Beachfront Bedroom Resort property Suite condominium living room home Villa cottage flat

Beachfront bliss with two restaurants, a pair of pools and a bar with the largest tequila selection in Cancún

The Lowdown

Located right on the beach, the InterContinental is a great fit for travelers looking for something other than an all-inclusive resort. You’ll find vacation musts like on-the-sand cocktail service, water sports and 24/7 room service, as well as beachside dining at the restaurant, El Caribeño, and the region’s largest collection of tequilas at Tequila Bar Collection & Terrace. Unwind by one of the hotel’s two pools or get an outdoor massage under a palapa. In your room expect a fully stocked minibar and a flat-screen TV; Club Level rooms also include a complimentary breakfast and afternoon canapés and drinks, plus private terraces with ocean views.

In the Area

The hotel offers plenty of activities, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, snorkeling and sailing right off the beach, plus the free ChiquiClub for kids from four to nine. For those looking to explore beyond the property, the concierge recommends a stroll through Mercado 28, a flea market that sells works by local artists; swinging your clubs at one of the region’s 13 professional-level golf courses; and dinner along the Bojorquez Lagoon at the Belgian/French restaurant La Palapa Belga.

If I could give ten starts, i would!!

Upon arrival, my husband and I were treated like royalty. We were ushered to a concierge whereupon we were provided with awesome service by Mr. Humberto Santos. He was very courteous and friendly and accommodating. He even offered us drinks and a room to change in while our room was being prepared for us! Every staff member was super friendly and very hospitable. The hotel itself was super clean and very quiet and relaxing. It felt very classy. The online pictures do not do it justice. We were pleasantly surprised. The beach was outstanding like other reviewers mentioned. We cannot wait to go back!

Couldn't ask for more!

We recently stayed at the Presidente for three weeks. We could not have asked for a better experience. The beach/sand/waters are the best in Cancun. The food is delicious! The entire hotel and grounds are so clean and beautifully taken care of. Rooms have all you need - quiet air conditioning, comfy beds, handy desk area looking out at the beach. The views are breathtaking, The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate every need/want! They are friendly and courteous, kind and efficient. They always are welcoming and attentive. Special shout out to Abdias, Martin (wait staff) and Sarah (room service) who were exceptional!! Also to Guest Services Manager Adolfo - thank you! You made our stay so memorable and we will definitely be back soon!

Staff is horrible!

Standing at the counter for 2.5 hours to check in is nuts. ( this was at 5:30 PM and check in time is 4:00 PM)I asked to speak to the Manager several times and was ignored. When we did get our room it was on the street with noise all night long. We were scheduled to stay for 21 days but left after three. We should have left ASAP. I would never go back to this place.

Go for the beach, food and drink

I was really apprehensive about this hotel when we booked the trip, as reviews are mixed. We arrived early in the day, but staff had our room ready. The room was a huge disappointment, third floor of the tower, quite small and it smelled badly of mold. Telling ourselves that we would not spend much time in the room, we decided to suck it up. Woke up feeling symptoms of allergies and we asked to switch rooms. Humberto was fantastic in this regard. He transferred us to a lovely 5th floor room in the other building and arranged for our belongings to be transferred. Throughout the trip Humberto never failed to call us by name or ask how we were enjoying our stay. The summary of our experience is that the staff, beach, food and beverage makes this trip worthwhile. Beach is huge, quiet and unrivaled. Food and drink are affordable and surprisingly delicious. Staff are well trained, professional and personable. Shout out to beach staff Jesus/Enrique and Alfredo who were amazing! The hotel itself does not meet Intercontinental standards, it is a Crowne Plaza level at best. Know all this going in, and you will have a great experience.

Excellent beach and rooms... food not so much

This hotel has one of the most important features that I appreciate in a hotel: location. Very close to the ICC and night life area, but without the crowds. The hotel has an excellent beach front, with nice palapas and beach furniture. The rooms are very comfortable and modern. The main reason I am not rating this as 5 stars is due to the food quality and reduced variety of options to eat.
