Colonial-style retreat with direct beach access, plus five restaurants and an award-winning spa

The Lowdown

Set on a dazzling half-mile strip of stunning beach and surrounded by 56 acres of tropical garden, the Taj Exotica is one of Goa’s best luxury hotels. The colonial-inspired resort features a grand marble lobby with a vaulted ceiling that overlooks palm-fringed lawns. The spacious guestrooms have private balconies overlooking the sea or the gardens, and the marble-clad bathrooms are equipped with tubs and walk-in showers. The extensive dining options include Alegria, for traditional Goan fare; Eugenia for Indian and Continental specialities; Li Bai for upscale Chinese; Miguel Arcanjo for Spanish, Italian and Moroccan cuisine; and the seasonal Lobster Shack for freshly caught seafood. For total relaxation, make a beeline for the award-winning Jiva Spa and request a Vishram aromatherapy massage in a private pavilion (open seasonally) by the Arabian Sea. Then follow that up with a Palm Kiss Martini and a prawn-chili-olive skewer at the glam wood-paneled lobby bar, Adega Camoens.

In the Area

There’s a lot more to Goa than sunbathing and partying. Yoga enthusiasts flock to the northern village of Mandrem, where Ashiyana’s famous Rejuvenation and Detox programs are offered. To explore Goa’s Portuguese colonial past, head to the church of St. John the Baptist. The building’s sparkling white façade has been a Goan landmark for more than 400 years. For some of the best chicken vindaloo in India, visit Viva Panjim, a tiny family-run restaurant in the city of Panaji known for its tasty Goan staples and other Indian delicacies, as well as its international cocktail menu.

Best Experience in Any Hotel in Goa (in 15 years of visiting Goa)

Huge property. All sea facing. A cricket pitch and ever ready Hotel personnel to play with. Phenomenal Spa. Wait make that 2. Two Spas. A special Lobster Themes Restaurant right on the beach. The beach is the best one I have seen in Goa. Water sports right outside.the greenery, the rooms, the bath, the Portuguese restaurant, the breakfasts - and the perfectly heated pool - everything is perfect.

Our holiday at the Taj Exotica in Goa was a fabulous experience, from the moment we arrived to our departure the hotel staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. They made our holiday that bit more special. Food was excellent in all the restaurants that we dined in and we could not fault the service. We cannot praise this hotel high enough and can't wait for next April to stay again.

Taj for the First time

This short break was to relax following a busy and tiring Golden Triangle tour. The Hotel was recommended to us by a friend who is a regular visitor.
The hotel is beautiful, as are the grounds. The staff work hard to provide a very good and friendly service both in the restaurants and within the hotel…
We have had slight problem with our room, but the hotel staff and management handled it well and professionally.
I think we were lucky as the holiday season was just finished so the place wasn't overly crowded at all. The only other thing I like to mention that the tennis courts needs a lot of attention as the surface is in a terrible condition
