The Lowdown

Class up your next Caribbean getaway at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, a chic retreat on the sands of Playa del Carmen. One of the top-ranked hotels in town on TripAdvisor, this boutique base shows off a modern and minimalist take on tropical design, among beautifully landscaped grounds. Step out of your light-filled, open-plan guest room to discover three glittering sleek swimming holes and the Mayakoba Resort’s peaceful lagoons and lush gardens – all crisscrossed by more than three miles of nature trails that you can explore on a complimentary bike.
Also enjoy a bit of local flavor, along with the locally inspired style. One of the hotel’s highlights is its dining program, comprising four restaurants and specializing in Yucatán street-food and seafood dishes: tacos, tortas and ceviche, for instance. And once you’ve taken in the sights and sounds and treated your taste buds the regional cuisine, get your sense of touch in on the Mexican Caribbean experience. Stop by the hydrotherapy spa, and surrender yourself to the hands of a seasoned therapist, in a beachy wellness treatment.

Your room is a tropical oasis, a breezy, light-filled, open-plan hideaway that features minimalist lines, decorative tiles and local artworks. You’ll enjoy having your very own terrace or balcony, overlooking your choice of lagoons or sea.

Savor the flavors of Latin American cooking at the four eateries and drinkeries. Casa Amate is the most formal of the bunch, while Cocina Milagro opens all day for seafood dishes, presented buffet-style, and OllaTaco and OllaCeviche serve their namesake specialties on the beach. Room service is also available, 24 hours a day.

Six treatment rooms with two hydrotherapy areas, plus a salon, make up the peaceful wellness center, where you can go for a beachy spa treatment or beauty service. The full-service fitness center holds cardio machines and a yoga studio and complements the three miles of biking and jogging nature trails outside.

Since you’re right on the Mexican Caribbean, your first order of business will likely be beach bumming – or perhaps appreciating the seaside in a more active way, such as snorkeling, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding or taking a sunrise-yoga lesson on the sands. Sign up for a guided kayak tour of the lagoons, as well, or ride a complimentary bike through the three miles of nature trails. The concierge can schedule tee time at the surrounding resort’s Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón golf course and academy, and you can avail yourself of this larger property’s tennis courts, archery-lesson offerings and croquet equipment; simply hop on the Mayakoba Connection Ferry Service. Pure Luxury Experience

The Mayakoba area is beautiful by itself and the Andaz adds to the overall experience. We had a combined family of nine staying at the Andaz and all of us believe it was one of the best vacations we've ever had. Service was excellent from the moment you enter the property. I strongly recommend this resort to families and couples looking to get away to a relaxing spot.

Another great experience in Andaz Mayakoba

This resort is a slice paradise and the staff is top notch top to bottom. We recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Mayakoba . Go enjoy the sea, the food but most of all the people. Try a spicy margarita at Ola Taco. It’s the best ever.

Property is relatively new. Rooms are very clean, very comfortable and very relaxing. Staff and service was truly outstanding - very attentive and genuinely friendly. Property was spotless. Only wish we'd had more dining options on-site; a couple of the restaurants were closed during our stay. Mini-fridge in our room was cool but wouldn't get cold. Plunge pool wouldn't hold full level - kept going down to low level. Minor issues but remained unresolved for the week.

Solid stay, fun and great service

Place has improved in the past two years since I went last. Very good service, food is great and rooms are spotless and very nice. Really nice would recommend for a family or romantic vacation. Very relaxing and unique experience. Only comment is hotel should be a little more accommodating to Globalists. Most resorts allow globalists to use the spa facilities as a courtesy which is a nice touch and costs the hotel nothing, but makes loyal Hyatt customers feel valued. Not here. Also, very stingy with upgrades even during very low occupancy periods. Asked for a room or suite facing the beach and was denied.

Best family friendly resort, and one of the most romantic also,

Spoiled alert! The hotel is great.
With the motive of my daughter's birthday and my 11th anniversary celebration, we booked a suite at the beach area. The few videos and reviews about this hotel couldn't answered our questions about how big or private this place can be. We found this hotel a perfect example of privacy, minimalist luxury, excellent food, balanced with gorgeous grounds and serenity all around.
Perfect for families and honeymooners that want to spend time together and escape the craziness of big cities or nightlife.
This hotel is part of a huge complex. It will take you at least 3 days to have an idea of how big and classy Mayakoba can be.
The Good: The staff. Everybody in the hotel was always ready to help with answers about services, amenities, food, suggestions of what to do and where. Special mention to Dulce whose love for kids was a highlight in my daughters’ vacation. And Aldo, beach concierge, who with his professionalism and great personality made us feel at home.
Andaz’s restaurants had a slightly higher price than the other hotels at Mayakoba Complex. However the quality and quantity justify this difference. Keep in mind at the moment to order your meals, the portions are generous. Amate restaurant is our favorite, such a beautiful place. Flavors, fresh ingredients and a tasteful presentation in every of their plates. Amate is a must place to go at least once.
Keep in mind, this hotel is not for those who are in a rush or need service right away. The property is so big that take us around 5 minutes cart ride from our room to the buffet. No complaint about it, because just the ride for it gave us the feel of absolute peace and privacy. We have to take a golf cart every time that we need to move from our room to Milagro, the restaurant that offer breakfast. The ride takes 5 minutes, but my daughters love every second. The cart cross the complex, and we have the opportunity to see colorful birds, coatis, fish, iguanas and inclusive small alligators.
If you don't like to walk, wait or be surrounded by peace and with the only sound of waves and birds, this hotel is not for you. Don't expect a piano bar, shows or huge buildings. This hotel offers you the opportunity to connect with your loved ones.
There were moments that felt that we were the only people in the hotel. No kidding. Keep in mind at that time that we were there one the world’s biggest networks was shooting a soap opera, one fashion magazine had a model shooting and one of the most prestigious US financial magazines were working on a review. With all this, we never have a problem of lack of space or weak service.
Rooms are flawless, modern and minimalist decor, clean, room service is well timed. I mention privacy. Honeymooners don't think twice, it is for you.
The Bad: I have to be picky to find some flaw in the hotel. The only thing that buggy me is the welcome amenities for my daughters birthday was too simple. It is something that guess service need improve. The welcome amenities is not matching the level of luxury of the hotel. A simple word document sheet as welcome is nice, but feels completely out of the picture.
The Ugly: Sometimes nature. Two Mays in the row that we couldn’t enjoy the ocean due to seaweed. December was better for us. Weather is changing and this affecting this beautiful beaches. However There are plenty of things to do besides activities in the sea, Riviera Maya has a lot to offer and the hotel is perfectly located for it.
Special Thanks for the most lovely group of people we met, The kids club. My daughters met them at the beach a few days after our arrival. My 3 years old love them. She run every morning to play with them. I don't have enough words to describe how nice and amiable they were with my kids. The kids club is well equipped, clean, safe and friendly. We didn't use babysitter services, but I saw a kid with a babysitter and can see it were very professional.
In conclusion: We are going back. A very, very satisfied stay. Hoping that this 15Th time visiting Riviera Maya will be as good as our last one. Thanks Andaz,
