How to Get There
Good location, good staff, but honestly, that was it for me. We spent 10 nights there, 10 nights without proper sleep, with loud music every night, until 2am - as if they were playing inside of the room, the windows are not sound proof at all - and then, on the next day, the housekeepers are loud, banging everywhere, there is a construction next door that wakes you up bright and early... very unpleasant.
The bed is hard, not very comfy and the shower has barely any pressure or water. It was drops. We left earlier than expected.
Breakfast is served in a restaurant in front of the hotel, it’s alright. The staff there are really nice.
The location is great, next to restaurants, shoppings, short walking distance to the beach. They also offer beach towels, which is a plus for me.
If you like cockroach, totally unkind and arrogant staff, who does not speak English - then is this place to be for you. They lied to us about terms and also locked our room, when we were outside, even if all of our stuffs were inside (even the documents and money). We were 14 days there and they did not change even bed sheets. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED! NOT WORTH the money! The only good thing is location, but anyway the half of year are seaweeds in Playa del Carmen, so you can not swim at all....
The hotel doesn't look nearly as on the photos/videos on Booking or Youtube. The staff is rude, rooms are dirty with a lot of insects. Not worth the money at all! The reality is that this is an overpriced hostel. Ask for bathroom photos!
My 1st and only stay was around 14yrs ago? when this hotel was new. There were few "modern" properties back then, and even though it was "far" from town, it was great. I returned for 1 night last week, and can tell you the hotel is EXACTLY as it was back then. Nothing has changed. Decor is the same. Now, it's a quaint, charming older property, in a good location on 5 Ave. Great wifi coverage throughout hotel. Indeed, all TV channels are in Spanish, but I dont see any Malagasy speakers in USA or here complaining about them not having their language available on TV. Also who watches TV nowadays? And in Playa? No restaurant on site, continental breakfast served a few steps away, serving fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee, all very fresh. No parking available. No amenities available. Great toiletries. Blowdryer available in room. Many seating areas throughout the hotel to chill. Open air property with nice lush greenery hanging about lobby. Harder mattresses, but comfortable. Hot water readily available. Good water pressure. AC blows cold. Mini fridge in room. Towels are thin, but dry well. Single ply toilet paper. Walking upstairs is easy. Impeccably clean room and public areas. If price is in the "budget" range, this property cannot be beat. Beach is a short stroll away, and now in the middle of it all in Playa.
A small hotel on the heart of everything. Rustic, a little aged but clean. We booked our tours with the hotel and wasn’t any different from the street vendor prices. We liked the fact that you can always go back to a face, if problems arise. Same applied for our return taxi to Cancun (actually cheaper than street quotes). Loud during the night, but a little price to pay for being in the middle of everything. We’ll book again on our next trip.
