How to Get There
As soon as we arrived at Secrets we felt relaxed and welcomed! The staff are extremely happy and professional. Food is excellent - the choices of al la carte restaurants as well as the buffet (during the day by the pool) and the buffet restaurant was always tasty! Eddie, the waiter in the buffet always made time for a chat and to see what we were up to and if we were okay! Our favourite restaurant was by far the teppanyaki, sitting at the chef’s table...dinner and a show and a definite must do if you are staying in this hotel! Florentino was absolutely amazing! His cooking skills and sense of humour absolutely made our night! Our waiter also during this 🥘 was exceptional! Another favourite was the cactus beach cafe, where we were always welcomed with a smile whether it be for breakfast or lunch! A special mention to Denis and Campero who looked after us so well! Remembering our names and orders really made us feel valued as customers! The only bug bear we had was that for two of the restaurants the men are required to wear trousers...not really what you want in the heat! There are signs all around the hotel stating they don’t discriminate....but then the men have to cover themselves up and the women are practically naked. Not quite fair service there; but we sucked it up as the food was so amazing I forced my hubby to grab his long trousers from the bottom of his case on more than one occasion! We didn’t take advantage of the spa or their treatments due to their high costs!!! Only to be then offered the same service at 25% of the original price on our last but one day. They should be offering their service at this price to begin with. We decided to do a few trips out and felt completely safe to be out of the complex at all times. Chichen Itza and swimming in a cenote was amazing, although quite a long drive from the hotel...it took just over 2 hours I think...
The wildlife around the hotel is so nice to see! The iguanas chilling out just outside the pool area and the family of raccoon type monkey things munching away, we took the kayaks down the lagoon nearby to have the family of raccoons walk across the branches above us!We also spotted a deer from our balcony!
We have had an amazing holiday and would love to come back!
My first trip to Mexico exceeded my expectations, Mexicans are real angels! Great service, food, and the country es BEAUTIFUL! Playa del Carmen is a great destination for shopping, eating and drinking.
This resort is so beautiful and the staff is so friendly, we had a great time! However, I want to focus this review on the food at the resort.
I have celiac disease and therefore I can't have any food that contains gluten or anything that may come in contact with it. I am BEYOND impressed with this place when It comes to accommodating this. Every menu was labelled what was gluten free and the servers were very aware on what gluten is, the drink menus even had a section on gluten free drinks. They had pizza, bread, pasta, desert, anything you can think of! They were sure to make sure no cross contamination occurred by cooking their gf food in separate areas. At one point my fiancé ordered room service only for himself and right after he placed his order we got a call from room service making sure that none of the food was for me because it was not gluten free!
It can be stressful travelling and having to be worried about getting sick. This resort took that stress away and I was able to enjoy this trip to the fullest like everyone else. I am so thankful!
We love this resort. It is not one of those huge impersonal places. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food is great and there are plenty of dining options. The entire resort is close to the water and the property is not so spread out that it is difficult to get around. There are activities and entertainment all day long. There is always something to do. This our 6th visit and we are already planning our return next year.
Amazing resort. This was my first time on an all inclusive and it was amazing. I will recommand this resort to all my friends and family. All the staff ar very friendly and polite. Always ready to help pour. Thank you!
