Built from the ground up by a globetrotting Argentine/Belgian couple, this ten-condo hideaway represents a labor of love, from the spacious, artfully decorated condos to the shady pool area with its hammocks. Eco-minded guests will also appreciate such little touches as organic honey soap, fluffy bathrobes and free loaner bicycles, perfect for getting around this casual beach town. The units range from penthouse studios to two-bedroom condo apartments, and each is named for a famous artist. Expect light-filled white rooms decorated with vibrant throw cushions and colorful artworks; some condos come with perks like fully equipped kitchens and outdoor soaking tubs. While the town of Tulum isn’t a white-sand-palm-tree dream, like the more famous beach zone, its restaurant and nightlife scene is fun, and the more laid-back hotel zone is just a short drive or peddle away.
In the Area
Head for the tranquil Tulum beachfront, where the beautiful people congregate and it’s always either yoga time or happy hour. Dine at one of the town’s many hip but casual joints, like Casa Banana where they fire up the Argentine-style grill each night to serve delicious snacks like housemade chorizo and fresh-caught fish, all in the shade of trees hung with lanterns. Join the line for a table at Hartwood, a perpetually mobbed alfresco hot spot run by a former New York chef where the menu changes daily and the food is cooked over an open fire. La Vita e Bella offers a true sand-between-the-toes dining experience, and it offers guests of Villa Geminis a discount. Closer to home, Sale e Pepe, in Tulum town, is known for its pizzas and pastas and generally convivial vibe. Don’t miss a visit to the Mayan ruins, the remains of an ancient city, set fetchingly on a cliff overlooking a curve of azure sea.
How to Get There
Highly recommend Villas Geminis after just finishing an 8 night stay. In town location is perfect. One street removed from the busy and lively main thoroughfare. Quiet, relaxed and comfortable spaces inside and out. A lovely shaded, well maintained tropical courtyard and pool area are beautiful, quiet and inviting.
All of the staff are completely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Whether you need tours arranged, restaurant, shop and activity recommendations, or a bicycle sized just for you, the staff is ready and willing to help out.
The location is a perfect for exploring the town or bicycling to the beach along a separated bike path (approximately 2 miles to the beach junction).
We consider Villas Geminis one of the best small hotels we've ever visited
Perfect place to end our vacation... we wanted to be amongst the locals and to stay within walking distance to nice restaurant/bars. The hotel provided complimentary bikes and it was an easy 20 min bike ride to the Ruins and 20 min bike ride to Gran Cenote. We had the “Miro” penthouse suite. Room was sun drenched, clean and relaxing. Friendly staff. Highly recommend!
We were lodged in the Klimt suite (really dear owners you need to hang the rosebush painting properly ot is hanging upside down). Perfect hotel.with children. We had a large room with a perfectly set up kitchen with all the amenities. Lovely hamacs out front, giant bathtub in our own private little patio which was a total highlight for my 1 year old.
Really if you are in Tulum to explore there is no point paying for the upprice near the beach. This hotel is also located close to restaurants and convenience stores.
Bike rentals included.
Breakfast served every day with fresh eggs or burritos, banana bread, granola and fruit. Would absolutely stay herr again.
Little quite peacefull gem in the city of tulum. Location is perfect, the main street with the shops and restaurants on walking distances. To go to the beach you have to rent bikes or a car. The cenotes are wonderfull, our favorite was cenote corazon, which is open for public since 2018.
The hotel staff is ridiculously friendly and helpfull!!
Weve had a great stay
I spent 4 nights here with my pre-teen daughter and it was perfect. Very family friendly. They helped out when she cut her finger. It was clean, quiet, safe, and served wonderful breakfasts. Parking was easy and it is a quick walk to the downtown. I will definitely stay again if I visit Tulum. This was in February 2018.
