Best Family Resort owned by Royal Resorts

I have been coming to this Resort for about 36 years. I have NEVER had an unpleasant experience here that would cause me to go anywhere else while vacationing in January,February, & March in Mexico. Royal Resorts knows how to make all their guests feel like this is their second home.

Nice hotel with great views of the ocean

For clarification, we stayed at the Royal Caribbean hotel. Royal also owns two other resorts in the hotel zone of Cancun.

The hotel is older, but maintained well. Everything in the room was clean, but there were some things (doors, door knobs) that were a little beat up, but this did not detract from our stay here. We had a junior suite and it had a great view of the pools and direct ocean view as well. Cleaning crew was friendly and did a great job. The concierge team was exceptional with helping us plan our daily activities. Overall, the staff was very friendly, polite, spoke English when asked, and were very accommodating.

We did not purchase the all inclusive meals/drinks, which was fine for us as most of our meals were offsite anyway. We did eat all of our breakfasts in the hotel. Buffet was the best value and you could choose from a wide variety of foods that changed slightly from day to day. Omelette bar was good.

One minor issue we had was that the last night we were there, we had a train of ants coming out of the overflow in the sink, which was a little odd since we were on the 9th floor. There was nothing on the counter that they could have eaten so not sure what drawed them in. Nonetheless, a little darkness in that room and they all went away and we plugged the overflow with tissue paper, which did the trick. Not a bug deal for us, and I suspect it’s a common issue in other hotels too.

Overall, we got a GREAT rate for this hotel, and we were very happy with it. If you’re looking for new/fresh/modern or fancy, this is not the place for you, but you’ll end up paying a lot more than we did.

We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The picture attached was from the room we had.

I "own" (in week six, 2nd week of Feb) a pool view C villa, which overlooks pool, but has wonderful view of Caribbean, especially from the "master Suite" on the second floor! Have been coming for almost 20 years and the staff hardly changes and are soooo reliable and attentive!! Have made friends with Luiz, manager evenings in La Palapa, Jeremiah in Bell Services, Patricia, Gilberto and Angel, day wait staff; Alvaro, housekeeping. Each year, I am so impressed with new additions--always in the same mode of customer service extraordinaire!!! I was sooooo impressed this year with Carolina, Aqua aerobics (she's serious! great workout!) and salsa lessons and Vicente in Bell Services and Ivan, a busboy(?) in La Palapa!! Carolina always focussed and works very hard! Vicente realized I didn't understand Spanish when the Bell hops were talking with one another while I waited for my friends' airport shuttle and translated for me and brought me into the joking--so inclusive and thoughtful! Ivan responded to our every need at the Palaapa without fail and helped one of us especially, who has many special food needs--no judgment or hesitation at all!! I am always so proud to bring new friends and family!! Thanks so much!!
One "new" staff was pretty sexist. Felix taught salsa very well, choosing just the right steps to teach in just an hour and dancing very well himself! BUT, he "ordered"Carolina around without even a Por favor and did not respond to our complaint that he called the class either "men" or "women", not Lead and Follow. I attended with my friend, a woman, and we danced together, but Felix still had the "lead" between us dance with him and not Carolina, even after we pointed out the discrepancy. Felix needs his consciousness raised about same-sex needs.
