Whether you came to Cancun to dance all night or do absolutely nothing, find a great escape at Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club. Here, food, drinks and non-motorized watersports – along with scuba-diving instruction – are all included, and a wide range of spaces gives you the choice of laying low or living it up. The getaway offers a pool, a theater, a spa and several restaurants, and if that’s not enough choice for both the restless and the lazy, you can visit Nichupté Lagoon or the sister property’s beach.
TripAdvisor has honored this stay with a Certificate of Excellence, but see for yourself why it’s gotten such positive reviews. Rent a yacht to cruise along the Riviera Maya, take out a wakeboard or a WaveRunner, or try a bartending class or handicraft workshop. Consider exploring greater Cancun, too, from the Mayan ruins to the local shops and restaurants. There’s tons to do in this popular vacation destination, and whether you prefer fiestas or siestas, you’ll have no trouble having Cancun your way.
The 177 Sunset Marina suites face either the lagoon or tropical gardens. The property prides itself on each accommodation’s cleanliness, intimacy and range of resort-style amenities, including a kitchenette and a terrace or balcony.
Buffet-style or à la carte? Mexican or Italian? Eats or drinks? You didn’t go on vacation to worry about hard decisions, so don’t make any. Your all-inclusive plan covers all meals and snacks, plus international buffets, and there a few different restaurant choices, like a trattoria and open-air dinner theater. The resort also boasts bars in the lobby and at the pool, and you get comped cocktails, daiquiris, non-alcoholic and premium liquors.
Ya’ax Che Spa, whose name translates to ceiba tree, strives to maintain and honor Mayan healing philosophies. Lime, lemongrass, aloe, jasmine, cacao, quartz and rainforest flowers are among the ingredients that therapies incorporate, while you may also enjoy soothing sounds during your massage or body treatment. Salon services are also available.
Known for its crystal-clear beaches, luxury resorts and party scene, Cancun is an exotic destination that caters to couples, families and anyone looking for a little adventure and a lot of relaxation. Soak up the sunny weather, discover the Mayan ruins, taste local cuisine (and tequila!), and swim the beautiful shores that this Mexican escape is known for (including the beach at Sunset Marina’s sister property). Cancun boasts a bold Latin culture and a laid-back lifestyle, and the resort itself complements both with tons of activities, from Spanish and dance lessons to kayak tours.
How to Get There
This hotel is truly one of the best, or the best hotel I have ever been to! Everything about this hotel is just outstanding! The pool, the rooms, the views, the food, and most importantly the staff! The staff is phenomenal! Everyone is always greeting you with a a smile, and since it is a smaller hotel you get more personalized attention. I want to especially thank Israel, Nuri, and Ivan for making this stay extra special! They were all members of the entertainment staff and you could tell that they really enjoy their job, because they do it with so much energy and excitement. I would also like to thank Juliette and Omar (front desk) who were very kind and Esther (towel kiosk) who was also very kind! Even though there is no beach at the hotel, there is easy access to beaches, and the food is fantastic! All in all, this hotel is just plain out great!

We had a wonderful time at the Sunset Marina! As I get older, I prefer the intimacy of a smaller resort. There was always pool lounges available, tables at the restaurant available, etc. We love the pool size, only complaint is that the ground can get very slippery and/or very hot; Cancun sun is no joke. We saw a couple of adults and children slip and fall, but the lifeguard, Saul, was always very helpful. Room was very, very nice! Very spacious and our housekeeper, Irma, always did a wonderful job of cleaning. The three restaurant options are great. The main restaurant is outdoor/indoor and can get very hot and humid, but the staff always makes sure you are comfortable. Francisco was awesome! Always took care of us during breakfast and lunch! Only had the pleasure of meeting Marcelo once and he was very nice. Henri and Manuel at La Vela were amazing! We always winded up going to La Vela for dinner because of their attention. Nuri and Israel were great with entertainment. Thank you to everyone at the Marina! See you next year!
Sales staff was terrible. No hot water for half of our one week stay. Sales staff would spy as if we were going for sales promotion to other property. Very embarrassing situations we were put in due to stupid questions asked by the sales staff. No even an iota of professionalism.
