How to Get There
Great weekend relaxation. Music by the pool area should be geared to fun party music and chill music. It was loud and annoying all day. Dining was typical for a resort serving the masses. Sort of like food served on a cruise ship. Dance club was lame
My group of 4 gals were there over Halloween. It was our 14th Annual Girl's Trip ! We are in our late 50's. We had a very nice stay at this resort and we loved the extra touches for Halloween that were there ! A nice party and some scary folks came to the resort poolside, during the day. I am a Travel Agency owner and have been to this resort for 3 visits before. I have been to every Secrets there is at least once. I believe that the food in the restaurants has gone downhill. Not enough food choices on any of the menu's for the sit down dinners. We also had a big snarfu that could have ended very badly, if I were not an agent and knew exactly what to do. I want everyone reading this review to take note. At check in at the Pref lounge, the wrong passport was handed to the wrong gal and she just put it in the safe and did not look at it. The correct immigration form was in the wrong passport. This gal left 2 days before the other 3 of us. She went to the airport with the wrong passport and looked at it at the ticket counter at the Frontier airlines check in counter. Let's just say that Apple Vacations took over from there. They expedited the correct passport to her on the fly with my help. She made her flight and the incorrect passport was brought back the resort Pref lounge the next day, by Amstar. Lesson learned: LOOK at the passport being handed back to you at check in. Use a reliable Travel Agent and a reliable tour company to book with, this one being Apple Vacations. We have your back. I believe had this booking been done online with an online agency there would have been a very unhappy gal at the airport that day with a missed flight.
The stay was very nice, we had fabulous service by the pool by the bestttt, drink server at the resort, Johanna ! We loved our entertainment guy, Israel. He was friendly, engaging and truly loves his job, that was evident. Jhandi at the Piano bar kept our drinks filled and he also guided us next door to the Brazillian Restaurant on his dinner break ! He walked us all of the way to the restaurant next door.
The resort is a fun resort, with great rooms and very good service.
( I did not like the music being so LOUD all day.. it was nice music just needed to be a bit lower in volume).
This was a very nice all-inclusive. We upgraded our room to the Ocean View, Ocean side and it was worth it to watch the sunrise every morning from the 5th floor.
STAFF: Roger (pool concierge) and Berenice (entertainment) were awesome! They have very good people skills and know how to work with the various vacationers!
FOOD: Breakfast and lunch are delicious and you have options. Because we upgraded, we did have the option of table service (not buffet style) breakfast. We did both and they each have different benefits. Dinner was not exceptional and that was for each restaurant. We tried a variety of food and just didn't have a wow factor. Our dinner the last night at the Mexican restaurant was very good.
POOL: nice pool - water temp is perfect. Get up early if you want a chair - ppl start saving them at 6:30 am. I have seen this at many resorts. Nadia helped us with securing a raft (hard to come by).
ENTERTAINMENT: Pool workouts were fun and were well attended! Outside evening events were better!
GYM: Small gym but has everything and it's a quick walk
UPGRADE: The room upgrade was definitely worth it. Although they offer "premium" alcohol in a preferred lounge, don't upgrade for that reason. We could order almost the same drinks with the same brand alcohol at any of the bars. There was only one restaurant for one meal that was for preferred guests. Although they provide you a VIP booklet with discounts on various SPA, WINE etc - they are so expensive we didn't utilize them.
