How to Get There
Yes — we are fortunate to travel frequently. Here’s a somewhat different approach. We are currently staying at the Bahia Principe Akumal for a few weeks. If you have questions — we will be at this property until December 19 and would be more than happy to answer your questions.
What we noticed so far of possible interest:
* the grounds and Christmas decorations are simply beautiful.
* the service/staff sets this property above. Employees have a sense of pride.
* when you read that the property is large, that is an understatement. All four together and you are in the huge category.
* transportation within the complex is handled by motorized trams that run frequently from 7am-2am.
* snorkeling is good within the large protected barricaded areas.
* nightly entertainment is very enjoyable.
* the 24 hr snack bar is a nice touch.
* expect a beautiful blend of foreign languages.
* if you care to dine before 7 pm you will have a much easier time making reservations. Regardless, make them in advance.
* on December 10, sunset was 6pm
* beach and pool chairs are at a premium. The early bird.......
* brag about special staff who go above and beyond. We were highly impressed by Christian in the Mashua Restaurant.
Hope this is helpful and remember to enjoy.
We stayed at Akumal on December 2018 for 8 days.Service was great except maid services. Rooms were not cleaned properly and Room AC did not work well.Food - buffet was the same every day, this was very disappointing. Value - not great, i will never return. Tulum had better food and beaches, just seems crowded. Location was good except the beach was not good. We are PC members and used the PC beach which was all rocks. Tulum non-PC beach was much better.Sleep quality - Bead was great but plows were bad.Rooms- seems ok but the washrooms were small and dated.
We were fortunate enough to travel with a Privilege Club member to this all-inclusive resort. The grounds were beautiful, well kept and very clean. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The pools were warm, clean and there was excellent pool side drink service, did not have to fight for beach chairs, either!. Beach was amazing, the staff worked very hard to clear the sea weed which made for a great swim experience. Rooms were clean and not cramped. We enjoyed the restaurants but the buffets were amazing. Can't wait to plan our return trip!
Only one hour drive from the Cancun airport, you will to the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Complex. We choose to stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal. Even though this resort caters to friends and family, we opted to stay in the adult ocean front selection of the property.
Spacious suites, with full amenities, 24 hour room service, wifi , stocked mini fridge along with Butler and concierge service, waiter service at the pool and beach.
Unlimited a la carte dining offers an endless selection of dining options. But the buffet is my favourite.
Too many bars to count...what is your preference...it there.
Private adult only beach are but you also have address to almost 1.5 Know of beach.
Entertainment...where to start...endless activities from 9 am to 5 pm around the pools and beach.
Groups activities such as Zumba, stretch, yoga, jogging or bike ride round the complex...I'm tried and need another cocktail...which will take you into the evening line up of various live performances...jazz, Latin, theater, and don't forget the danve club that opens at 11 pm until 2 am...you can always sleep on the beach under a palapa
Did I mention that when you stay at a Luxury Bahia Principe property you can exchange privileges with the other 3 resorts in the complex
Just wanted to share our thoughts my wife and i just spent our honeymoon at Akumal for 2 weeks Oct 21 to Nov 4th and we got an additional 4 rooms for our adult children for a week as well and we had on of the best trips of our lives. We were in building 83 adults only and used our PC membership and wow it was everything we were promised and was so worth the money we paid. We travel 4 to 5 weeks a year but honestly Akumal was awesome. The concierge Cynthia building 82 and 83 was awesone she made sure everything we wanted was meet. Wilbur i think thats his name the manager of the main showroom bar was awesome and funny and wow great service. He really is the reason we will return.
And of course the privilege club staff at the PC lounge and reception. Alex the bartender was kind and very good as well as the rest of the staff there - great job.
We will return !!!
