Escape to Spain’s Costa Calida with a stay in the generous property of Mar Menor Golf Resort, at The Residences. This thoughtfully designed village spans over 16 million square feet and comes bursting with amenities and activities – not to mention a Nicklaus Design 18-hole golf course, which occupies 128 acres and holds a challenging par 72.
Within this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-winner’s extensive facilities, you’ll find yoga, Pilates and tai chi, alongside a reviving spa area. Go home with a new skill from taking part in one of the many lessons on offer, including languages, dancing and painting, or brush up on an old one with a clinic session in golf, scuba diving or paddle tennis.
Outdoor fun abounds here too, so when you’re not on the golf course, there are plenty of options to choose from. Go horseback riding, cycle your way around to discover more of the Costa Calida or hit the water on a sailing, rafting, windsurfing or scuba diving adventure. To get a true taste of the region, head to a local winery to sample a range of home-grown delights – a great place to pick up a beautiful souvenir, as well.
How to Get There
Fantastic time had at The Residences at Mar Menor. Myself and four colleagues stayed here first week in July on a three night bed and breakfast golf break. Stopped in one of the 3 bed apartments and couldn't fault it. Spacious, spotlessley clean and had everything we needed. Air conditioning excellent. Was a little worried how far they were from reception, had read earlier that they were quite a distance, however, taxi driver waited for us to check in then took us to our residence. The walk back though is just a 5 mins stroll through the driving range. Shop is 20-25 mins walk. If staying any longer than 3 nights I would probably hire a car. Taxis are reasonable, e.g. €13 to Los Alcazares.
With each block having it's own pool, they were never busy, quiet and relaxing. Bars and restaurants are welcoming and inviting with friendly staff. Course was in great condition and the greens imaculate and not very busy. The staff in the pro shop were very helpful. Booked our clubs direct with them by email before we travelled and were very satisfied with the Nike's they gave us. €30 per round.Buggies we booked while there, for the house course and also for El Valle.
All in all a fantastic time had by 5 blokes who just wanted to play a couple of rounds of golf in the beautiful sunshine , relax and have a few beers at a great price. Faultless. Will be back next year.
We stayed at the Mar Menor Golf resort in the self-catering residences. Wise choice. Pool to ourselves; well-equipped air-conditioned apartment; quiet resort; tremendous golf; friendly resort. 16-year old daughter was very, very happy with our choice.
There was 13 of us staying for 7 nights in "The Residences" complex which all rooms were air conditioned with 2 bathrooms/showers sleeping 4 to a room (one sleeping 6 to a room). Each room was serviced twice over the seven days with new towels and bedding changed as well as cleaned right through. Each complex had there own swimming pool. A buffet style breakfast was included and was served between 7.30am and 11.00am with a full English (proper bacon and sausages) fruit of continental breakfast with was in my opinion brilliant. The golf course was in excellent condition, with this Company there are 7 courses you can play, all within a hours drive, all worthy of playing (La Finca being the best).
Lovely place to stay, good food, although the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. The course on the resort is very nice, but the local Jack Nicklaus designed courses are even better, stunning by UK standards.
Evening entertainment in the Irish pub is good, and the local restaurants very very good, but the attached Meat/ Steak place is just awful
We had 12 golfers away fro a 3 night stay which included breakfast. We had 3 apartments each with two twin rooms. The apartments had an ample kitchen and lounge area with balcony views overlooking the golf course.
The rooms were large enough and comfortable. Each apartment had two bathrooms - one main bathroom and an ensuite. Access to one of the pools located by the apartment.
Breakfast was a buffet style breakfast serving a full english breakfast along with a more continental selection. Great way to start the day.
There is a Spar shop on site - perfect for getting supplies in. There are also a number of restaurants which are all reasonably priced. The perfect place to stay for a group of golfers.
