What a great vacation!

The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The pools are great! I believe there are about eight pools, so they never feel overcrowded. The FOOD! Oh, my goodness! Every restaurant was fantastic; even the buffet. To top it off, the staff was so kind and provided excellent service.

This was our 15th visit to Mexico. For comparison purposes we’ve stayed at AM Resorts: Secrets Silversands, Secrets Capri, Karisma Hotels: El Dorado Royale, El Dorado Casitas Royale, El Dorado Maroma, Generations Riviera Maya, The Fives Azul Beach, Azul Riviera Maya and Playa Resorts: The Royal. We are a married couple in our early 30s. We stayed in a luxury suite from 05/26/19-05/30/19.

We love Karisma properties. I highly recommend this resort for families and couples. I regrettably couldn’t give it a 5 star review for one (very important to me) reason... most of the trip we didn’t have hot water no matter what time we tried to shower. The concierge was aware of the issue and informed us maintenance was working on it.

Very close to the airport but not to be confused with its sister resort Azul Beach Resort Riviera MAYA. Karisma rebranded this resort which was formerly a Sensatori. Did not feel crowded despite being near full occupancy. No wristbands required. Plenty of shade options. Water was plagued with seaweed - resort worked tirelessly to maintain the beach. Download the app; it’s is very informative.

We were a group of 8 adults. All with rooms in building 3. Two on the ground floor and two on the third floor. Our building was 4 stories with an elevator. It was setup like a hotel with rooms on either side of a long hallway. The hallway was very noisy especially near the stairwell and entrance of the building. I would recommend a corner room on the top floor if you’re a light sleeper. The room was modern and minimal. Large walk-in shower and private water closet. Our balcony overlooked a pool. There is a drying rack on the balcony which was great for our wet suits. They have old lock and key safes. There was not one in our room nor were we provided with one at check-in. Do not lose the key or you have to pay to replace the lock! We were not offered to choose a pillow or aromatherapy (it’s possible this amenity is. It offered at this Karisma resort).

We ate lunch at the buffet several days which normally isn’t my thing but the cuisine changed daily. We enjoyed a day of Mexican and another of Asian. Desserts were lacking in my opinion. The soft serve vanilla ice cream was flavorless and needed a sundae bar to accompany it. The pizza corner is great for a quick snack. Many guests enjoyed the beach BBQ. The concept at the tapas restaurant worked well for our large group. They even accommodated my brother-in-law’s vegetarian diet. Our server at the Italian restaurant, Manuel, was amazing. He performed a mini magic show for our table. We all enjoyed the large sombreros and atmosphere at the Mexican restaurant - don’t leave without tasting the churros. The Caribbean restaurant had an amazing chocolate lava cake served with chocolate ice cream that was to die for! We spent most afternoons at the adults only swim up bar and evenings at the Mojito bar. Zavala, swim up bar bartender, was awesome! Overall this resort had the best service of any all-inclusive we’ve visited.

The gym is located in the lobby and open 24-hours. It was small considering the number of rooms.

The towel card concept is odd to me. The other Azul properties participate as well. The rest of our group didn’t even receive cards at check-in. And most days if you went to get a towel there wasn’t an attendant on duty.

Beautiful hotel!

Stayed here mid June with my partner, after initially thinking this was an empty hotel (arrived mid day - very quiet), we had a great holiday!

Pro’s

-Brilliantly clean hotel, our bedroom was spectacular, and the maid service was great, always left spotless.

-Very helpful and happy staff, everyone seemed genuinely happy to work there.

-Well organised with lots going on (if you look yourself) lots of interactive screens around the hotel to aid this.

-Very helpful Tui reps (Hayley)

-Tasty food with lots of different a la carte restaurants, Buffett food as well which was of high quality.

-Great selection of drinks & spirits - personal favourite, iceberg!

-Le chique - independent restaurant on site, great quirky food and restaurant.

Con’s

-Biggest one for me... beach totally un-usable, although staff do clean, you cannot swim or use the narrow beach, which for me is a main factor when you book a holiday, hotel / travel agents should state that the beach cannot be used, as Mexico is a long way to fly from the UK if looking for a beach holiday.

-Food - although great it isn’t gourmet, majority of food ordered in a la carte is pre-prepared and heated up of some sort, you can tell by the texture and the speed they bring it to you (1-2 minutes). Saying that it is great food, more fresher would be better.

-Although great service, I feel they are a little short staffed in areas, every time you go to bars you are always 7 deep in a queue, with the bar tenders looking very stretched, surely more staff on in peak times.

Overall would stay again if the price was right - great all round hotel.

What an amazing holiday!

We visited Azul beach resort in Mexico.
We booked through TUI and after a few hiccups we had the best holiday we have ever had.
We upgraded after 3 days because we wanted to use the swim up rooms.

If you upgrade to the premium rooms the experience is amazing it’s easier to get a sun-bed, the swim up rooms are amazing, you get the turn down service at night and the pool also gets a really nice breeze from the beach!

Around the pool Fernando is ALWAYS more than happy to help! He made our holiday so relaxed. Once he works out what drink you like you hardly have to ask again! He always helps, always happy and always working! He really is amazing!

The rest of the staff, Miguel, Lucia, Blanca, Uriel, Alejandro are all so helpful as well.

Every member of staff is always happy and will always smile and say hello!

The food is faultless!
The Tapas bar is amazing.
The Caribbean does the best breakfasts!
The Italian is lovely as well!
The Mexican restaurant could maybe do with a bit of work but it is still good!
Spoons the main restaurant is good as well so all around you can find something to eat!
My boyfriends fave bit was the BBQ on the beach with have the best burgers!

The hotel is actually spotless, everywhere you go someone is cleaning!

Watch out for the massive iguanas that lay around lapping up the sun!

Overall the best holiday we have had! We will be returning!!!!
