How to Get There
My husband and I arrived at the hotel to celebrate our honeymoon and birthdays, a decision that turned out to be excellent!
Amazing place, surpassing all expectations, service level we do not know, fine dining, super pampering rooms, cleaning of hospital.
Recommended plus plus plus!
At the customer service center we met a girl named Catalina rodriguez in the morning when we arrived at the restaurant, asked if we were celebrating something and told her.
Towards the afternoon, she came to the room on her own, filled with balloons and a bottle of champagne, and arranged for us a pampering romantic Jacuzzi. We were shocked at her thought and this is not taken for granted at all!
This review is for the Jr swimup room. I booked one of these rooms bc I was traveling alone and wanted to just relax in the pool all day. The room completely lost sun at 11am! I was very disappointed and went to the front desk to ask if they could switch my room. They said all the Jr swim up rooms were on that side of the hotel and would have the same account of sun. The other swim up rooms where there was sun must of the day were unfortunately sold out. So there was nothing they could do. So if you are going to layout in front of your room so not book the Jr swim up rooms. Upgrade to the 1 bedroom or master swim up rooms.
As for the rest of the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice, modern and clean. The staff was excellent and very nice. The food was very good, but there was a lot of seafood so if you don't eat that there was only a limited selection at each restaurant. Overall I would recommend this hotel as long as you book the right room.
Good Resort with great staff and good food. Pools were nice and clean. Resort was clean and organized with great service. The restaurants were quick and courteous. The services available on the resort for off site excursions were great and very helpful. The staff members were all very nice and greeted with hello and how are you every time you saw them.
We had a swim-up junior suite in the adult only side of the hotel.
Part of the deal with our travel agent, is that rooms have a coffee maker. This was absent when we arrived, though the rep got it delivered next day. Some days the coffee was not stocked and it took varying degrees of effort to get some! On one occasion , asking, and phoning failed to produce results. I went to reception to be told "our rooms do not have coffee makers". I had to insist that they do and that we had had coffee on previous days restocked.
Given that the hotel caters mainly to US guests, it was odd to say the least.
Following day, 2 members of staff called to deliver a coffee maker. They had 3 with them, so looks like they were delivering to several rooms. I guess this is down to organisation problems.
Restock of water and mini bar were a bit hit & miss.
Other than this, the room was a good size and comfortable.
There are a number of restaurants to choose from, we visited most, and booking was never a problem, even on the same day.
Obviously the key is to be flexible and/or book well in advance.
Although we were asked about allergies when we booked each, this appeared not to be communicated to the restaurants in advance.
This was only a problem once, at LA PALAPA, when my wife was simply told "nothing for you" because she is gluten intolerant. All the other restaurants were able to provide gluten free bread and more.
La Palapa was the only restaurant where we were not made to feel welcome. Possibly because staff were focussing on the young, female guests at other tables.
The breakfast buffet was well stocked, (though did run out of plates at one meal), with a good choice. The hotel does cater mainly to the US market, so the food was primarily aimed at US tastes.
The staff here are exceptional and were very quick to help us find a suitable table and store the wheelchair.
As often seems to be the case, the 'omelette lady' was a gem. My wife only needed to approach and she was off to organise gluten free bread.
As is the norm in tropical hotels, there is wildlife about :)
There are several lovely Iguanas, who keep themselves out of the way of humans but are always a pleasure to see.
We even had a pair of Coatis visit the pool area once, mainly attracted to all the waste food in a bin. (the staff had no chance of keeping up with this!!) Regrettably, I didn't have a camera to hand and this was our only sight of them.
We saw very few insects. Applying mosquito repellent is highly advised though. They WILL find anyone not wearing it!
We had no problem with the wheelchair and were able to get everywhere without issue.
We spend wonderful days in the hotel. The hotel is good and we love the beach.
The food and service was good. Special thx to Maria Dolores Jurado! She was really kind and make us feel comfortable! Hope to see you soon again.
