How to Get There
We spent 4 nts at Zoetry. Very pleased with on-time pick up at the Marina at 10:15a So nice to sail in with a cold beer in hand. Ana was at the pier to meet us with champagne and fresh towel. The room was ready. Friendliness was all around us. We had fresh ceviche every day. The fresh fish of the day was red snapper and there was several different ways they could prepare it for you. I liked it best when grilled.
We had the 7 course dinner 3 times. Wine was okay and you could pay for an upgrade. Drinks were with top shelf and we always enjoyed the Grey Goose! Beach service was sometimes spotty, until Magna came on the beach the last 2 days and she really hustled. Dining room with Rosa Marie was always good. Eligo at the front desk helped us several times and allowed a late check out. French toast was delicious and so was the yogurt with fresh fruit. Pastries at breakfast was delicious; especially, the chocolate one.
We went with Ceviche Tours for the whale sharks and was not disappointed. Amazing experience! Captain Jesus and Fred did a great job. Highly recommend. Rented a golf cart for 24 hours and went at 5:30am for sunrise at Punta Sur....beautiful! Lots of fun exploring! $95 and rented from the front desk. Very quiet resort, but met a lot of nice people and made our own fun. Would absolutely return!
I just adore this place. The food is amazing, the service is impeccable. It's a quiet getaway where you can literally leave the world behind. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, this is not your place. Delicious drinks, sun, cold rooms, clean facilities, friendly faces, fresh food... Relaxation. That's what this place has to offer! This was our second stay, and the moment I arrived, I was already looking forward to the next time!
2.5 star at best.
Came here with a large group, including kids/children.
If you have kids, this is most most definitely NOT the place for you. My kids were between 4-9.
I realized after booking, tried to change, but was too late.
They will only allow 3 per room. So you have to pay for the extra person. I was totally fine with that. I spoke to reservations and they confirmed with me i would pay the extra charge at the hotel. Totally fine with that too. Bc I’m a lawyer and need proof, I recorded the call and I got it in writing. When I got to the hotel, they still insisted on charging me 5 times the price. Despite me having the call recorded and despite me having it in writing. So now I have to deal with disputing the charge via my Amex.
The attendant (Alexander) I felt was condescending.
So the staff is nice. Some of them nicer than others.
However when they say “it’s my pleasure,” they say it with such a lack of authenticity, it’s obvious.
Clearly they are required to say it.
They should change it around a bit, like, “sure” or “not a problem,” or a simple “your welcome.”
They say “it’s a pleasure” and it sounds like they are biting their teeth when they say it, in a real monotone.
Melena and Bernice were very hospitable.
The rest of the staff seemed frustrated and annoyed that they had to deal with yet another guest.
The views of the ocean are breathtaking. But that has nothing to do with the hotel. They didn’t build the view. Tho they pride themselves in it.
Poolside service was a hassle. Always had to walk and look for someone to take a food or drink order.
Bc we were a bigger group, we were in the pool away from other guests. But hard to get service.
One guy, named Jesus, was awesome at the pool.
If it wasn’t for him, it would have been even more worse.
I got to the point where, once I met an employee, I handed them $10, and told them I will give you more, if you take care of us. Silly to have to do that.
What do you look for in a “boutique secluded expensive” hotel? It might be different for others, but considering we take a resort vacation every year for 7 years, we have stayed at some great, great places.
If you are madly in love or really old, and want to be left alone, (quite literally), then this is a good place. I think because most of the guests come here for quiet alone time, and don’t require much in terms of service, then the staff becomes complacent when they actually have to attend to a guest.
The boat ride from Cancun to the hotel was great. The crew was awesome.
The boat ride from the hotel back to Cancun was one of the worst ever.
Everyone, not just my family, other guests were shocked at the temperament and the irritated attitude of the crew.
Elote (I think that’s the correct spelling) and Luis were atrocious. Need to be reprimanded. Once we docked, they literally just ran to get the other guests while we all took our bags. I was helping other guest, instead of them.
The yoga class was a joke.
