- The Hiroshi sushi restaurant will open in late March
- Three of the five restaurants require reservations, and the fine-dining options expect proper attire

How to Get There
We just returned from Villa Del Palmar (2/14-2/18) and I must say I was impressed. The food quality is phenomenal and there was always something good to eat. The waiters are very attentive and will correct any flaws in the food promptly. We had the one-bedroom suite with Butler service which is a freaking joke. Room was beautiful and the turndown service was excellent. They would do various things and leave your TV on with subtle music playing. A great ambiance to walk into. I don’t know if our room package just included the Butler or we somehow paid extra for him (person not service because there was hardly any). He did absolutely nothing for us of any benefit. I was expecting a Butler tending to your needs and etc. but NOPE, not the case. All he really did for us was stock our minibar to our preference. I asked him a question about transportation and was told to go to the front and ask. Asked about tickets on the ferry, told to go to the adjacent ferry terminal. I hope we didn’t pay extra for this non-service.
David Gonzalez, the MOD on our arrival is superb. There were some errors on the hotels behalf pertaining to our room and he physically took us to two different rooms so my wife could pick between the two. Every time he saw us on the property, he greeted us and asked if everything was ok. Awesome service by David. At the beach cabanas, which you have to get early, Benjamin does a fantastic job serving drinks and food. My hat goes off to both David and Benjamin.
Food was really good compared to other all-inclusive resorts we have visited around Mexico. Davino’s was excellent, especially their lamb and appetizers. The Japanese restaurant was also very good however ridiculously slow. There was a 1.5 hour wait which wasn’t bad as we had drinks right outside the lobby on comfy patio furniture. However, it took us two plus hours to get our food and get out of there, (we were a party of 7). The steak house was a joke. Overcooked and tough steaks. I hated the fact that the dinner buffet restaurant was closed during our stay. Apparently it is only open for dinner on Wednesdays. It would have been a nice option to just explore food. The breakfast buffet was good but repetitive. Same options every single morning. Very good the first day and then blah from there on. We ended up waiting until Bite Bar opened at 11:00 rather than go to breakfast. At Bite Bar, get a side order of onion rings. They are awesome. Bars close when the restaurant closes, usually 11. The only bar open is the lobby when till 1 I think.
We didn’t mind signing a check each time even though we were all inclusive as this gives you an idea of how much your ‘savings’ through the all inclusive package. However, they do take their sweet time at the bars to get your check. This really kills the mood as you are waiting to order and then waiting on the check. I’m more used to eating or getting a drink and walking away. I wish they would’ve given me a summary of all my signed checks at check-out for curiosity purposes.
The construction sounds are not bad at all. They did not wake me up. The water is the showers smells like sewer water and really impacted the calming sensation of taking a shower. My sisters shower water also smelled.
If you want to party, this is not the place. It is a nice quiet resort were the majority of the noise is kids and drunks here and there at night. Other than that, very quiet and very good. We are already planning out next vacation to Villas Del Palmar and hope David is the MOD at our next arrival.
We loved our stay! The facilities are impeccable and the staff is so friendly and helpful.
We are especially grateful to Otikio the pool butler for making every day by the pool amazing.
The Cuban band that played at the bar by the reception was so cool. We loved listening to those guys every evening. They are so talented and friendly.
Our 5 teens loved the place. We had a 3 room suite and even with the kids, the place was kept impeccable. In-room washer and dryer were extremely handy when someone needed something washed for dinner or what not. This happened frequently. Parents had their own room and bath which was perfect. We had all inclusive and everyone fully indulged - for example ordering all the desserts or ate full sushi dinner twice in an evening. Food was so good and the included drinks were near top shelf. Activities where typical but nice for the kids to do what and when they pleased. Everything was new and clean. Staff refused to serve alcohol to teens under 18 which I appreciate and of course they tried.
The beach had seaweed that smelled but they cleaned this up and groomed the beach each morning.
Staff were extremely attentive and did little things like overheard me say one of the kids turned 18 and threw a little party for them right then and there with cake and "fireworks" (whistle and menu slap that sounded remarkably real). One thing I did not appreciate is they were pushing a timeshare presentation hard. I had to be very stern and shut them down.
Wifi was expensive - or maybe it was just my kids use of it.
Location of the hotel is a pro and con. Far outside of town but not in the typical Cancun strip which I despise. But going off property is really not necessary.
Tip: Check your bill the day before you check out so there are no surprises - especially if you have teens
Took a quick Wed to Sun trip to Villa Del Palmar and highly recommend. Everything was great (atmosphere, polite staff, terrific food with lots of variety, great drinks, the list goes on and on). Here are a couple things for travelers:
1. Transport from airport to resort is about 40 minutes (careful walking through airport as you will get pulled in many directions for people wanting to give you a ride)
2. Though you may be apprehensive (as we were), talk to the concierge so you can get a map and times of restaurants otherwise you will waste time figuring out when different places are open.
3. Tons of seating at beach and pool...very nice with lots of options of different seats
4. Great drinks!
5. If you get a fresh coconut the man will come back to carve out meat, get the seasoning on it!
All in all you will not regret this place. It is not the crazy college party scene just a nice relaxing resort with amazing amenities.
Very well managed facility , very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, especially in kids club ( thank you for your help) , Otikio ( my 3 yo granddaughter was so happy to became your friend !). Food was delicious, we hope we come back !
