Nice, clean, & convenient

Pros:
-Location (walking distance to restaurants & shopping)
-Cheaper off-season pricing
-Last minute availability
-Pet friendly
-Kitchen in each unit, nicely decorated, gas fireplace
-Continental breakfast (very small but nice gesture)
-“Hidden Gem” feeling
-Friendly staff
-Large unit, perfect for our family of 4 and dog

Cons:
-Location (during our 1-night stay, we were up until 4 am because of a National Grid detail outside our bedroom window and then up again at 6 am because of the dumpsters being emptied). We were told this was a condo building which wasn’t able to sell/rent all units, so it turned hotel. Windows should be replaced with thicker panes glass, if this is the case to insulate noise.
-Pets (other people’s dogs yapped for a good amount by of time, but not the hotels fault. Just ignorant guests. Same with marijuana smell all times of day coming through vents. Again, not the fault of the hotel. Just a sign of the times. Annoying, though, when traveling with young kids.
-Early check in not available due to small size/cleaning schedule

Nice but..........

I found the hotel on the internet. It was nice from the pictures and I was surprised when I got there. Very nice rooms and the location is great. It was like a mini apartment with a full kitchen which my sons used. You can walk everywhere or grab a taxi. I've been to Newport several times and my niece was married at Castle Hill in the summer of 2013.

Billy, the assistant manager, was very nice and was very helpful when I was injured and fell on a missing cobblestone outside the hotel while walking out of the hotel's garage. He filled out an accident report and gave me 2 business cards; one for him and one for the manager.

Unfortunately I had to go to the hospital and by the time the taxi got me back to the hotel I couldn't move by right foot and had to use crutches to walk. Luckily my son was with me but I had a hard time getting from the taxi to the bottom of the stairs to get to my room on the second floor. There was no elevator. I had to sit on my posterior and pull myself up the stairs using my arms.

I was told that the manager (who will remain nameless) would come to see me the next day. He came up when when we reported that the hot water wasn't working. He didn't say anything about my injury even though he saw me lying in bed with a plastic cast on my foot.

My sister called and complained and the manager moved me to a first floor and said a strong woman would be on duty in the office that nice. I don't what he expected to happen but I was not going to cause problems. I have never caused problems for anyone at any hotel.

This hotel is not capable of having anyone disabled on their premises. Their is no elevator, no handles in the bathtub and no rubber mat in the tub. If you or a family member get hurt it's too small for them to move you to another room during the busy season. If you can't move, you will have to carry someone up a long flight of stairs or try to find a room in another hotel.

I think as a business owner that the hotel should have a better system in place for dealing with injured clients. The manager might also be wary of calling someone's children grandchildren and saying he could be my son. NOT. I'm not that old.

Wonderful find!

We couldn't have found a better place for our trip to Newport! I must start off by saying that we do a lot of traveling as a family and this trip we really wanted to bring our pup - we couldn't have found a better place then the Pelham Court Hotel! The staff is super friendly and the one bedroom unit we stayed in was beautiful. Very roomy for the 4 of us, our Great Dane/Mastiff mix included. The beds were super comfortable, the gas fireplace was an excellent touch (especially since it was a bit chilly in Newport the first week in April), and it was soooo clean (my husband even commented that he could not believe this was a pet friendly hotel since the room smelled so nice when we arrived.) Located just steps from everything -the main avenue, restaurants, shops, and a park - we couldn't have asked for more. Since it was rather off season I can't say what it would be like noise wise in the middle of summer but being so centrally located really makes this a great find. I can't wait to go back!
