The Staff and the place were extremely perfect. The food was so good the pergola restaurant is just amazing. They provide amazing services like the in-suite dining as well as providing a wide range of DVDs to watch inside your suite. The suite was very clean & cozy. I would highly recommend any couple to spend a relaxing vacation there.

I assume that the diving center is the best in Egypt with the professional experienced instructors)
God bless all!
Stayed at the OSH for 3 nights as part of a beach/dive holiday. The hotel is absolutely remarkable, a beautiful entrance, and wonderful casitas. The layout is amazing, one gets around with electic buggies. The dive center is right on the grounds and the house reef is (fortunately or unfortunately) one of the cleanest and best dive sites in the immediate area. Food is great (especially Indian nights at the restaurant). The service is awesome.
The only minor negative, and its not directly related to the hotel, is that the hotel advertises horse/camel rides on the beach. What could sound more romantic? Well, the horse riding takes place on a beach adjacent to the hotel property and this beach is completely littered with plastic and junk. Not the best vibe ever. We commented to the hotel about this and they told us hotel guests did not like to have the horse riders on the hotel beach. In any event, would recommend a beach clean up prior to taking tourists out there.
Would, without hesitation, stay here again.
Third timers here! We had been to Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh twice thus far, with the first time being in 7/2005 for our honeymoon. We have been wowed every time, and this time, they did not disappoint.
We had made the trip from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Egypt. We visited Cairo, Alexandria and the Mediterranean Coast at El Alamein and finally Sahl Hasheesh.
We had booked the round trip limo ride from the airport. Our chauffeurs on both trips were very courteous and knowledgable. A bit pricey but worth it (about 15-18 USD each way). This is provided by the hotel and could be arranged through email contact one your booking is done. They will be waiting just outside of the small terminal, unlike travel agents waiting for other travelers inside the terminal.
We arrived at the hotel, and greeted with a delightful glass of hibiscus and herb juice, while our check in process is completed. I do have to point out going forward, that this hotel has a "group tipping" policy, where you would provide tips the end of your stay enclosed in an envelope for all employees, and although a lot of employees go out of their way to ensure you have an amazing stay, the thought that everybody is doing this for the sake of getting tips is unnerving (which is fairly common in other hotels/resorts). It is definitely not anticipated that you would tip individual employees. Employee recognition however is appreciated in feedback notes at the end of your stay. I have to admit, however, that I did personally tip a few employees on occasion for outstanding service.
We arrived around noon, and although typical check in time is 3 pm, we got our suite ready on arrival. Amazing. We had booked the Grand Suite with a private pool. With an unobstructed view of the sea. The suite was outstanding as usual, with a complementary fruit basket, and snack/minibar as well as coffee machine. Bottled spring water is distributed daily to all suites. Only problem was that our pool was partly exposed to another unit behind it and on higher ground. We were offered another suite and moved promptly, after confirming it was to our liking.
Very quiet hotel for the most part. We did have neighbors show up on our last day (we stayed for 3 days), and they had some outdoor speakers on in their in-suite pool area. Management took care of that in a heart beat.
The resort is composed of single units spread out north of the main hotel building. I would recommend the 100s suites as they are the closest to the main building, and somewhat close to the beach. Other suites (300s) farther away are a longer walk, and you might call for a golf cart /buggy to help get to the places back and forth, especially when the sun is up. Can get pretty hot in the summer.
On day 1, we chilled, by the pool, and on the beach. There is a lot of privacy on the beach, with cabanas spread across the shoreline. Would bring water shoes as there are some corals nearby that can be razor sharp. They do have complementary ones for patrons to use. We did some snorkeling at the private pier, and the corals were amazing, along with sea life. We have never done any diving before, and would plan on attempting this maybe next time. We did stop by the diving center (this is one of 5 centers in Hurghada), and Khamis the diving director show cased the various courses offered. We ended up passing on this given that my wife had allergies and aggravated sinusitis. We did run into another family from Boston that booked a dive (was not their first rodeo) though.
The main pool was also nice. We did not use it though, but had tea at the Pergola nearby. Lots of friendly sea gulls.
The food service did not disappoint, as per the Oberoi tradition. We sampled all sorts of Indian dishes as well as the usual Egyptian fare. The Indian restaurant has a Nubian musician playing tunes on his Oud from classic egyptian/folklore songs. He was actually there when we visited in 2005! They have some sampler options for the adventurers, or ordering a la carte dishes. Good portions. The other restaurant is open air, and is international fare.
They can also prepare specialty Egyptian foods with advance notice like Mandy. Entertainment was nice with a musician playing the Xylophone. Regardless of where you choose to dine, you can order from either restaurant menus. Or dine in-suite. Or better yet have a romantic dinner on the pier. Pricing is very reasonable if you do the math and convert to USD or Euro, but is pricier that some bigger and louder hotels/water parks in Hurghada.
The housekeeping team did wow us by not only setting an elaborate swan design on the bed using towels and roses, but also a very meticulous arrangement of our toiletries in the bathroom (I couldn’t have done a better job). They also left me wipes for my laptop.
The shampoo and body care were nice (Portofino brand) They used to have L'Occitane in our prior visits (loved it), but made the switch sometime last year I think.
Our Spa experience was superb. Definitely superior to a lot of spas in the US. I had the best cranial Massage and a very meticulous deep tissue massage. Very courteous and understanding to our trouble spots. In my case they focused on my upper back and kneaded every knot. People don’t know what they re missing by skipping the Spa. We had a couples massage, and our masseuses were both balinese. I did make the reservation early on by email on to ensure availability.
We also visited the Bazaar, bought some gifts for friends and family back in the US. Wide selection of essences, garb, hand woven /bedouin products, Sahara salt blocks, pottery, and some ethnic jewelry, and damascene wood boxes.
Now I have to mention that I had been communicating with Amit, the new General Manager (just took over a couple of weeks prior) by email before our arrival. He not only treated us to dinner on our last day, as it was our anniversary, but made sure to meet up with us before we left for the airport. We compared notes on Indian cuisine and Oberoi locations in India, which is on our bucket list.
Will come back next year for sure.
