How to Get There
This was our second visit to this resort. We traveled with with 7 adults, 1 teenager, two kids and an infant. We had a great time. The rooms are nice with two bedrooms and a livingroom and kitchen. The food at La Palapa is great. We chose the all inclusive option which was a good deal for us. It was a bit of a hassle to have to give our room card for every time we wanted to eat or have a drink. We are more accustomed to having a wristband (which we did have here also) and just showing our wristband and giving our room number. The additional steps of giving our card and then having to wait at the end of the meal to get our card back added a lot of time to our meals.
The customer care and ambiance is the best! We enjoy the beautifully kept grounds, the service and friendliness of all staff, the comfort and VIP feeling. Overall we feel so happy and relaxed when we are at the Royal Cancun.
I was forced by a man at reception to come to the front desk when I was boarding a boat for a family tour because he would not let one of my guests checkout early on the 21st. I had 12 guests in 3 suites and my checkout was not until the 24th. He refused to let me sign later or verify my passport # over the phone. They would not give my guest her suitcase and she was going to miss her flight, so I had to get off the boat and missed the tour with my family. After I came into the lobby to made a scene with the man at reception, he let her go without even knowing my name! No ID check, no room number verification. I just had to yell at him and he gave her the pass for her luggage. I then talked to the manager she promised a formal report on his behavior. It didn't happen, she lied.
Good family resort with typically great Royal ammenities. The place is spotless, the service excellent (GM Rosa and server Angel stood out) and location is A+ on the beach. If any fisherman are looking for Fishing tips: the pier is available for catch and release fishing. It’s about 7-8 feet deep slowly dropping sand/grass mix. We caught a small baracuda and some smaller snapper. We saw cuda up to 4ft long swim by. Rattletraps and frozen shimp or cutbait will work at low light periods on light spinning tackle. The Negative:Unfortunately 5 of 8 in the group became rather violently ill (food poisening symptoms) during our stay. We ate almost every meal here so the source seems obvious. I hope RC will review food quality/handling issues soon.A/C in rooms is loud and may disturb light sleepers.Still a great place and hope the food trouble was a random issue.
ALL 4 resorts were wonderful. Calm beach at the Royal and rolling waves at the other 3. Same pool menu at all, same wifi, decorated lovely for Xmas season. One week was not enough. Will come back for 2 or 3 weeks if I can ASAP.
