How to Get There
Checking was easy, everyone was very friendly, one restaurant with a complete menu, the service in the restaurant is the reason I do not rate this as excellent. The wait staff talk too much with each other and do not pay enough attention to dinning room guest. When you do get them they are friendly. the resort is small but has everything thing and is easy to navigate. The beach area is small is not really a beach is a Sandy area, ocean front with a sea wall. For us it was perfect as we love snorkeling. The snorkeling was extraordinary. Keep in mind this is not party resort, but is well located. I do recommend.
Very nice and clean hotel, at the same time charge for the internet is ridiculous: $12 for the first computer and $10 for each additional unit, computer or smartphone. Few units, few days do the math.
Very nice property, great restaurant and bar, great snorkeling directly from the resort shore. The biggest disappointment was our room assignment. We were assigned a single room that was part of a larger 3 bedroom suite. So... we had to walk directly through another families suite to get to our room. This was very uncomfortable for us each time we left our room. We did log a complaint to the front desk, and to their credit, they did find us another room on the second night of our stay. But this room only had a Murphy bed in it, which was not very comfortable at all, and not what we had booked. We enjoyed the property as a whole but did not like our room(s). I feel like we were misled when booking.
The hotel and staff are great! There is a possibility to make a romantic dinner dinner on the pier, highly recommended! We enjoyed the hotel very much we will be happy to Go back againthank you very much!
I went for a dive vacation. The overall experience was very good; but not stellar primarily for reasons noted below.. The room was sparkling clean and extremely spacious. The staff was very helpful and pleasant at all times. The grounds were well kept; but not that spacious or exciting. The dive shop (Babieca) was right on site and will be reviewed separately. Although El Cid does have an all inclusive option, I did not take advantage of it and would suggest you do the same. The restaurant is clean and nicely located at the water's edge. The staff was very pleasant at all times. The major negatives about El Cid are:
1) the food at the restaurant was OK; but not at all special, or exceptional; and the choices were not extensive. It was bland and not exciting.
2) The gym was spartan and the "beach" was a tiny segment of waterfront.
3) Internet fee should not be a separate charge item. Furthermore, their charge is high and the charge PER DEVICE (ridiculous)
4) Finally, possible negative: The hotel is right next to the cruise ship dock which can be a positive or negative. It was fun seeing the ships come in and out; but they did block some of the view. The port arrival center has a number of shops (souvenirs and quite a number of jewelry stores) and restaurants (such as Bubba Gump (excellent staff) and Margaritaville. It is immediately next door and an easy walk if any of it intrigues you.
