Wonderful Service & Beautiful Beach!
Rachel F

My husband and I visit Mexico at least once a year, and for the past 5 we've been going to Playa del Carmen. We decided to go to Cancun as the beach is stunning (and huge). We chose Live Aqua b/c it looked like a lovely resort and it was adults only. Where Live Aqua truly shines is in their service. The staff makes you feel at home and do everything extremely well. I have to call out a few people b/c they were WONDERFUL!!!!

Fernando at breakfast provided quick service every time, and he also provided my morning 'Spanish lesson' =) I explained that I have been taking classes, and he was so patient with my fumbling through our conversations. Ignacio at MB is quite possibly the best waiter I've ever had - EVER. He literally always had a smile on his face ~ truly a bright light in the world. And his voice! OMG when you go, you must go to dinner later in the evening to be there at the end of the night. He will play the piano and sing opera and it is magical! Another super fun personality at Live Aqua is Pedro at the pool. Even though it is a demanding role, running from person to person to take drink orders all day - he always had a smile on his face and would take the time to talk to us about his family and life in general. Adriana poured our special coffee before dinner and also worked in the upstairs bar. She is literally the cutest/sweetest person! My husband and I always appreciate when people try to have fun and joke around with us, and she was awesome! Similar to Adriana, the hostess for MB was hilarious!!! I feel terrible b/c I don't recall her name, but she so deserves recognition! Lastly, we met the manager, Jorge - such a lovely person - warm and easy to talk to. In short, the staff at Live Aqua are rock stars, and they really help make the experience special.

Since we were there for Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos, there were tons of fun decorations as well as dressing up by the staff. They clearly spend time thinking of ways to make holidays special for their guests, and we loved it!! We also loved their beach b/c it is STUNNING!! The seaweed is very minimal right now, and they keep the beach super clean. The grounds are well maintained. The breakfast buffet is typical all-inclusive fare, and it's good. Eat at MB for dinner, and order the jalepeno soup - just do it - it is delicious!

Lastly, the reason we gave 4 stars is primarily due to a super laid back vibe at the pool every day. It could very well have been the time of year, but there was very little in terms of liveliness, which for some I'm sure is preferred. We like a little more of an upbeat vibe so this is very much based on preference.

Good resort but not the presentation part! Stay away from it!

The hotel itself is good but not the timeshare presentation part.

Good things:
The hotel is newly renovated and clean. Our room with the ocean view is fairly large for two of us. Great room services and the restaurants are great in this resort.

Bad things:
The nightmare comes which is the timeshare presentation. We got scammed by FAVC membership and we signed an agreement that can't even find out the contract number. We tried to contact the customer service and they can't find us in the system. Everything is a lie. Don't even participate in that presentation.

I can't believe the hotel wasted our half-day and just tried to scam us. Shame on you!

Second time better than the first!

We just got home from our second trip to Live Aqua, and we hope to continue this annual tradition indefinitely. On this visit, we found the staff as friendly and warm as ever, the food spectacular, the facilities sparkling and beautiful, and the weather wonderful. Highlights for us include: daily yoga with Erika, whose class we absolutely love, lunch at the Sea Corner, pool side entertainment, bananas foster at MB, the silent party, dinner at Hidden Garden, dessert at Varenna, and of course, multiple swims a day in that warm, clear, glowing ocean. We can't wait to return next year!!!
