Cozy hotel, great location
Reviewed 3 days ago

Good price por a nice room and great location, right on the 5th Av. (Which is Playa del Carmen´s most famous street, all the businesses are there)
The staff was nice and friendly. We enjoyed our stay, good sleep (something I value a lot)

Great location, bad administration

I stayed for 3 nights at posada mariposa. The hotel has great potential because of good location but irregular service and lack of criteria as well as bad taste in decoration will make me choose a different hotel next time. The shower in my bedroom was very bad, insufficient water caused that a regular bath takes 20 mins. Beds are noisy. The worst thing is that client service is not the priority of the front desk employees. My flight was delayed for 10 hours so I had to stay until evening. I asked for a place to get a shower. One of my friends was staying for an extra night so I asked to take a shower in that room. The girl in the front desk said : “not visitors allowed” , she offered the restroom lobby which had a terrible shower and she was unable to provide a towel.
I understand that they had no vacancy but they should be flexible to let me in to shower in my friend’s room, they could also ask me to pay half a day to keep my room to shower or at least provide a towel with extra charge. They simply don’t want to help.

The worst hotel ever! Don't stay here!

This is the worst hotel stayed in, the rooms are old and dated (mold in the shower, rust the toilet tabs) nothing like the pictures they have on booking to advertise the hotel ($220 per night), plus the staff they really don't care. When I booked I asked for a quite room, but unfortunately this wasn't the case, the room was just across the reception and from there I knew I would have problems and my prediction was correct. Next door to my room there were two families with kids up talking and screaming until the early hour (2-3 o'clock in the morning) I made my complain to reception asking them to please take care of it and after 3 days nothing was done, then I asked to speak with the Manager and again the stuff was very vague and I couldn't speak with anyone in charge, so my only option to get something done was to call booking and after 10-15 minutes on the phone with them they eventually changed my room but again the room was very old and dated, the only difference was quieter. They also advertise a use of a gym on booking but at check in they don't tell you that they only have 1 pass (for two people max) so you need to wait for them to come back, plus the continental breakfast it's a joke, few pieces of fruits 2 toast with a bit of jam, orange juice and coffee. Plus on the day of departure they forgot to tell the taxi (booked with them a return trip) company to come at 3.30pm and instead of say sorry they were making up excuses that I asked for a 4.30pm when the day before I did tell reception that I wanted the pick up at 3.30pm, overall a really bad experience. Please do yourself a favour don't stay here there are better places in Playa at much cheaper rate. Picture attached as proof!

Good location

Good location, good staff, but honestly, that was it for me. We spent 10 nights there, 10 nights without proper sleep, with loud music every night, until 2am - as if they were playing inside of the room, the windows are not sound proof at all - and then, on the next day, the housekeepers are loud, banging everywhere, there is a construction next door that wakes you up bright and early... very unpleasant.
The bed is hard, not very comfy and the shower has barely any pressure or water. It was drops. We left earlier than expected.

Breakfast is served in a restaurant in front of the hotel, it’s alright. The staff there are really nice.

The location is great, next to restaurants, shoppings, short walking distance to the beach. They also offer beach towels, which is a plus for me.

Worst hotel ever!

If you like cockroach, totally unkind and arrogant staff, who does not speak English - then is this place to be for you. They lied to us about terms and also locked our room, when we were outside, even if all of our stuffs were inside (even the documents and money). We were 14 days there and they did not change even bed sheets. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED! NOT WORTH the money! The only good thing is location, but anyway the half of year are seaweeds in Playa del Carmen, so you can not swim at all....
