A mostly pleasant experience.

My wife and I stayed overnight on a Sunday night using our frequent flyers miles from American Airlines. The staff was excellent for our entire stay and were as helpful as could be.In spite of that there were some things that could have been handled bettrer. For instance I was given a room on the 18th floor and given my key card but was not told that the elevator would not work unless I scanned the key card in the elevator. I kept pushing buttons but got nowhere. Fortunately and emplyee walked by and seeing by situation she explained how to use the card..I was already in a poor mood when checking in becasue I could not find the entrance as shown in the picture above. My GPS stated that I was at 1 Exchange Street when I was stopped at the intersection where I could see the hotel across the street. What I did not know was that I was looking at the side of the place so when I tried to get in there was no entrance. I circled the place 3 times before I finally made it. The valet that took the car was great.The place seems to be in very good shape and our room was very pleasant but it was near the elevator motor room because we heard the motor every time it was used which appeared to be about every 30 seconds from 6 a.m. till about 2 a.m. Very disturbing. The place has a number of service charges. For instance if you use room service it costs $3.50 for delivery plus a 20% gratuity. The explanation I received about the wireless function was confusing as it sounded like it was either about $110.00 per day of free. I am not sure which since I did not use it. They have a car park/valet service at a reasonable $32.00 per day and your car is available anytime you want it. The fitness center is one of the best and most complete I have ever seen in a hotel and I really enjoyed using it. They do have a breakfast fuffet, which because of it's $28.00 per person cost, I went out to Panera Bread and got muffings for my wife and I. The hotel has a sky bridge leading from there to the Providence Place Mall so you do not have to drive there. As with all hotels, they do provide a book of hotel facts in each room but this book is mostly ad drink and food menu. It does not contain the name and phone numbers of any local taxi services, no church listings,etc. They do have a coffee station located in the fitness center but when I got there about 8 a.m. there was no coffe whatsoever.

Very unhappy with this hotel, as I booked reservations directly with them. I made reservations for a single king, at the time of reservations I was told 7 rooms available. I booked one. Upon check in I was told only a twin double room was available. The clerk offered no help at all for a solution other than, "here's two breakfast vouchers".... next time I'll flip the front desk over. OR better yet, stay somewhere else while still enjoying the local restaurants.

Really fallen apart

This was my favorite hotel in Providence for years and it has fallen apart. The front desk staff is rude, the renovated room we were in has the worst sound-proofing and the drunk girl next to us talked on speaker to her jealous boyfriend from 1am to 3am. It was like she was in the room. The water coming out of the sink smells like rotten eggs and vomit. We are priority members so we put our card out on the door handle before 2am to get complimentary beverages in the AM - they didn't show up. The carpet looks like it is from the 50's. No complimentary bottled water like most hotels. No mini bar. Horrible restaurant which I can't believe is still open. Price was way too high for this dump. Stay away.
