How to Get There
Amazing location! great costumer service!, Is the perfect place for few days, you can walk every where close the beach . Is a little gem in la jolla definitely i will come back again . Thank you !!!!!
1st class hotel. My husband is in a wheelchair and this hotel is extremely compliant. Wish life was this easy. Highly recommend. The staff was extremely helpful and all in all it was a very positive experience.
I was a little disappointed seeing how much we paid. We paid $75 for our dog, $30 to park, and the rooms were not cheap on top of that. Our pet fee was supposed to cover dog bowls and a bed, according to their website. I did not bring mine thinking they would provide these. The first night we arrived, I asked for a doggie bowl. They said they were busy but would bring one "as soon as possible." It's 8pm and my dog has not eaten since breakfast. We waited (and waited) so I had to use the tray from the fridge to feed her. I had no utensils to get the wet food out of the can. It was a mess. They never did provide a bowl or bed. Also, they first put us in a room next to where everyone ate their breakfast. Our windows faced the cafeteria. My husband made them switch rooms since that would have been loud and annoying. I am glad he did because the restaurant was right under the room and that night there was raging party in the restaurant. Super loud. I could hear it from our room across the hall. We tried to have a nice "fancy" birthday for my dog and I, but, as usual, our expensive hotel was just "okay". No pool either! And the restaurant SUCKED! Horrible food and service. They forgot our reservation in which my hubby wanted a birthday tiramisu for me. They forgot that also. The food tasted like it was a TV dinner. Really gross. Don't eat there. WAY OVER PRICED!
The Empress Hotel is in a great location, a ten minute walk to La Jolla Cove. The staff are very friendly and professional. Very comfortable bed and pillows! This was my second stay, and I will return!
There are also great restaurants nearby in walking distance.
We stayed at the Empress for 3 nights on a visit to La Jolla to take care of some family business. This is a city hotel without a pool or resort amenities and perfect for those looking for a location within walking distance of everything La Jolla has to offer. Charming, clean, friendly atmosphere. Our room with 2 queen beds was equipped with everything we needed including lots of storage. Helpful, friendly, accommodating staff. Well stocked cold breakfast buffet is included and you can eat in the "garden loggia" or take food back to your room. The Manhattan restaurant right in the hotel is great for a New York style steak and pasta dinner with live music Wednesday through Saturday -- we loved the Wednesday nite singer and piano player and sat at the bar for a couple of hours with terrific bartender, Gretchen.
