How to Get There
One of my favorite hotels. Beautiful inside and outside. The staff are friendly and provide great service. The food is pretty good in their restaurant and out at the pool. The pool is awesome and a great place to hang out when you have downtime. Always a good view. Great sound proofing, the AC works well and plenty of hot water and water pressure in the bathroom. Nice to be able to flush your paper instead of letting your duce wipes pile up in the garbage can like you get at the boutique hotels in the city. Oh .. and the price is awesome. Two thumbs way up for this hotel!!

I have been visiting this hotel for over 2 years and tonight I had the worst experience of my life. I had my guest who already completed the proper check in process and upon return the security officer on duty was very rude, stopped us for over 30 minutes trying to establish if the guest is required to visit. They do not have proper paper work close to the check in desk which caused major problem.
I understand that safety is important but overreach is unacceptable and unwelcoming.
My husband and I visited Renaissance Santo Domingo last Feb 2019 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
The infrastructure and hotel facilities are good. Big rooms, hot shower, great bed, and fast internet. The personnel is very kind and willing to help you even though some times they don't know how to go above and beyond, a characteristic of luxury 5 stars hotels. For instance: My husband sent an email to the customer relationship manager stating that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, the hotel not even wrote a note to congratulate us, my husband needed to leave the car keys at front desk while we went for a walk and was told that was against hotel policy ??(it was fixed later), we arrived to our one hour massage appointment 7 min late (our fault) and were told that the massage time will be reduced due our our tardiness, even though nobody apparently was scheduled immediately after us, and sure enough we paid for an hour massage and received only 40 min. We went to the pool, we picked our towels, nobody offered and nobody came to offered drinks;( the best service was from the porters and Eduvigis from the Business center, she welcome us, offered us immediately a glass of wine, she was checking on us always in a kind and professional way!!! Bravo for her!! I have to say that after complaining about the poor customer service from a 5stars luxury hotel, my husband received sincere apologies and extra points toward our next stay here, and for that we are thankful. I think that renaissance can do better, there is a lack of leadership and engagement with their team.
Great service by everyone from Juan who checked me in. I received a room upgrade and was re-located to the main building. My king size bed was comfortable and I had a view of the pool, tennis court and the Sheraton Hotel. My room was very clean. I treated myself to buffet on a few morning and the food preparations was very good. Yissel, was my waitress every morning and she would have for me the daily smoothie as I don't drink coffee. I ordered an omellett every morning and it was eiher cooked by 'Ernesto' or 'Jackson'. They were cooked just to my specifications. My 'hat' off to the chefs. Of course the bar bartenders were great and as usual provided excellent service (William, Jose, Diego sorry if Imissed anyone). The hotel makes you feel welcome.
