Lovely holiday!

This was our second visit to Sensatori Riviera Maya and I’m going to leave an openly honest review. I’m shocked at some reviews here but you’re never gonna satisfy everyone!!

ADULT POOL: there are 15 Bali beds and approximately 15 sun loungers around this pool. Unless you got up at 6am to sit with your towels. ... you have no chance of getting a bed round this pool. The hotel says they do not allow reservations of sun beds before 7am and have security measures to remove unused towels off beds- but this clearly isn’t adhered to. A better policing of this should be introduced and even better - remove the Bali beds and replace with loungers
We had a swim up room and disappointed to find Only 1 sun lounger so we ended up going to the beach.

The choice of RESTAURANTS were more than adequate ! Mexican restaurant (our fave) - served lovely sea bass and Pablo & Roberto were great waiters!

BEACH ACTIVITIES - volleyball / yoga/ HIIT/ Zumba Great entertainment team and a special shout out to Mauricio & Gio!!

The STAFF were always friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. We never experienced any rudeness - was always greeted with lovely smiles and welcoming words

BEACH : there is seaweed here but you will find that in almost every beach along the Riviera. They work tirelessly to clean this up several times a day. Some days it’s very little - depending on if the sea is rough and churning it up IT Didn’t bother us tho. The sea is not the beautiful blue colour it was 3 years ago - but again it didn’t bother us that much.

TUI REPS. on the2 occasions we needed to speak to them - both Callum and Beth were extremely helpful - really going out of their way to help

MOSQUITOES: yes they were there and I did witness some guests with terrible bites. We were lucky in so far between me and my husband were bitten 3 times between us. I recommend Avon’s Skin so soft spray moisturiser. This is recommended by the SAS And I’ve used this the past couple of years and I can tell you it works! It’s promoted by GMTV’s Dr Hilary who tells you the SAS connection !!

Oh and get up and watch the sunrise - it’s beautiful

My rating of 4 stars is purely down to the lack of beds around the adult pool and the reserving of sun beds !

All in all we had a fab holiday and we’ll definitely be back in a couple of years ????????

Lack of “Five Star” appeal propped up by excellent service and staff.

All in all we had a lovely holiday, largely in thanks to the staff who work there, they work tirelessly to look after you and make you feel welcome. Alex, Abigail and Geo were particularly good at keeping people entertained around the pool during the day.
The waiting staff around the pool were also brilliant and you never went wanting as far as service is concerned in particular Zavala, Mariana, Evelio, and Miguel didn’t seem to stop working on keeping everyone drinking. Our favourite restaurant was Tapas (the brisket sliders were a good choice if your hungry) Alajandro and Pedro again were all over the service. La Chic, which is the private restaurant is also worth making an effort to book (speak to the concierge, about how to do this, but it wasn’t any real effort and did feel quite special)
Really the staff in this hotel make the place outstanding from a customer service perspective, and whatever else is said about the hotel, if you relax and just try to enjoy yourself regardless of your expectations around the decor you will have a lovely time, I know we did.
However, you will notice that it is a Sensatori hotel, and, having stayed at a Sensatori before we definitely had an expectation that it would be 5* luxury. If 5* luxury is important to you then I would say this is not the hotel for you. As we understand it Tui has marketed Sensatori as their top end 5* luxury brand and even use the term “LUXURY HOLIDAYS DESIGNED TO FUEL THE SENSES” and in answer to their own question “what makes Tui Sensatori?” They use “FIVE-STAR SURROUNDINGS” as one of the headlines. Honestly if you are expecting the above you will be disappointed, it just doesn’t have the “look and feel” of a luxury hotel, premium area or not. The decor just feels a bit drab and tired in places with many parts of it in dire need of repair and re-decoration, there’s plenty of flakey paint loose tiles and the accommodation itself is just lack-lustre with very little of the premium luxury feel you will have no doubt based your holiday choice on. We in fact visited a family life hotel 4 years ago and agreed that the level of luxury at the Mexico hotel was far closer to the family life than it was to the Sensatori in ibiza we visited 2 years ago.
As I stated above we did not let this ruin our holiday, we had a cracking time regardless and ultimately felt that our precious time together was too important to spend it being disappointed about the lack of 5* appearance of our hotel. Again I will mention the staff who work here who really do demonstrate an outstanding level of service.
On a side note, if you like to snorkel off your hotel beach or are expecting perfect crystal clear Azul blue waters, you will be sorely disappointed, we had heard that the sea was some what seaweed clogged (which it was and again thanks to the tireless efforts of staff, who kept it largely off the beach, it was mostly in the water) but it’s not just the sea weed, the water is very murky along much of the coast line, apparently this has been caused largely by the more recent hurricanes? preventable? Definitely not, communicable? Yes, certainly by Tui who shouldn’t be misleading customers with photos that don’t depict the sea as it actually is. In addition there were a lot of sandbags being used to bolster the beach and prevent sand erosion, again is this something that Tui have control over? Probably not, but it doesn’t add up to make you feel like your in a tropical paradise especially when a massive new hotel is being built right next door. For these reasons I have given the hotel the average rating I have, and only really that high because the staff were so outstanding. Will we use Tui again? Probably not but we would certainly never book another Sensatori we just don’t trust that the brand is either worth the money or offers what can be considered 5* luxury.

Relaxing getaway

Stayed for 11 nights at TUI Sensatori, we had a couple of minor issues with our room on the first night but the staff were more than helpful when these were reported and they dealt with the problems very promptly. The resort and amenities were excellent and the weather was fantastic, we had some heavy rain showers at times but they quickly dispersed and it didn’t spoil our holiday, it is very typical for this time of year. The food was excellent, good quality and the overall service by the waiting staff was fantastic. The room we stayed in was very spacious, the amenities were all there however some of the fixtures and fittings were a little tired looking, but it was very comfortable and the air con is a must. We must give a big thumbs up to Dorian who ran the premium section he is an asset to the hotel and he made our holiday, nothing was too much trouble. The rest of the poolside staff also were so friendly and always made sure we had everything we needed. All that said great hotel and would definitely come again.
