How to Get There
I stayed here for 3 days last week & cannot say enough about this hotel. I am very cautious of where I stay due to location, comfort, & food (no more all-inclusives). The Grand Hyatt met all my needs & some. The staff was ever so friendly & helpful. I had everything I needed, but they were always willing to provide more. I booked a King Swim-Up for myself. It was great, especially privacy in the pool. The room itself was exceptionally clean & comfortable. My only complaint is the noise from the side street. At night the street was filled with people who were celebrating the World Cup/stumbling home from the beach club. In the morning there was ongoing construction next door that began at 7am. It was so loud & audible it felt as if there was no door blocking the sound. If you're a light sleeper or have kids, maybe avoid the swim up rooms because they are practically ground level. The hotel itself is gorgeous & the architecture is beautiful. The lobby is vast & outdoors allowing you to enjoy the views of the pool & ocean. The pools are fantastic! Truly a sight & a great way to spend the day. The proximity to downtown Playa del Carmen is only one block up. There are plenty of dining options as well as nightlife/activities. All-in-all a good place to rest your head & enjoy yourself.
The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen is a great hotel with all the comforts expected. The service and thoughtful greetings are
welcomed and makes one feel that you are indeed a valued guest.
Would definitely return.
Honestly, this hotel exceeded my high expectations! All the staff were incredibly polite, friendly and respectful. I must say that David in the Club Lounge was particularly helpful and kind.
The rooms were beautiful, modern and spacious. We had a sea view room and it was stunning. The Mexican restaurant in the complex served excellent food - especially the quesadillas!
The pool area is beautiful, with plenty of beds to choose from. The waiters in the pool area were so lovely and attentive also. The cocktails were delicious.
The Grand Hyatt is in a fantastic location - right on the beachfront but also near to the main 'strip' of Playa del Carmen.
Overall, I can't fault this place (and I'm picky!) - I would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommend if you are planning on visiting Playa del Carmen!
We loved our time and experience at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen! The staff was great (so many to name, but a special thank you to Ms. Karen who was one of their guest relations staff, Mr. Carlos, one of the great pool and beach wait staff, Ms. Sandy at the ice cream shop, and Mr. Victor, the lifeguard that took care of our toddlers finger that he accidently cut), and often went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The property is beautiful and well managed, and is conveniently located just a block away from the main shopping and dining strip of 5a Avienda. The property is not necessarily promoted as a kid-friendly or family resort, but we went with our almost 3 year-old and the property had a good number of amenities (including kids club facilities) and accommodations and food options that made it perfect for the whole family.
Stayed at the Grand Hyatt for one week with my family. Had a fantastic time, rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Staff attentive to your needs and display genuine care, they like to work there and it shows. The sea is not at its best, due to the Sargassum seaweed phenomenon that is affecting the entire Caribbean and it is out of the hotel's (or anyone really) control but the pools make it up for it. Good food and beverage offerings, night activities and location.
