Outstanding Customer Service!

We stayed at the Empress Hotel for a week as my husband was here on a work course. Customer Services Representative Ryan Fohre went above and beyond to make our stay, which turned into a surprise family reunion, a wonderful and memorable occasion! He deserves a raise, or at least a bonus!!

We cannot say enough about Ryan, and the staff in general, at the Empress. We look forward to staying here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone, without hesitation !!

Great to be back!

After being away for a long period of time it was wonderful to be back at the Empress! Seamus welcomed me back with the charm I remembered the Empress is known for and had the chance to meet new members of their team. The remodeled rooms are wonderful! And with Sara still there as the head of housekeeping, as are so many of her team, thus the high standard of perfection continues in maintaining of the rooms. It is a wonderful location right in LaJolla; central to great shops and food. Breakfast is included; and, this is a pet friendly location. Looking forward to my return trips; the updated Empress is special!

Very nice location, but ...

I've stayed at the Empress multiple times. It's in a great location in La Jolla, within a short walk of nice restaurants, coffee shops, and a longer walk to the beach. The rooms are fine (big enough, comfortable enough beds, etc). The front desk staff are very nice and helpful. But the furnishings are kind of tired, and the free continental breakfast is not worth having (e.g., no cereal that is healthy, all of it has too much sugar). It's not inexpensive, either. So maybe look elsewhere for something less expensive, or on the breach.
