How to Get There
We love this place and have been coming almost every year since 2001. It is well furnished and clean with great service. We know many of the staff by name. Esther and Gaby have been especially helpful.
I was there with my girlfriend last summer and the moment I landed in Cozumel People were trying to sell us something , we finally made it to the hotel and they did not check us in immediately instead they hold us up to offer us free stuff working us to sell us their timeshare, We were tired from the trip and all we wanted was to rest, But we agreed to meet for the presentation, Their time share was more than double than ours and they offered us to take our timeshare as a trade for theirs bringing their price almost to half , but they never told us that if we owed some money in our contract with our timeshare we need it to paid it in full prior to complete the transfer ,And in addition almost $1000.00 for transaction fee , also they did not inform us that we only have 4 days to cancel it in case we change our mind, We put $3700.00 as A down payment and after two month we start to find out all this hidden charges and we started to contact the seller. at the beginning they since nice and wiling to help us but as we start to ask them to cancel our contract with them and refund our money for not being honest in the way they sold us their timeshare ,But they refuse to cancel the contract and then they start telling us all this rules of 4 days to cancel and that if we want to cancel we have to pay them 10 thousand dollar for something we have not use and no longer wish to buy. As of today we still receive their monthly bill and letter Asking to contact them as the account is delinquent And because of that we still have a bitter taste for what would have been our best time ever.
We stayed at the El Cid in Cozumel for one night before we left Cozumel and although the location was good, the rooms were seriously lacking.
Checkin process was easy and we were looking forward to our ocean view room with balcony. Unfortunately our “ocean view” room was lacking most of the ocean view due to being on the 2nd floor and blocked by palm trees and buildings. The biggest problem with the room is the only bed was the hard Murphy bed instead of a real bed. Bright side is we had a dining room table for 5 although useless. The rooms were noisy either by guests or staff talking loudly in the hallway.
Enjoyed the beach/ restaurant/ and view from the outside of the hotel. Watching the cruise ships come and go is enjoyable. Restaurant has 2/1 happy every evening from 4-6pm as well.
We love staying at this hotel. Stayed here 8 times. We were a tad disappointed in a few changes they have made. One is they charge for internet use. $12 a day or $50 for 7 days. Had a few issues but they resolved them in a timely manner.
Love the staff.
Great place to relax and snorkel and get some sun! More quite resort which as I age I prefer! I would stay again! I enjoyed people watching the folks coming on and off the cruise ships. Rooms were very spacious!
