How to Get There
We had an awesome vacation at Akumal bay, it rained a couple of days from the tropical storm but the workers were amazing. They always kept you busy and having fun even when it wasn't nice weather. All of the employees there are great, especially the activities employees. We met one named Christopher, he became one of our best friends at the resort. He always managed to make every day fun even when the weather was bad. He helps with the yoga classes and has a spinning class. When we attended these classes he was very helpful and made it an enjoyable time. He was very funny and kept everything and everyone having fun even when the weather was bad. German is the paddle board instructor there and he is great! He makes it a fun time even when you fall off again and again. Samantha and minuet are great as well, they helped teach a lot of kids and adults how to salsa dance and even taught some Spanish classes. Vladimeer is the volleyball instructor and was awesome at helping even the little kids that were too small to even be playing. All of the staff at Akumal are awesome, I can't think of one time anyone was rude. Akumal Bay is the best resort we have been to.
My husband and I have been traveling since about 2005. Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort is the best resort by far. All staff work hard with one another to keep the resort and beach area clean and beautiful. I wish I could mention all staff in the number one position.
This was our second visit to Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. We loved it so much we decided to bring our family down to help celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We renewed our vows on the beach. It was so romantic. Thanks so much to Alex, and Aleli for making the day special. Conrado from the Photo Shop did an awesome job with the photographs.
We started off each morning in the Lobby Bar with Wilver. He “really” makes a great coffee with Bailey’s. The Mayan Coffee is pretty tasty too!! Then off to the buffet with Aurora who whips up the best omelet “with pleasure”.
Clemente and Dagoberto from the Beach Bar made sure everyone got their preferred drink. Since there are so many drink choices, sometimes we just didn’t know what we wanted next. Clemente and Dagoberto could come up with the perfect drinks.
Oscar from the Sushi Bar made some pretty tasty drinks. Guadalupe, Susana, Patricia, Marbella, Angela, Neili, Liliana and Noemi all were so very attentive that we rarely went thirsty. They even came to the beach and pools to bring our drinks.
Abel “the Orchestra Man” entertained us on the beach. He carries all his instruments with him. Don’t know how he does it.
The Activities staff work day and night. “Chocolate” Alex, “Vanilla” Alex, Samantha, and Karla kept the place hopping.
The evening bar manager, Alexander, sure knows his tequila! Right around the corner from the Lobby Bar is the Patio Bar where Fernando made us feel very welcome too!
There are many other staff members who work tirelessly to keep ABBWR the beautiful resort that it is – the housekeepers, the front desk staff, grounds keepers, public relations staff and last but not least the poor guys cleaning all the sea grass that washes ashore. You all are doing a fabulous job!!
Just returned from vacation and this is still one of our favorites. our only complaint is with the food. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time.(when the weather cooperated). We were at the resort to celebrate a family birthday and everyone went out of their way to make it special. Marbella brought a cake one day for lunch and Luis arranged for a special dinner at the Rodozio restaurant that really made our special day great. They went above and beyond and we really appreciate them. Good job!
We had an amazing vacation in Akumal Bay. Even though it rained the whole time, Raymond, the M.C., and Abel the Orchesta Man did an amazing job of keeping us entertained. The food was amazing, and our overall service and experience was great. We highly recommend Akumal Bay and plan to return again soon!
I absolutely loved this place (at least while the weather was good) and wanted to give it five stars. The pools are beautiful, the beach terrific, and the food decent. Friendly staff.
You can snorkle nearby and see huge sea turtles! There is an odd reluctance to give fresh towels however, in the room and at the pool. My daughter also overheard someone complaining at the front desk about a clogged shower drain and that person was getting the runaround "maybe after 3" but perhaps an isolated incident. I loved this place enough that I will come back, perhaps check a bag so I can bring my own beach towels.
