How to Get There
We stayed here at the end of November 2018. It was relaxing, exactly what we needed. We have a young child. She loved the activities with the Kid's Club. Jesús the animator goes around on the beach looking for children to participate in soccer, sandcastle-making, cupcake decorating and other activities. We were nearby, but she got to know Jesús and met more and more other children every day. It was great! We don't usually participate in as many organized activities by the pool, but Raúl and Darwin of the animation team are so fun and so good at their job that they made us want to participate! They and Jesús got to know us, our child, what we liked to do and they even spoke some French to us because we come from Quebec. What wonderful people! Food was good, particularly the Mexican restaurant. I have celiac disease and I cannot eat gluten. The à la carte menus are clearly labelled with gluten-free items. In the buffet restaurant, I had access to gluten-free bread and pancakes, and the chef could always make me something on a clean grill uncontaminated with other foods, without a sauce that contained gluten, etc. It took a bit longer to get my food than it did for my family, but I appreciated the effort. Try the omelet station in the mornings, delicious! Snorkelling is fantastic even without a special excursion. Just right off the beach is amazing! Our only complaint was that with Air Canada Vacations, we only had one hour of free wifi for the whole week. Not per day, for the whole week. We decided to embrace this fact and disconnect from the world for a while, but not everyone can do this. Check with your travel agent or the hotel before leaving so that you know what the wifi situation is, depending on your vacation package. Lovely week, so relaxing, good food and drinks and very nice people. What more could we ask for?
The Hotel staff were very very friendly and helpful in every way. The rooms were very clean , with comfortable beds. The overal cleanliness of the property was unbelievable. Gardens were groomed and well cared for in every way. Food presentation and variety Was great.
Just got back from a two week stay at this amazing resort. This resort is on the smaller side and a lot less busy than others we have visited in this area. It was a nice change of pace for us. It's located in one of the best dive and snorkeling sites in the world and has a pro-dive shop with excursions that leave right from the dock on the property. We enjoyed the beach which basically extends on the entire east side of the Island. For entertainment on the beach you can sign out a catamaran, snorkeling set, and or kayak for 1 hour each. We went sailing and swimming a lot. When you come to this side of the Caribbean you come for the water and this resort is situated perfectly. There is a bit a walk down a boardwalk to get to the beach pool and beach but for us it was no problem. The beach restaurant offered amazing views and a good selection of food. The only downside was the choice and volume of 'music' the resort played incessantly which detracted from our enjoyment of the natural setting. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. We slept well every night. The nightclub was fun with good music and a bar. There's one pool table. It could use a few dart boards to round out the entertainment.Food at the buffet was good and the service was excellent and friendly. This resort would be a perfect paradise if it wasn't for the smokers. It just took two smokers to stink up the whole beach one day because they were chain smoking on the upwind side of the beach. Nobody else was smoking and yet their smoke stunk up the whole beach for the dozens of other people who didn't smoke. Not allowed to have straws anymore because of the environment and yet you can have smoke and cigarette butts littering up the beach? Was enjoying a relaxing time at the adult pool until an elderly lady decided to start smoking cigars. Ruined it for the 14 other people there who didn't smoke. In order to access the amenities of the lobby bar, lounge, first club, buffet you had to walk through clouds of cigar and cigarette smoke, some of which wafted into the venue you were trying to enjoy. When will Mexico get this right and start recognizing the dangerous side effects of second hand smoke? It's like going back 30 years in time. It's unfair that less than 5% of the guests can ruin the experience of the other 95%.We enjoyed the resort so much that we considered purchasing a time share here up until the point where the smokers made our stay a lot less enjoyable.
We just returned from a one week vacation at the Occidental Cozumel in Mexico. This was our second stay at this hotel having travelled in 2010 and we can honestly say that there has been much improvement over time. We offer our sincere and grateful thanks to Gabriela Gaeta The guest experience manager for the Occidental Cozumel who went above and beyond to make our holiday the best that it could possibly be and for that we are eternally grateful and will definitely pass on our happy experiences to our friends and family. The grounds were extremely tropical and lush. The rooms were clean. There were plenty of chairs on the beach and building by the pool. The food had a wide variety of choices. Overall I would definitely recommend this vacation property. The staff were always professional and courteous.
We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to go back. The beach is so beautiful and clean. Sargassum is a huge problem for mainland Quintana Roo, but doesn’t impact the hotel beaches in Cozumel as they are on the protected side of the island. The water is crystal clear and we saw many colorful fish and small rays swimming in knee deep water. The staff was very friendly and helpful: especially Raúl and Efren who were in charge of the pool activities each day and befriended our 5 boys. We have a large family, so it can be hard to find space in crowded resorts, but we didn’t have an issue here. Our rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet. We didn’t have to wait for a table at the restaurants or buffet, and while the food isn’t amazing (never is at an all-inclusive), there was something for everyone.
