Wonderful stay and amazingly helpful staff

We loved our time at Belmond Rio Sagrado. The staff went out of their way to help us, including arranging guide and entrance / bus tickets to Machu Picchu. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed the hotel and in particular Valeria, José and Hector.

Beautiful location, great food and well located in the Sacred Valley. Train stops at hotel was great.

Secluded and superb place to recharge

This hotel was absolutely amazing! The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very comfortable and immaculately clean- a very modern take on the local culture. The food was delicious and the service- as with all Belmond hotels- beyond reproach! I'd specifically like to thank Juan in the restaurant who chased after us to return the backpack we had left behind- which contained our passports!!

Wonderful Stay

We spent 3 nights here in June '18 while exploring various parts of the Sacred Valley. The rooms are plush and comfortable, the location in a valley beside the river is beautiful, and the grounds are lovely. The staff is very friendly - the bartender was always there when we needed him, and new trainee Dushka was exceptional in the restaurant. (Good luck, Dushka!). We were kind of undecided on the food in Peru in general, but the food at the Belmond Rio Sagrado was very, very good. (Try the ribeye and the spaghetti.) Great place to get away.

Stunning landscapes and beautiful rooms

We spent 3 nights here in June after hiking Macchu Pichu.

Beautiful grounds, absolutely fantastic facilities and delicious and wide ranging breakfast. Our room was also enormous with a powerful waterfall shower which was a godsend after 4 days camping!

They even have a trip of baby Alpacas roaming the gardens which is quite entertaining.

The pool was a great place to relax and recharge and the gardens were extensive and well maintained.

Had a massage in the spa where Gladys was my therapist and she was professional, kind and very good! The treatment rooms are fab and feel very at one with the environment.

Staff were so helpful. I was particularly unwell during my stay and they were accommodating in ordering a taxi to the pharmacy and also in cancelling a horse riding trip at the last minute due to my sickness without penalty.

A couple of small points for improvement...

Needs to be clarity when food is chargeable. We were given many snacks on a "complimentary basis" when we ordered drinks round the pool but then found out when we checked out that we were charged $15 for basically a plate of crisps and guacamole which we otherwise wouldn't have ordered but it wasn't made clear to us.

The hotel offers a turndown service in addition to a daily room clean. We used the do not disturb sign as our room was very untidy with various half unpacked bags etc and we received not only multiple phone calls but also a note about the fact they couldn't clean the room that day and asked whether we wanted it done. Felt a little bit like overkill! Maybe the note alone would have been enough to prompt if we hadn't meant to leave the sign on. Just a case of being overly conscientious for our personal tastes.

The check- in procedure took an inordinate amount of time. I was then taken to my room. After settling in realized that I had been taken to the wrong room. Packed up and had to move. No TV’s in the rooms. Unlike the belmond in Cusco the minibar wasn’t included. Food was okay but on the expensive side - US $24 for a chicken sandwich.
