How to Get There
My partner and I went to this resort in Mexico in June 2017. We flew in the tui dreamliner, which was a great experience. This was my partners first long haul flight(about 10 hours) the flight wasn’t an issue, as we had free drinks and free food on this flight, and we had a selection of movies and tv programs that we could watch. The tui hostessess were first class. When we arrived in cancun airport in Mexico, we had to fill in our tourist visitor cards, and hand part of them to someone at the airport, just so they know who’s in the country, and so they know that you have to pay the tourist tax. The transfer time to the resort at riviera maya was about an hour and a half, great to see how other countries live. Our resort was huge, there was four hotels in the one, and as we were staying in the luxury Bahia principe alum all, we could use any of the other hotels facilities, pools, restraunts etc, there was a number of al-la-Carte restraunts as well, we used four of them, they were really good. The wildlife at this resort was also a great sight, from the coatis, to the agoutis, and there were lots of iguanas(large lizards) we saw a family of raccoons. Never saw any spiders or snakes though. Our room was a junior suite, which had a massive king size bed, we had our drinks in our fridge replenished every day, all part of the all-inclusive holiday, at the bar they served top branded drinks, including Bacardi, vodka(Smirnoff) and one of my favourites, drambui. There were a few pools all around the whole resort which we could use. We were in the sea, a few times, and saw some amazing looking fish, which swam right over to us, they were harmless. The Caribbean Sea was like going in to a warm bath, which was an amazing experience. A big thank you to tui, and to all the staff at the luxury Bahia principe and all the other parts that we used, and thanks to the guys who were driving us around on the various types of transport on this complex. Loved this holiday, and would definitely return at some point in the future...
What a fantastic resort, cannot find fault with anything. The staff are amazing, food was amazing, rooms were spot on. Butler service and the app is really convenient. The grounds are maintained really well. The golf trollies taking you around the resort are good fun but essential to the heat . Infinity pool, swim up bar, swing bar all good with many main brands of spirits. We Will defiantly holiday in a Bahia Principe again.
We love the Grand Bahia chain. We were at the Coba end of the resort three times then the last two times last of which was in April 2018 to the luxury Bahia Principe Akumal section. We will never stay at any section we were treated like royalty. They don’t forget their return guests they go above and beyond for us.Everything was perfect from our room, butler service, maid service, all the restaurants, bars, lovely grounds, all the shuttle drivers and pools. We can’t say a bad word about this place we love it so much we plan on coming back in September I wish we would have wrote down some names of workers that really stood out to us but really everyone does a fantastic job.We are looking forward to our next visit.

This was my first time in Mexico and I feel my Mum couldn’t have picked a better hotel. The food, rooms, the setting, and activities were incredible. Although, I did not like the DOLPHIN POOL, DON’T SWIM WITH THEM. It was sIckening seeing around 10 of them swimming in a pool smaller than the guests. However, the service impressed me the most. The staff continuously go above and beyond to help every single guest in the hotel. From the waiters, animation team, concierge and reception. A special thank you to HECTOR ZAVALA, front desk assistant manager in Akumal who went above and beyond what was expected. He helped us through out our stay, from checking us in, sorting problems with the room, giving us special assistance and generally going above and beyond. I would recommend this hotel to people in the future purely based on how good the service was.
