All-inclusive Mediterranean-style resort on Cancun's beautiful lagoon

The Lowdown

Whether you came to Cancun to dance all night or do absolutely nothing, find a great escape at Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club. Here, food, drinks and non-motorized watersports – along with scuba-diving instruction – are all included, and a wide range of spaces gives you the choice of laying low or living it up. The getaway offers a pool, a theater, a spa and several restaurants, and if that’s not enough choice for both the restless and the lazy, you can visit Nichupté Lagoon or the sister property’s beach.
TripAdvisor has honored this stay with a Certificate of Excellence, but see for yourself why it’s gotten such positive reviews. Rent a yacht to cruise along the Riviera Maya, take out a wakeboard or a WaveRunner, or try a bartending class or handicraft workshop. Consider exploring greater Cancun, too, from the Mayan ruins to the local shops and restaurants. There’s tons to do in this popular vacation destination, and whether you prefer fiestas or siestas, you’ll have no trouble having Cancun your way.

The 177 Sunset Marina suites face either the lagoon or tropical gardens. The property prides itself on each accommodation’s cleanliness, intimacy and range of resort-style amenities, including a kitchenette and a terrace or balcony.

Buffet-style or à la carte? Mexican or Italian? Eats or drinks? You didn’t go on vacation to worry about hard decisions, so don’t make any. Your all-inclusive plan covers all meals and snacks, plus international buffets, and there a few different restaurant choices, like a trattoria and open-air dinner theater. The resort also boasts bars in the lobby and at the pool, and you get comped cocktails, daiquiris, non-alcoholic and premium liquors.

Ya’ax Che Spa, whose name translates to ceiba tree, strives to maintain and honor Mayan healing philosophies. Lime, lemongrass, aloe, jasmine, cacao, quartz and rainforest flowers are among the ingredients that therapies incorporate, while you may also enjoy soothing sounds during your massage or body treatment. Salon services are also available.

Known for its crystal-clear beaches, luxury resorts and party scene, Cancun is an exotic destination that caters to couples, families and anyone looking for a little adventure and a lot of relaxation. Soak up the sunny weather, discover the Mayan ruins, taste local cuisine (and tequila!), and swim the beautiful shores that this Mexican escape is known for (including the beach at Sunset Marina’s sister property). Cancun boasts a bold Latin culture and a laid-back lifestyle, and the resort itself complements both with tons of activities, from Spanish and dance lessons to kayak tours.

Clean and quiet

Quaint, clean and quiet. The entertainment was just okay and the food was average. Service staff was very pleasant. The fact you have availability to the other resorts in the chain was a plus. Time share presentations were a constant and all around.

Not Just Another Tequila Sunset

A great stay made even better by the attentive and courteous staff - Fabian, Alonzo M and Maria just to name a few. No beach or ocean as located on the lagoon - however the fabulous sunsets from our lagoon facing balcony more than made up for this. The Resort offers free shuttle bus and water taxi rides to the 3 Sister Resorts to use their facilities and beaches - this was a nice touch! The design of the Resort is based on Greek islands architecture which really gives the place a unique feel. Nice swim up wet bar and hot tub on the point. Ask for Ivan to take you out on the daily mini catamaran sail - lots of fun! Well done and memorable place!

Laid back and restful

The Sunset Marina is a laid back resort. Clean, quiet place with nice staff and good breakfast and evening entertainment.

As usual, the pool is not heated, but refreshing and well cared for by staff at all times.

We were disappointed that the staff could not bend out of their prepackaged tours. For example there is a golf course about one quarter mile away, but they could not organize the simplist things like tee times or transportation.

Another Awesome Stay

This was our 6th time here and I can say never disappointed. This time a little disappointed In buffet selections but as a member we were able to visit the other sister resorts for some variety. My favorite is Mexican night with Cilantro soup mmmmmm The servers are always going above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. Will definitely miss Rudy in the buffet are as worked he worked his last day as he retired when we were there. Fransisco full of energy every morning when he saw us approach he waived us in and knew exactly what we needed, coffee tea milk, cream and a green juice. Carlos, Sergio and the rest of the staff all very friendly and helpful. Pool bar staff Raul and Rafiel( sorry if I spelled names wrong) were also very attentive. Drink was there when they saw that we were on last sip. Both very friendly Rafiel being there for about 16 years and Raul I believe 3- years. Our housekeeper as well kept our room spotless, The entertainment staff as well did a great job to get everyone involved they put on an awesome super bowl party!! They have made some changes this year some for the good but miss all the beautiful statues they use to have. I will going here for many years to come. Thank you again for a wonderful vacation!!!
