Had a fantastic family holiday here for 2 weeks. Brilliant staff who work so hard to help make our stay all you want, especially our sun-bed waitress ROSALIA and DAVID who made sure we always had a drink in hand during the day. Shame about the seaweed issue which is effecting the entire coast at the minute. Also, the Taxis are expensive, even more so when there is 5 in the party as the price automatically doubles. Overall, we all had a great holiday. Thank you to all!

An honest review

Been back for a few days after spending a week at the TUI Sensatori Azul Beach Resort & writing things review to give you an idea of what the trip was like for our family.

After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a bit worried about the trip in the days running up to our holiday. Thankfully, it was nothing like some of the negatives others have experienced.

Before we left, I enquired about an upgrade to the premium suites but was told that none were available via TUI but we could ask on arrival. I did that & found the price to upgrade reasonable so went with it. The room itself was spacious, clean & the view from the balcony was perfect, we could see the sea while having privacy thanks to a overhang to cover rooms on the second floor.

The added premium features included access to the premium pool, a pillow menu & a choice of aroma therapy at turn down.

The majority of our stay was around the pool area, most days we booked a Bali bed through the pool attendants. The queue to book started to form at 2:50pm as they could only be booked at 3pm. Prestige (the members club - more on that later) could pre book through the concierge & you could also book a picnic to guarantee a Bali bed if you didn't want to queue. I didn't mind standing there & chatting to the pool attendants & other guests waiting for bookings to open so all good.

The days we didn't book the beds, we found sun loungers easily & the were comfortable as well as being clean. In premium, the towels were set up for us once we had left something on the loungers after 7am & while we went for breakfast.

There was also the premium section on the beach which we used on a few occasions without booking.

A lot has been said about the seaweed problem & yes there is seaweed which is a consequence of us as humans causing changes to the environment. We were still able to walk into the water & if you don't mind a bit of seaweed passing you, it's all good. There are a few beach fronts a 10 minute walk away where the barriers are working better & you can go into the water with no seaweed. Basically, if you want to be negative & complain, you have a slight reason but if you are a more positive person who wants to enjoy your holiday, you will be fine with the other options for beach activities whether free or on excursions.

Respect to the team of staff who were out all day, every day cleaning the beachfront in the direct heat.

A plus point for the resort is the food, absolutely amazing options.

Zavaz was by far the favourite with good choices for breakfast, lunch & dinner. We also went to Zocalo which has a great atmosphere & good Mexican food, Tapas was great too with good sized portions which filled us right up.

Normally people turn their noses up at buffet dining but Spoons was great with their breakfast & lunch options as well as a changing theme every night which included Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican & a Surf n Turf night with seafood & burger options. The desserts were amazing & this included the ice cream machine in the kids food corner. The beach BBQ was a good option for lunch too, nice to sit on the beach side & graze on a light snack.

The resort has plenty of activities on & the gym is on point also. Didn't utilise the spa even though a 45 minute hydrotherapy session was included as a TUI guest.

We booked a Dolphin Experience through the hotel excursion team who are situated in the towel huts or lobby. It was a good experience with the Dolphins in their natural environment with a responsible company who had a focus on educating guests on things we can do to save
oceanic life.

The biggest plus point for the resort is the staff.

Miguel, Ana & Roberto the premium pool attendants are some of the best people I have met in all my years of travelling, their level of hospitality was beyond what was expected. The kids bonded with them very well & they always went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed poolside. They are an asset to the resort & hope they are rewarded accordingly.

The waiters in the restaurants were always attentive & all of the hosts were friendly. Special mentions to Pedro in Tapas who was rushed off his feet but had our drinks refilled & with us before we ever needed to ask. Armando at Zavaz also made our last night an enjoyable one, a guy with a great character & excellent service. Jose at the premium concierge desk was always helpful & helped book the dinner reservations in advance for the times that suited us best, sometimes at short notice too.

If there was one down side to the stay it would be the Prestige members timeshare sales pitch. A guy called Sean went through it with us first & I am the type of person who wants to research in my own time before making decisions which he respected. The second guy who came to do a survey turned up the sales dial & it turned into a hard sell which switched me right off. The gift of $200 towards an activity was give for the wrong activity which they didn't explain properly & when Jose the concierge tried to correct for us, it was knocked down to $100 with the option of Jose paying the remainder from his own pocket, which I didn't want him to do so we settled with the $100.

Overall, the holiday was great & we even tried to extend for a few days. Hayley the TUI rep managed to get us a good price for the rooms but flights worked out too expensive as TUI don't transfer the flights & we would have to pay for new ones (the cost of return flights for a 1 way trip are not worth it).

If you are thinking of staying here, I hope this review helps, a few of the other guests were also talking about some of the reviews & we had a laugh at the one where someone has complained that it was too hot. Reviews are our own opinions based on what we have experienced, go to the resort knowing that it is a good place for families & if you have issues, speak up right away & let the staff see what they can do to improve your stay. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Would definitely recommend!

Me and my partner stayed at the Azul Beach Resort Cancun was perfect. It’s good for families too, so many things to do.
Every member of staff was so friendly. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at throughout the day/evening.
We liked the Zavaz for lunch, as it was always the closest one to where we like to sit at the beach. Always greeted by Javier and Rolando serving us throughout our holiday in the restaurant.
Most of the time we was too lazy to get up for a drink off the sunbed, but on the beach Jose is always walking up and down taking your orders and getting you whatever you would like. Always so friendly and loves to make sure your enjoying your stay and gets you to try the Mexican water!
Would highly recommend this hotel for everyone!!
