Romantic forest refuge in an untouched Patagonian national park, with seven romantic rooms and river views
Deep in the heart of Patagonia’s Lanin National Park, Rio Hermoso Hotel de Montaña sits in a storybook-worthy forest clearing beside a riverbank. From the pine-clad façade and native stone walls to the enormous picture windows and oversize white furnishings, the design complements and showcases the impossibly pretty setting.
Bed and Bath
All seven guestrooms echo the minimalist, nature-inspired public spaces, with native woods from floor to ceiling, earth tones on the walls and pops of citrus in the decorative blankets and pillows. Enormous beds are dressed in soft, bright white sheets — large enough to sleep like a starfish or cozy up with your bedmate. The three upstairs rooms have the best views of the roaring river. Bathrooms are simply done up with pale stone tiles, modern fixtures and roomy tubs that have over-bath showerheads.
Meals are served in the light-flooded living room overlooking the river, with sweet pastries and a choice of eggs for breakfast, and only local and seasonal fare on offer at lunch and dinner. Staff can organize a traditional Argentinian barbecue complete with gourmet grilled meats and local boutique wines with advance notice, and don’t miss the special afternoon tea served on the white chaise longues beside the river. Patagonia’s great outdoors is the real reason for staying here, and, depending on the season, the property will organize fly-fishing excursions, birdwatching expeditions and hiking in the national park.
