How to Get There
My wife and I like to escape to the Billini once a year to unwind and explore the colonial zone. The Billini is the ideal local for a staycation. Reasonable price, unique base of operations to explore the colonial zone and of course the pool is a gem. But like all great places, Billini is popular so you need a locals strategy to enjoy it. Here are our recommendations:
1. Breakfast is dynamite. If you are going to be there multiple days, get breakfast at least one day because it's that good.
2. The Billini pool overlooks a colonial church and has a great vibe. But it is small and there are limited chairs and umbrellas. If you are going to be there on the weekend, get to the pool early (8AM) before the day pass crowd comes. If it's a special occasion (wedding, honeymoon, or baby moon) see if the reception will let you reserve an umbrella and a couple chairs. When the day passers start coming after noon, that's a good time to leave the pool and go explore the city. If you are there during the week, the pool can be an all day affair.
3. Take a tour in the Tuk Tuk. The colonial zone at midday can be warm. Take the Tuk Tuk and explore the colonial zone to avoid melting down. The guide/drivers knows spots to have a coffee or a drink.
4. Reception recommended Jalao, Lulu and Pate Palo for dinner and Mesón de Bari for lunch. All good calls, any of those spots works.
My wife and I visited from New York as a gift for her graduation from law school. The rooftop pool and the food were a pleasure welcoming. Such a nice set up and delicious food and drinks all around (lobby bar and breakfast too). We were fortunate to meet Lilo, the F&B director, who made our stay in the DR magical. The tour with Victor was the most amazing experience to see and experience SD as a local. If you coming to the DR, do yourself a favor and stay one night at the capital at the Billini hotel. If you ate fortunate to meet Lilo, who makes this place amazing, you’re in luck. DO the tour with Victor. He’s the man hands down to show you DR. UV from New York
This Hotel in the heart of the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo provides the guest experience and satisfaction. With walking distances to all great food spots, and bars, to excellent views and outstanding service. I stayed in the Executive Suite Terrace! No words needed. Excellent. Front desk Nestor Cruz, very attentive and diligent! Prices are on point!
Definitely will visit as soon as I have some time off!
I stayed at Bellini Hotel in January, 2019. Sorry for the delay in posting as I misplaced the names of employees I wished to mention.
The hotel is beautiful and is located within walking distance of notable sites in the colonial zone. If you wish to be transported within the zone, motorized vechicles are avaiiable for use by those staying at the hotel free of charge.
Breakfast was included with our rooom and it was excellent with many choices. The staff on all levels were eager to please ans very nice people.
I want to particularly mention Victor Martinez, Quinico Jimenez and Naike (couldn't obtain her last name). All three went above and beyond their professional responsibilities and they are noteworthy for just being wonderful people.
I have learned that one gets what one pays for. Bellini Hotel was money well spent.
The grounds are gorgeous and the pool inviting.
Very clean rooms
Very nice people
Bed and couch could be more comfortable.
Very good value for the price.
Just a short walk to the beach
