How to Get There
Mexican styled hotel close to the sea front. Whilst the internet annoyingly did not work in our room and the bed was a bit worn there were many pluses. The laundry is free from 6-10. There are social events throughout the evening : wine and cheese, pie later. The hotel seemed much loved by the other residents with helpful staff. The rooms are well equipped with microwave, fridge, hot tub, some rooms have balconies and there was complimentary chocolate.
The room was so lovely, especially the balcony where we enjoyed coffee in the morning, as well as the large bathtub. We also liked that the bathroom had two sinks! The staff is amazing, especially Lindsey!! She was so sweet, fun, and accommodating! She even prepared for us a cheese and salami plate when we were hungry in the evening - note: the restaurants on the promenade all stop serving food at 9 pm! We had such a nice getaway, but at the same time felt so at home!
Overpriced, very underwhelming. You're paying a premium for some free (unhealthy) snacks and treats. The jacuzzi tub was broken, the bed was warped, and the walls are thin. Also, our room phone rang and woke us up in the night. When I brought up my displeasure with the tub jets not working, the front desk person was not proactive and simply assured me it would be fixed (great but, it was a one night stay). Regarding the phone call she said it was probably the front desk, and offered no consolation. Poor customer service. Overall, the staff was gossipy and unprofessional. The hotel could use some upgrades and basic repairs for the price it's asking. Look elsewhere.
Great Lcation, Very nice staff, Wonderful amenities. Loved the nachos in the afternoon, delicious pie in the evening, great appetizers and wine after 5. Room we had was nice and comfortable, enjoyed sitting outside on our balcony.
Needed a quick getaway and Avila Beach delivered! Avila La Fonda Hotel came highly recommended by at least 2 family members, so we gave it a try and we were NOT sorry. Waking to the smell of fresh baked croissants every morning was magical! The nachos and cold cervesas at noon was fun! The wine social hour always welcome. And the fresh baked pie & ice cream prior to bedtime was decadent! The location 1 block from the beach was something we were not quite sure of, as we would have preferred being beachfront, but all the above mentioned perks, the friendly staff, and the nicely appointed rooms made up for it. Highly recommend this place!
