Sprawling and secluded resort on the beach, with two restaurants, a marina and St. Martin’s largest infinity pool
Cheerful, contemporary Caribbean. Arrive via private shuttle service from the airport at the breezy grand entrance, and you find a comfortable lobby you’ll actually want to lounge around in (bonus: The hotel bar is in the lobby too). Situated on 18 acres in a secluded cove of Anse Marcel National Nature Reserve, the resort includes a full marina, two restaurants and the island’s largest infinity pool.
Bed and Bath
Pick between courtyard or marina view guest room — either way, rooms are spacious, bright and decorated in beach-inspired hues. Suites have a separate living room with a sleeper sofa; rooms facing the marina are quietest. All accommodations are equipped with Nespresso machines and flat-screen televisions. Bathrooms are simple but thoughtfully designed and come stocked with Anne Semonin bath products.
The resort offers four restaurants and one bar. Head to Krystal for fusion, L'Île for steak and international cuisine, La Mer for fine French dining, or casual eatery Le Marché for a breakfast buffet, including a particularly delicious homemade pain au chocolat, as well as low-key dinner fare. Head to Le Lobby Bar afterward for a planter’s punch. The resort also offers a “guest enrichment” program, in which visitors can choose from cooking courses with the hotel’s executive chef, practice their French or do a tasting of local rums. Adults with kids in tow will also appreciate the kids club, which offers arts and crafts, pool games and more to keep little ones entertained.
In the Area
Grand Case is St. Martin’s main dining area, and classic French cooking is the star. Head to Le Tastevin and order magret de canard, a juicy seared duck breast. During the day, head to Pinel, a tiny, picturesque island with just three restaurants and no full-time residents, to swim, surf and dine. It’s just a 10-minute boat ride back to the resort — and once you return, unwind with a treatment at the resort’s spa, set right on the beach.
