How to Get There
I love this hotel. The staff is freindly and efficient , the rooms are spacious and clean (some have terraces and private hot tub). The only thing I don't understand is the breakfast buffet , which is wonderful , includes exotic juices like melon , pina , tamarind , passion fruit , mango but no orange juice. Where or why isn't there any orange juice , probably the most popular breakfast juice.
I read many reviews on the hotel in Santo Domingo and decided to stay at the Billini, because they offered a private terrace with a jacuzzi. Upon arriving at the hotel the staff was professional and prompt. I barely know any Spanish, but I was able to get checked in without any problems. The hotel itself was very clean and decorated nicely. My room was spacious and clean as well. I had a beautiful view. I feel the money I spent was well worth it.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The hotel is within a 5 minute walk to the Colonial section of Santo Domingo. The staff treated you with such a high service level that we were so impressed. We met Vladimir and Duran who were so friendly and helpful. You felt like you were at home. Very nice breakfast buffet that is included. They have a nice pool and restaurant/bar on the rooftop.
It was just for a day but I need it it to disconnect and it was the perfect stay. From the front desk attentions to the rooftop at night for a drink and going into the room... the bed was amazingly comfortable and of course breakfast in bed “pricesless”.
My stay at the Hotel Billini was only for 1 night. The check in was easy and the desk staff were friendly and professional. The Hotel is located in an old colonial building with interesting architecture in the "Zona Colonial". They have converted the old building into a contemporary design hotel. My room was lovely with a juliet balcony in the large, modern, tastefully appointed bathroom overlooking a fabulous colonial era church. The room also had a nice private terrace draped in bouganvillia with lounge chairs off the bedroom area. The terrace did have a lot of plant debris which must have been overlooked by the housekeeping staff.
I am super picky about my bed-I love a good mattress and crispy all cotton bed linens. Thankfully, the bed had my approval.
The artwork in the common areas was entirely high quality and interesting as well.
Where the hotel disappointed was their food service. We had dinner on the rooftop and it took so long to get our main meal-it was longer than an hour! When dinner finally arrived it was not very appetizing. The next morning the breakfast was set up slowly and late. The egg/omelet station was not ready for a long time after breakfast commenced. When the chef was setting up his station I took a look at some of the ingredient that were to be offered as omelet ingredients. I was dismayed that the cubes of cheese were moldy and certain vegetable were far from fresh.
Billini has the potential to be a great luxury boutique hotel but they need to address the dining shortfalls.
