How to Get There
We went there for the famous pool and view but it was not worth it. The hotel is very old and outdated, the rooms are in a bad condition and even the hot tub was not working... the food was ok, and the staff was very kind and helpful. Other than that, nothing else :(
We just returned from a 7 night stay at Hotel B - our fifth stay on the island since our honeymoon trip in 1995. We've seen many changes on Cozumel in that time, not all of them good, but what hasn't changed is the warmth, friendliness and charm of the people here, and those qualities are reflected in the staff at Hotel B. The staff also seem proud of working here - we were impressed every day by their visible efforts to clean and maintain the property and to help their guests have a great experience. Other reviews have included comments that service in the restaurant and bar area can be a little slow, and we would not disagree, but it's a minor inconvenience compared to what you get by being patient.
In reading other reviews, I thought it might be helpful to provide a little information about the complimentary breakfast, because I was under the impression that it might be buffet-style like a lot of the hotels provide in the U.S. It's not that way at all. Guests order from a menu, but the complimentary breakfast is identified as the American Combo ( see photo of the menu). Other choices are available at additional cost.
There are other things we like about the hotel - the location is just a 30 minute stroll into town with nice views and good restaurants along the way, It is also close to the Puerto de Abrigo marina, and as others have said, the snorkeling is good right next to the property.
The construction next door continues, but we were not disturbed at all. If things go as planned, it will be a beautiful addition to the location next year. Our thanks to everyone at the hotel for their great service and for making our experience very special.
Just returned home from a 5 night stay at Hotel B Cozumel. First of all I will start with the pros. Great snorkeling, and that's one thing that drew me to this location. Personnel was very polite and hard working however some of the wait staff in the restaurant were very slow. I saw this a lot though all over the island. Guess that's their way. I do have to give a shout out to Elder he was very attentive all the time. He and one other younger fellow and Im sorry cant remember his name were always checking on us while at the pool, but none of the others really did that. I had to go to the bar and request a drink most of the time. They offer a free breakfast which was good, not great but you only have one section of the menu to choose from that was part of the included breakfast. One huge disappointment was the hot tub. My husband just had back surgery a few months back and although recovered he still gets stiff and we were looking forward to this awesome looking hot tub situated by the sea. Well the water was not warm turns our it wasn't even functioning. With the construction with the new addition it was not working, or at least that's what I assume. No one let you know that and no discount or anything was offered as a result. I read before our trip about the construction and it was stated by management that the noisy part was over. Well don't think that was accurate, jackhammers going while trying to relax poolside is anything but noise free. Another downside to this hotel is there is no elevator. Im not old and decrepit by any means but 4th floor was a little taxing throughout the day, but on the positive side the view was unbeatable. Housekeeping did a great job.
So would I come back here again? Probably not with all the choices there are on the island. Would I recommend people stay away certainly not, but think some of the things that can be addressed should be. Oh one last thing, if you are a techy and have a lot of things to be plugged in you will be disappointed as there are only 2 outlets in the whole room that includes the bathroom.
I have stayed here a couple of times - 2014 and then in 11-2018. This is a smaller quiet hotel, but I love the "family" feeling and the amenities (bar, restaurant, pool, spa, lagoon, ocean access and swim platform). However, the key ingredient is the staff - front desk, security (our room safe batteries died!), and the restaurant / bar folks. They make you feel valued and like you are a guest, not just a source of revenue and tips!
Loved being just down the road from the "busy" main metropolis area. You can swim and relax in the pool or just jump off the dock into the ocean - you're right on it! Rent snorkel equipment, you can see some beautiful things right there. Staff is welcoming and the front desk is so helpful and I felt comfortable asking for anything and everything and they helped me practiced my Spanish. Delicious drinks and foods. Great positive vibes. I came for a yoga retreat and felt the atmosphere of the hotel fit the vibe. I'd definitely return solo or again with the retreat =)
