Located right on the beach, the InterContinental is a great fit for travelers looking for something other than an all-inclusive resort. You’ll find vacation musts like on-the-sand cocktail service, water sports and 24/7 room service, as well as beachside dining at the restaurant, El Caribeño, and the region’s largest collection of tequilas at Tequila Bar Collection & Terrace. Unwind by one of the hotel’s two pools or get an outdoor massage under a palapa. In your room expect a fully stocked minibar and a flat-screen TV; Club Level rooms also include a complimentary breakfast and afternoon canapés and drinks, plus private terraces with ocean views.
In the Area
The hotel offers plenty of activities, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, snorkeling and sailing right off the beach, plus the free ChiquiClub for kids from four to nine. For those looking to explore beyond the property, the concierge recommends a stroll through Mercado 28, a flea market that sells works by local artists; swinging your clubs at one of the region’s 13 professional-level golf courses; and dinner along the Bojorquez Lagoon at the Belgian/French restaurant La Palapa Belga.
How to Get There
Great rooms, beach, service, etc. I decided to stay one night in Cancun after 2 weeks in Akumal. I stayed at this hotel where a friend was coincidentally staying. Well worth it! They had beautiful works of art in the lobby and there are MANY places to go walking. AVOID the TAXI MAFIA...if you can. These are unscrupulous criminals. Ask for prices before getting in one. Whatever they quote, even when they take out a laminated price paper, offer half. Also, ask the concierge to order you one...ALWAYS! Great hotel!!
I am returning to the Intercontinental El Presidente again in three weeks and I cannot wait..
I have been going to Cancun since the early 1980's and this is by far my favorite property..
It's not too big,it's not all inclusive, it's on the best beach in Cancun, it is very clean and well maintained and it even smells wonderful wherever you go in the Hotel.. It is a very classy and quiet place..
The Staff is amazing from Management and Front Desk Employees to Food service Staff and Pool and Beach Staff and Housekeeping and Bellmen.. They were all wonderful and professional..
I wish that I could recall all their names but Rafael at the Front Desk was amazing..a Gentleman and very helpful and accommodating so THANK YOU Rafael and look forward to seeing you again very soon..
Susanna was also very very nice and was always ready to help and offer advice.. Thank you..
Although it is not an all inclusive property I enjoy it so much I never left.. I ate at the Hotel everyday and the Restaurants were amazing with a great selection and variety..
I had breakfast in The Club Lounge every morning and a very nice afternoon Happy Hour spread..
Le Cap Beach Club was great for lunch by the pool or beach and a great dinner all with an amazing view..
The pools are beautiful and very clean..
The Beach Bar is great and you can even enjoy a cocktail sitting in a swing at the bar..
My room was Oceanfront on the 5th floor.. absolutely beautiful room, view and bathroom..
The Beach is my favorite in Cancun.. powder soft white sand and the ocean is like being in a giant saltwater swimming pool.. no waves just beautiful crystal clear warm Caribbean blue water..
I would recommend The Intercontinental El Presidente Hotel to seasoned travelers who do not want the hustle and bustle and noise and crowds of the big all inclusives.. it's quiet, upscale, clean and beautiful..
It's located is amazing in the original Hotel Zone of Cancun..Right in the heart of the Hotel Zone and accessible to so much of what Cancun has to offer..
This was our 2nd time staying here. We were here 6 years ago and loved it. I was happy to see things hadn’t changed really. A few little things like the tequila bar that was off main lobby is gone and it is now a private lounge and club you can use for an up charge we did not. Rooms are great and restaurants although some a little pricey food is good. We loved Cafe Urbana and there is a restaurant if you turn right on the beach next door that was also good. Modern atmosphere and great pools and one of the greatest beaches. Staff were all great!
I only got to spend one night here as we were on our way to Isla Mujeres the next day but our experience was great here from the check in process to check out. Good customer service all around. When we got to our room we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne as I had mentioned it was our anniversary. What a treat! After reading all the reviews I took the advice and booked a top floor (6th Floor) Club level King room and was not disappointed. The views of the ocean from our bed were breathtaking in the morning. The balcony nice and private. The room was big and the bathroom even bigger. I love the giant tub! I wasn't there long enough at hotel to really review much about its amenities. Pool looked nice. The bar restaurant on beach had the best fish tacos I've ever had. We took full advantage of the continental buffet breakfast the next day which is quite a spread with bacon, waffles, beans, tortillas. The evening drink/canapes hour in the Club Lounge was delicious as well which was happening right when we checked in. If I was coming through Cancun again, I'd definitely stay here.
Our family and daughter's family stayed at this hotel. Great hotel, good food and service was great. Close to beach and other entertainment area. Food was authentic and tasted great. Away from crowded area, easy to access outside dining and other shopping areas.