The yoga instructor was a witch. I’d use another word, but then I’m sure my review will be flagged. We excitedly went to the class...me being the encouraging one with the family and kids. The yoga instructor, was so super super annoyed that we were there, she couldn’t contain herself. I don’t give 2 hoots about this stuff. But I do care to be respected. I told my kids to get towels Bc the yoga instructor gave the mats to adults that came AFTER us (even tho I was with adults too). And she point blank, 100%, without a doubt ignored the 7 of us that were so so happy to be there. She spoke in a low tone (as yoga instructors do), but purposefully NEVER even bothered to walk towards us. She blatantly ignored us. I’m emphasizing this Bc I hope to God she is reading this. I hope she doesn’t have kids, Bc I feel sorry for the way she dealt with the kids that were with us. Thank God kids at immune to this nonsense.
The rooms are big. Def big.
If you feel you have to pay extra for Ocean Front, DON’T! Every room is ocean front. I mean EVERY room. So get the cheapest one and don’t buy into the whole “would you like to upgrade to an oceanfront room?”
The rooms, although big, need some serious renovation. The sinks don’t drain, so frustrating when shaving.
Our AC leaked 2 days in a row. Had to have crews in there fixing for 2 days. Thank God I had 4 rooms, so I could shower and get ready in another room.
The island, outside of this, is incredible.
In fact we are already booked for 2 weeks to return this same summer. But def NOT at this hotel.
For the price, not worth it. I have no issue with spending money, but I do hate throwing it away.
The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Bc there are only 2 restaurants you are heavily limited. And if you have a kid or children, they really really encourage you to NOT go to the French restaurant...ever.
We did however still eat there, Bc the one other restaurant that has the SAME menu every day (lunch and dinner....yes same) was under renovations.
Overall, if want to bow about $650/night for seclusion, maybe this is the place for you.
But parents with kids/children, if you have normal fun loving kids, don’t say I didn’t want you.
My husband and I visited this resort for our honeymoon. The resort is lovely and on a private island. We are between the age of 36-40 so if you’re looking for excitement, this is NOT the resort for you. The resort only has 2 restaurants, 3 pools and a small beach. We felt as if we were on a resort for retirees, but we were absolutely relaxed. The staff is AMAZING! Jesus ( with the glasses) because there is more than one and Rodi were FANTASTIC! The rooms were not what we expected, but comfortable. We were told by the staff that the resort is under reservation so we had to except the room as is... non working shower heads, cold water, features on jacuzzi not working 🤷🏽♀️ Overall we made the best of our time... oh yeah the food is AMAZING!! I have never visited a resort where ALL the food is incredible!!!
My husband and I spent a glorious week at Zoetry Villa Rolandi and though we don't like to travel any place twice, this will be the exception. I have been looking for a perfect "nearby" resort that offers peace and quiet without the noisy club scene or frenetic pool side drinking games. When I go on a vacation for the purpose of relaxing and doing nothing more mentally taxing than reading a good book, I want the sound of the ocean as my soundtrack. Villa Rolandi was perfect! 35 rooms, with a small but beautiful beach, 2 restaurants, 2 pools and a hot tub. No club music. Anywhere. :)
Because of its size, there were always chairs and umbrellas available at the beach or poolside, and the waitstaff was never more than a minute or two from walking by if you needed a refill. No need to ask for water, they bring you a bucket of ice and bottled water as soon as you settle into your chair. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive! We had a pool side room and when we were sitting at our patio, they would even come by our patio to bring us drinks or food.
The food was amazing, a little too amazing per my waistline, but I liked the casual restaurant a little bit better than the fancy one. Ceviche is a must have!
I didn't partake in the yoga or the fitness center like I had planned, but I did spend a lot of time swimming and kayaking in the calm ocean. The ocean was warm, and gorgeous! One of the most spectacular views I have seen in years.
Bernice gave us some great ideas of where to go around the island, so when you see her or Malena, let them give you a map and some tips; you won't regret heading to Punta Sur!
I can go on and on, but really you get the idea. The resort was fabulous...small, quiet, peaceful, relaxing, wonderful! (Definitey not good for families due to size and lack of activities.) Perfect for people looking to unwind and unplug.
