How to Get There
2 to 4 weddings every night. Extremely loud till 11pm to midnight. DJ is blasting music right outside my room. Hotel staff could care less. I came here with my young kids because I was told this was a family resort. Now I have kids who have gotten very little sleep. We wanted a peaceful family vacation hotel. Not a loud destination wedding/ party hotel. Hotel is slammed with drunks. Not what we signed up for. They do not care about guests. Just weddings.
This might be a perfect resort for some, but it was not for us. The pro’s- the staff is very friendly. Although the waiters for the pool and beach area don’t seem to be quite as attentive if you don’t tip them. They do deserve tips but since it’s supposed to be included, I don’t like to feel like we HAVE to in order to receive service. The room was nice a big (junior suite) with a beautiful view. But here are my complaints- we chose this resort because it was more expensive and seemed higher class so we though we’d avoid the party crowd. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The workers started the parties at about 9:30 every night and would last for hours. They would literally yell into the microphone non stop with the speaker system so loud it sounded like they were right in our room. So instead of a relaxing vacation, we went a week with no sleep. Again, this might not be an issue for some some, but it was for us. My other complaint is that it was supposed to be all inclusive, but they are constantly trying to get you to buy “extra” stuff. For instance the man in the Japanese restaurant wouldn’t leave us alone until we agreed to buy a disgusting $40 bottle of saki. And they had this “romantic dinner” for Valentine’s Day for $300, they were non stop pestering people to buy. Along with that, that is the only way you get specialty food like lobster. So although food is included, not the good food. Here’s a tip- they offer you day passes to their sister resort and encourage you to visit it because it’s a 5 star place and you only have to promise to let them show you around for 90 minutes. Seems innocent- but don’t do it, it is a high pressure sales event that really took 4 hours. After 4 different people try to tell you how foolish you are for not paying $200,000 to become members, you have to make them let you leave. A total waste when you’ve spent so much money to just rest on a beach
We really enjoyed our time at the Dreams. The staff was always courteous and spot on. I have allergies and they made sure they were aware of that at check in and everytime I entered an eating area. We really enjoyed the buffet and were served by a very congenial man, Pedro Castillo. He made mornings so much better. We also had room service a couple of times and found the food good and hot with everything needed actually there. The grounds are clean and the rooms spotless. The layout of the room is a little different whcih also adds to the enjoyment. My only complaint would be the spa. That is not worth the huge expense of a mani/pedi. Not that the service was bad but as I said it was way out of line for cost and while I was sitting there and had picked my color.....I watched her get up and put (assumed) acetone to allow old polish to spread it out. Took the sheen out of the polish of course. As a person that has traveled quite a bit, I would recommend this resort to those that enjoy a smaller venue.
We stayed at Dreams Riviera Cancun from February 10-14. It was myself, husband and our 3 children ages: 9, 9, 4. Everything could not have been more perfect from the moment we arrived until the day we left (which we were all so sad to leave this amazing place)
Staff: Everyone was so sweet and nice. A special thank you to Carla Tamayo, who made my twins Birthday unforgettable! She hosted a party at the kids club for them and when my husband and I went to pick them up they were begging us to leave them a little longer because they were having so much fun. After that day they wanted to go everyday to the kids club and this is due to the compassionate and fun staff! We miss you Elizabeth, Karina, Angeles, Fanny. Dayane & Fernanda! All I have to say is that you are sooooo amazing!
Food: The food was great all around. Our favorite was the Japanese Restaurant. Room service was delicious and prompt.
Resort: So clean and well taken care of!
Pools: The pools were also great, especially the infinity pool. Waiters were always coming by to make sure we had drinks.
I highly recommend upgrading to the Ocean View Preferred room category. We had special personalized check in, jacuzzi in the balcony, and later check out. Anytime we called the front desk to request anything they were always very prompt and also followed up with a phone call.
Beach: The beach was great and there were plenty of chairs to accommodate us. The sand was so pretty!
Entertainment: The nightly entertainment was fun and they really got the guests involved in the festivities at the lobby. Great top shelf liquor choices at the bars throughout the resort.
Dreams Riviera Cancun has the perfect name because it is a "Dream come true." They have also figured out how to cater to all different guests weather it is families, couples or groups of friends. We saw a lot of weddings on resort and the wedding staff did a beautiful job. We were so impressed with how beautiful and unique all the different weddings looked.
We can't wait to go back next year!
We especially liked that the resort was not huge and the staff was so accommodating and paid attention to detail. I have not been to another resort that the staff was so professional and kind and just happy to see us and greet us wherever we were!
We stayed Feb 7th-14th 2019. Traveled with another couple so four people in our group. Check in was quick and easy. We did a deal of the day through Apple Vacations. Our room was excellent. Third floor overlooking the hot tub. View was amazing looking out at the ocean and pools. Staff came by the room several times a day making sure everything you needed was there. Food was always good.We ate breakfast every morning at the Seaside Grill. Cannot say enough good about Alphonso our waiter there. He was the greatest.He should have his own school on how to treat the guests.We did the Himitsu one night also great show by the chef. If you go hungry at this resort its your own fault. Bars were always fun also. Our favorite was the Barracuda beach bar. Eric was our server most days. Very personable young man and he worked his butt off on that beach. At night they always had some kind of show, Elvis, Night of Fire, etc. So overall if the price was right again we would come back to this resort.
