How to Get There
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, IT HAS NO HOT WATER FOR SHOWERS AND THE POOL IS A JOKE AND THE EMPLOYEES TREAT YOU LIKE YOU ARE SCUM. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel now for several years and never have we been treated so poorly as we were on this trip. When we arrived we were given a room that was horrible, it had a door adjoining to another room and the balcony had a view of the air conditioning units. I went back to reception and told the person that was there that there was some mistake, when we stayed in March (two months ago) and reserved the same room type we were given a corner room with a balcony that had a view of the street. The person at the reception was extremely unfriendly and unwilling to help us, only when I called Expedia to try to cancel the reservation where we given a room that was a bit better. Even though I did everything possible, Expedia nor the hotel were willing to cancel my reservation so we can go to a better hotel. Even though we were given a different room the experience only got worse. The hotel employees treat the customer like if we are all thieves and low lives. We ordered dinner one night to be billed to the room and even though the reception said it was OK when the food came the waiter wanted the payment. The pool is not a real pool, its a shallow three foot pool. There IS NO HOT WATER in any room. All of our showers were with cold water, you turn on the shower and hot water comes on for one minute and then it goes cold. We tried our best to cancel the reservation and go somewhere else however the hotel and Expedia did not help us. We did see other hotels for a future trip and i will tell you there are much better places, cheaper and nicer.
We loved the ambiance & red light theme of this hotel as well as the location and the price we were quoted. I would have love to leave a great review for this hotel but unfortunately I can't and here are the reasons why:
We checked-in Friday 5/24, Saturday morning the cleaning lady entered our room around 9:30 am as we were leaving. When we got back to our room Saturday night we realized $5000 pesos (approx $260 USD) disappeared from our luggage! We know for fact it had to be the cleaning lady. It was brought to the attention of front desk supervisor. A report was filed. They said they would check the cameras.(Not sure what good this would do, but anyway) It was concluded that the only people to enter our room was myself, my 2 family members AND the cleaning lady. The hotel supervisor suggested that maybe one of us took our own money. LOL
I immediately logged into TripAdvisor to read reviews and guess what?? Sounds like other guests have had money disappeared/stolen in the past too. I wish I would have read the reviews before checking in.
Second, checked out yesterday 5/27 and checked my credit card statement this morning, I see the hotel charged my card twice. This is not a pending charge. They actually charged me twice. I called them and they said they would look into it. I've already let me bank know this because based on our reviews on here it seems like this hotel is not too easy to work with when it comes to refunds. Wish me luck.
Third, The shower pressure sucked, literally would take 20 minutes in the shower because the water pressure sucked, barely any water coming out from shower and water temperature was either freezing cold or steaming hot no matter where you put the lever.
The POSITIVES are that its a great location, great price and the employees were overall friendly, except for when the stolen money issue came up. I did not like that they suggested one of us took our own money.
If you stay here...Do not leave any valuables/cash in your room. I also read on TripAdvisor there's been issues with the safe boxes too, so apparently you can't really trust those either! Overall we would never stay here again.
Had a great room with lots of space and the wait/room staff ensure I received all amenities requested. The roof pool area was a good place to just hang out at and get some sun. Raul, Natalia and all other staff members ensure I was happy with everything and were great. This hotel is on 20th Street and just feet from 5th Avenue, so within a few feet/meters I was able to walk and enjoy the shops, restaurants and beaches of Playa De Carmen.
