An open-air jungle treehouse, with beach cruisers and a waterfall rope swing, plus breakfast and dinner
Deep in the tropical rainforest sit the 20 open-air cabins of Dominican Tree House Village. Life is simpler here at 10 to 40 feet above the jungle floor, and these thatched-roofed, curtain-draped accommodations, each with its own private terrace, are built around an eco-lodge suspended among the canopy. Pathways to this central space, or to the on-site bar or restaurant, form a network of treetop bridges that turn every jaunt to eat or drink into a rustic adventure.
If you’re looking for a different kind of adventure, there’s no shortage of delightful activities available even in this remote locale. From horseback riding to waterfall hikes, ground tours on boat or bike to canopy tours on a zip line, whatever outing you choose can be arranged with the hotel. You can also visit the on-site yoga dome or zip-line, or hit the Caribbean beaches nearby. Whether taking to the water, sand or treetops, or appreciating the eco-friendliness of your room, you'll feel uncommonly close to nature at this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner.
The hotel’s 20 open-air Tree House cabins are built 10 to 40 feet off the ground on stilts. Each one is enclosed by clean white curtains and a well-built bamboo railing and furnished with a plush queen mattress and soft white sheets. Décor is rustically chic, with hand-woven and wooden accents throughout, a locking chest for valuables and a terrace opening up directly into the jungle foliage. Both cabin and bed are veiled in mosquito netting. While every room does have a 110v power outlet, there is no TV, AC or Wi-Fi, and bathroom facilities are shared. Clean and modern, each of the several community bathrooms are just a short walk from cabins and include a large shower, toilet and sink with complimentary toiletries and a private changing room.
The hotel houses a bar, as well as a dining room that’s located high above the jungle treetops and features organic cuisine. Daily rotating dishes feature local flavors and include traditional American breakfasts and dinners featuring homemade soups, entrees and desserts. Vegetarian, non-dairy and gluten-free custom options are available on advance request.
The Dominican Tree House Eco Village is located on the upper coast of Samana Bay in scenic Samana, in the northeastern section of the Caribbean's Dominican Republic.
