How to Get There
Fantastic place. Saw sealions all sunbathing on rocks with their babies. Watched a fantastic sunset. Lovely shops and restaurants. Well worth a visit. San diego is fab loads to see and do. Also went to san francisco one of my favourite cities. Did two days in L.A was ok if i am honest was a little tacky. But the conservatory is worth a vist with fantastic views. We had dinner on the Queen Mary which was a fantastic experience.
We had a great room and a good location, only about 15 minutes from La Jolla sea lions, restaurants, etc.. the bar was great, the pool not so much! It’s small and secluded. You can walk to a great shopping center!!
I received a great rate with same day booking. I arrived earlier than I was supposed to arrive for check in (3 hours early) and they were able to accommodate me and check me into my room at that time which was very appreciated! Location is conveniently located next to a higher end mall. I wish it was a little closer to the beach but an uber ride to La Jolla beach was $10 bucks so not too bad. Rooms were clean and friendly staff at check in. I did not eat or drink while on property. The only criticism I had was that the pool was a little small for the size of the hotel.
Although the hotel is in La Jolla, it is actually quite a way (say about 3-4km) away from the sea which is a bit of a shame but the hotel gives you what you would expect from a Marriott. The service at Marriott hotels I always find to be good and this is no exception.
The surroundings are not that exciting. The hotel is close to the huge Westfield UTC mall which means you are never short of food and shopping alternatives at least but the area in general is dotted with anonymous bank and residential buldings.
I attended meetings held in the business area of the hotel and there was nothing to complain about - nice big meeting rooms and good internet access.
Staying in the hotel as i write this . Ordered 2 beers . 45 mins and counting . Be prepared to spend 30 bucks for the parking . Executive lounge charges for the beer and wine . Had to ask for the room upgrade as a gold member instead of just getting it .
