How to Get There
My partner and I had a sensational stay at the Schloss Monchstein. On arrival we were greeted by extremely friendly staff,
handed a glass of champagne and given an upgrade to the tower room.
The hotel is set at the top of a hill and our tower room provided incredible views overlooking Salzburg. The restaurant is lovely, with equally delicious food and great service. There was a lovely 10 minute walk from the hotel to a museum which houses a lift which takes you down to the city centre.
We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend.
I was invited by a friend for the weekend in Salzburg. Only a few can reside more royally than we did here. Emotionally furnished rooms, harmonious ambience, perfectly trained and well-rehearsed staff, beautiful view, comfortable beds, relaxing spa, exquisite and large breakfast. Comfort and perfection in all respects. Thank you Mönchstein for stunning birthday!
We checked in in a Apollo suite on the ground floor. We requested an hour later to shift to another suite on a higher floor. They then told me 400 EURO for cleaning( room change). Then while checking out they said we made it 300 Euro!! That's really bad, I felt let down.
This was our second visit to this hotel. Our first visit ,two years ago , was heaven. We were allowed access to the infinity pool during evening/night. This was such a delight after a busy day walking the city .
It was so relaxing to come home to the hotel and go to the infinity pool to see the lights overlooking the city and unwind. I looked forward to it every evening.
Upon our second visit two years later, when we come home in the evening we were told the pool was closed. When I ask why they replied that it closed as soon as it was dark., which was around 5:30pm . This was such a disappointment to me and my husband because we were gone all day touring the city and only came home in the evening when it began to get dark. I have never stayed at any facility especially a five star facility such as this one that did not offer the pool availability in the evenings. This was the main reason we had chosen to stay at this hotel because of the the infinity pool that overlooks the city lights at night; otherwise,we would’ve chosen a different hotel .
We will choose a different hotel upon our next visit. Such a huge disappointment.
We arrived just after snow had fallen and the setting was absolutely beautiful. Every member of staff we encountered was very friendly and seemed to be legitimately interested in ensuring we enjoyed our stay. Dinner was excellent as were the breakfasts which were enjoyed with stunning views over Salzburg.
My only suggestion would be to provide an option of firmer pillows. I developed a neck ache from the very soft pillows which provide very little neck support. Otherwise everything was perfect.
