How to Get There
I can not express enough how people should avoid this resort.
Just the fact alone that I almost CUT MY THUMB OFF ON THEIR COUCH, would be enough and that is my basis for this review. Not only did I have to get 2 stitches because they had a couch ( the bottom pulls out and comes up but was totally detached) that was faulty, THE OWNER NEVER BOTHERED RESPONDING TO MY EMAILS OR TO MALE SURE IM OK!!!!! I’m still hurt 2 weeks plus later & have heard nothing! Also, I KNOW I’m in Mexico, but as a resort, there should be someone who speaks English at ALL TIMES! I can count the number of people who I was able to speak to ( I speak some but not enough) & that would be 3! And if I didn’t catch them in those hours, I couldn’t get what I needed. When I showed them my finger, instead of getting me a doctor, they handed me a first aid kit. BTW, THE ROOM WAS OVER $4000 FOR 7 DAYS!!!!!!! I’m beyond upset and will NEVER go to this resort in my life again!
We loved everything about Pure Mareazul. Our villa was lovely, comfortable, convenient, well positioned and spotless. The pool there is the biggest pool I have ever seen in my life, with so much room my three sons (10, 14 and 17) could play raucous games in it with balls and frisbees with no one in the area to be disturbed by them. Absolutely brilliant, and the little snack bar in the middle of the pool has pretty good food. The location is great, on the northern edge of Playa del Carmen. (You'll need a rental car, though.)
Unfortunately the beaches all along the Mayan Riviera this summer were covered in yucky seaweed, so no one is really using the beaches much at present. There is a watersports hut on the beach though, from which we went banana boating and parasailing, which were both great fun. The prices were quite reasonable too. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but I think it was about $25 per person.
There is plenty to do in the Playa area besides beaches, though, and Pure Mareazul is a great place to do them from! Highly recommended!
booked it a couple of months ago.we did choose the resort only for Playa Del Carmens pure white sandy beaches and blue water. arrived and found all the be areas beaches covered in stinky seaweed, Nothing mention at the time of booking, nothing on their social media pages. Not even chance to get in the water once during out stay.
pool good but not that nice with waft of rotten eggs smell from the sea. rooms nice, oven never worked but reported it 4 times but they did not seem bothered.
taxi from the hotel and into the centre cost 160 pesos each way. and to far to walk.
do youself a favour and find the fact of the state of the beaches before you decide to book in the area and expect to snorkel or sit on the beach/ play in the sea.. luckily we did stay in cozumel before arriving in playa and there is no seaweed in cozumel
This place was very quiet and nearly empty with the largest and most beautiful pool I have ever seen. So it actually didn’t matter that the beaches were covered in seaweed, because we spent all of our time by the pool. The only drawback to our stay was that the rooms, although spacious, were not planned out for practical living. There were no handles inside the shower stall to close the stiff door hinge, the dishwasher was not functional, no cutting board or blender for the kitchen, no ice with noisy ice maker. We regret going to Telum, which was a tourist trap, and missing out a day we could have had at the magnificent pool.
This place is really quiet! The grounds are almost always empty which leaves you with a feeling that you have the place to yourself.
I got the room with the swim up pool and jetted tub outside. The pool wasn't that great and had some issues.
The room itself was really nice, we had 3 bathrooms for some reason but it was awesome. The kitchen has all new appliances but you will need to bring your own utensils and condiments.
I would come back here and probably not get the swim up pool.
