How to Get There
Just returned from a 10 day vacation at the occidental resort and all I can say is this is one of the best resorts we have stayed. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was delicious, never saw any staff member without a smile and a greeting for you. Just want to send out a big shout out to Raul, Leo, and Jesus they made things at the pool very entertaining. Also thanks to Javier tending the poolside bar he’s very good at his job.We will definitely be back to this resort
From the friendliness of the staff to the comfort of the beds, this was one of the best experiences of my life. The food was really interesting and good and the staff was amazing. It started with the Superbowl party on the beach; complete with cheerleaders and pom poms. The guys in charge of the water games were ever so much fun! My husband and our guy friends were completely engrossed in the water polo and beach volleyball. My girlfriends and I ended up spending time with a lovely lady by the beach named Appleonia painting ceramics, which came home as souvenirs. It was a short hop into San Miguel for a little shopping. The cleaning staff was first class. We came home suntanned and sated. My first all inclusive experience, my first trip to Mexico made me want to go back again and again! Thank you
We stayed in Occidental last week of January
Resort located far away from the sea-port and big cruise ships. That was one of the main reason why it was chosen. Yes, in a morning you will see a big traffic of a small boats delivering guests to the coral reef, diving or deep sea fishing, but they are not bothering people snorkeling at the beach. Majority of people choosing this resort to explore diving experience. You will not find a coral reef at the resort, but some small growing are present here and there. You will be able to find many different kinds of fish, majority of them really friendly and will take a food from your hands, if you want to do that. We were able to see small stingrays and barracudas on a daily basis.
Hotel is a midle size, with nineteen or so buildings, but each of them kind of secluded by the big and tall palm trees, you barely can see the other buildings from your room.
Beach could be busy, better secure the spot by leaving a beach towel on a bed early morning.
You can book a Jeep tour, rent a vehicle or scouter and drove around the island, it is safe and surrounding areas are beautiful. If you like to enjoy underwater world, book a snorkeling or diving tour.
Best Hotel that I have found in Cozumel by Far. I was there the weekend after New year and the night life at the resort was not all that jumping, but it didn't need to be this is a place that you want to go and relax and rest.
I was practicing my Spanish while there, and everyone helped me with it. :) I look forward to my next visit there in 2020.
Wonderful staff and clean rooms with good food! The layout out resort was nice and the beds were fabulous! Time share staff at occidental are very aggressive! Watch out for the guys wearing Tan. No free WiFi not even in the lobby area. You have to pay for wifi
