How to Get There
This is an update on my review of this hotel. The first review wrote after the first day and described how poor the rooms were in block 4 family rooms .We finally got moved to an updated room in block 3 after 3 days. These rooms are modern and so much better most people we knew that were given rooms in block 4 were unhappy about the state of them. These rooms are very old looking and dark the mirrors are full of rust, Sink taps were discolored showers were very poor . I was told to speak to the lobby concierge manager after my first review but to be honest this was a waste of time. To move rooms we had to fist check out of our room at 12 midday our belongings were stored in the lobby and our new room should have been ready at 3pm but at 3 I was told the room still wasn't ready and they could not tell me a time they would be. I insisted on speaking to the manager and how presto suddenly the room card keys were given to us. Every day all bars ran out of tonic water, labeled Gin and Vodka, You don't expect this from a 5 star hotel. I believe most of the reviews that are 5 star were people who had either the privilege area, Adults area and swim up rooms and I cant see how anyone can give block 4 the same rating unless they are not used to staying in a 5 star resort so they can't compare . You can't fault the bar staff as they work very hard. At breakfast time it would be better if you could make your own hot drinks as you can sit down for over 10 minutes before the waiter comes over. The beach area is a no go.Full of sea weed and the sea water looks brown and the smell is horrible. The pool area by block 4 is very noisy with the noise of drilling and banging all day from the work men updating the old rooms All in you this hotel is no where as good as the Rui palace hotels. We will not be going back to this hotel. The trip was to celebrate my wife's birthday but the hotel spoilt it
Enjoyed our family stay. Respectful and helpful staff. The food was great. If you looking for a relaxing quiet place then Azul Blue is for you. The facility is awesome all around and beautifully maintained.
Overall it was really awesome. Staff was friendly and professional and always working hard. Room was quiet and clean. Food was good. Italian restaurant took hours....swim up suite was great. Not much of an ocean or sunset view.
We travelled in Oct 2018 for a romantic week away. We booked an adults only suite. The food is beautiful throughout the resort. In particular the Italian & Caribbean. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. It was my husbands birthday while we were there and they couldn’t do enough for him. They left him cake in the room & organised him a birthday meal complete with birthday cake and singing. The room was spotless clean. As was the resort in general. We arrived in the middle of a tropical storm which had made a mess of the beach. There was seaweed everywhere. But staff worked tirelessly with rakes and wheel barrows and 2 days later the beach was clean. The water isn’t clear on the edge but is further out. I would say the only two let downs about this hotel are the Sunbed situation and the debacle for getting into Le Chique (the gourmet restaurant) Sunbeds: there aren’t enough. We booked an adults only room and there was an adults only pool. People were down reserving beds before 6am every day across the resort. The hotel supposedly has a policy of no reservations before 7am in force but I never saw this enforced. People would go reserve beds with a towel & a Book or something then go back to bed, go for breakfast or even turn up after lunch. If you book the premium section you are guaranteed a bed in the premium section. This isn’t the case with adults only - if you want a bed be prepared to get up at 6am. Le chique: everyone is entitled to one free visit during their stay. It’s really lovely. Special food and a luxurious atmosphere. However - to get a place (allegedly there are 18 places available each night) you had to go and wait in the Starbucks and book 2 days in advance. Booking is open 3-5pm. I arrived at 2.15pm and was 3rd in the queue. We were lucky and got in but upon speaking to other guests there were people there who were on their 3rd and 4th attempt at getting in. No one goes on holiday to spend hours waiting around for a rep on the off chance you will get a place you’re entitled to. In my opinion the hotel should consider 2 sittings per evening and automatically allocate you a date and time on arrival. The whole experience took us just under 3 hours.Other than that I can’t fault this place. 25 mins in either direction to cancun & playa del carmen. The hotel more than happy to arrange taxis for you. The bars & evening entertainment were good too. Will certainly go back.
Our holiday was amazing! The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the hotel was spotless. The gym was adequate with personal training sessions from Jeorge who made us do a bit. The pool bar tenders Alfredo and Jesus were great fun and made up lovely cocktails. Jose in the Mexican restaurant made our dining experience fun. Walter in the Tapas bar was very attentive. Our lovely cleaning lady Isabela made sure our room was cleaned daily. The beach bbq were great. I could go on and on about how we had a great time. We would definitely recommend this holiday
