Overview

An upscale beachfront retreat on the shores of the Mexican Caribbean, just north of Playa del Carmen

The Lowdown

Class up your next Caribbean getaway at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, a chic retreat on the sands of Playa del Carmen. One of the top-ranked hotels in town on TripAdvisor, this boutique base shows off a modern and minimalist take on tropical design, among beautifully landscaped grounds. Step out of your light-filled, open-plan guest room to discover three glittering sleek swimming holes and the Mayakoba Resort’s peaceful lagoons and lush gardens – all crisscrossed by more than three miles of nature trails that you can explore on a complimentary bike.
Also enjoy a bit of local flavor, along with the locally inspired style. One of the hotel’s highlights is its dining program, comprising four restaurants and specializing in Yucatán street-food and seafood dishes: tacos, tortas and ceviche, for instance. And once you’ve taken in the sights and sounds and treated your taste buds the regional cuisine, get your sense of touch in on the Mexican Caribbean experience. Stop by the hydrotherapy spa, and surrender yourself to the hands of a seasoned therapist, in a beachy wellness treatment.

Rooms

Your room is a tropical oasis, a breezy, light-filled, open-plan hideaway that features minimalist lines, decorative tiles and local artworks. You’ll enjoy having your very own terrace or balcony, overlooking your choice of lagoons or sea.

Dining

Savor the flavors of Latin American cooking at the four eateries and drinkeries. Casa Amate is the most formal of the bunch, while Cocina Milagro opens all day for seafood dishes, presented buffet-style, and OllaTaco and OllaCeviche serve their namesake specialties on the beach. Room service is also available, 24 hours a day.

Spa

Six treatment rooms with two hydrotherapy areas, plus a salon, make up the peaceful wellness center, where you can go for a beachy spa treatment or beauty service. The full-service fitness center holds cardio machines and a yoga studio and complements the three miles of biking and jogging nature trails outside.

Location

Since you’re right on the Mexican Caribbean, your first order of business will likely be beach bumming – or perhaps appreciating the seaside in a more active way, such as snorkeling, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding or taking a sunrise-yoga lesson on the sands. Sign up for a guided kayak tour of the lagoons, as well, or ride a complimentary bike through the three miles of nature trails. The concierge can schedule tee time at the surrounding resort’s Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón golf course and academy, and you can avail yourself of this larger property’s tennis courts, archery-lesson offerings and croquet equipment; simply hop on the Mayakoba Connection Ferry Service. Younger guests may visit the convenient kids club.

Loved the Mayakoba property when staying earlier in 2017 at the Fairmont Mayakoba for a business trip. when choosing a location for an annual family New Year's getaway the Andaz Mayakoba seemed as the obvious choice. So HAPPY we choose it.

Excellent experience. Hotel property is beautiful set in the jungle with mangroves. It really provides a retreat experience. The architecture is modern which adds a nice setting. All restaurants on property provided authentic Mexican cuisine. The staff was excellent during a very busy time of year. We loved the water-sport offerings at the playa. Complimentary kayaking & paddle boards really add to the fun beach experience. A really lovely celebration on the beach for New Years filled with fireworks and local music. We loved walking or riding our bikes back and forth to the playa each day. We did find that bikes were hard to find during peak hours. We would recommend that the hotel assign bikes at check-in this way you have a assigned bikes per room also then you can select the size you require for your height.

We redeemed Hyatt loyalty points and found good value for money.
Looking forward to staying again.

How soon can I go back??

I travel a lot but there are very few hotels I ever plan to go back to. This is one of them. Beautiful, peaceful, and super relaxing it’s simply one of the best. I’m a very light sleeper and it was so quiet I slept better than at home. The room was beautiful and I really enjoyed the canal front location. I was initially worried about being far from the beach but it was actually a pleasant surprise as it was a lot quieter than the beach/pool area. Also, I rarely ever had to wait for a golf cart and bikes were always available. It made it fun to explore the resort area more this way too. All the staff went out of their way to accommodate and be friendly and the food! I’ve never wished I signed up for all inclusive at a resort before but I would gladly do it next time. We also loved being able to hop in an SUV and get a ride whenever we wanted to restaurants at the other Mayakoba properties. I really struggled with whether I wanted to stay closer to town or here and remarked almost every day how glad I was with the choice. PDC is very much touristy party town and Mayakoba is paradise. Seriously, how soon can I go back?? ;)

Outstanding!

My wife and I spent 3 days at this beautiful resort. We were celebrating our anniversary and had an amazing stay. We normally stay at the Cancun hotel zone but we love the mayakoa area so much more. It feels like you are in the middle of the jungle with easy access to a beautiful beach and resort pools. It is a very spread out property but there are bikes and golf carts that get you around with ease. We are vegetarian and enjoyed delicious, healthy and unique foods at all three restaurants. Teresa and Martin at 2 of the restaurants treated us very well. The staff seemed very willing to accommodate any requests we had and recognized our anniversary in many ways. I loved the eco boat tours and nature trails. We hope to return again soon.

Beautiful, Remote resort near Playa Del Carmen

We enjoyed 3 days of quiet at the Andaz Mayakoba. We were in a secluded bungalo, with bicycles to ride to and from the beach and on site restaurants. A taxi to town will cost you $21 each way, and if you want food or drinks that are not overly priced, be sure to stock up before arrival, as there are no stores for miles. Overall, we had an enjoyable relaxing stay, as if we were in our own private resort. Very very few people where around our entire stay. So if your looking for relaxation away from the crowd this is a perfect place to recoup from the world.
