Beachfront Bedroom Resort property Suite condominium living room home Villa cottage flat

Beachfront bliss with two restaurants, a pair of pools and a bar with the largest tequila selection in Cancún

The Lowdown

Located right on the beach, the InterContinental is a great fit for travelers looking for something other than an all-inclusive resort. You’ll find vacation musts like on-the-sand cocktail service, water sports and 24/7 room service, as well as beachside dining at the restaurant, El Caribeño, and the region’s largest collection of tequilas at Tequila Bar Collection & Terrace. Unwind by one of the hotel’s two pools or get an outdoor massage under a palapa. In your room expect a fully stocked minibar and a flat-screen TV; Club Level rooms also include a complimentary breakfast and afternoon canapés and drinks, plus private terraces with ocean views.

In the Area

The hotel offers plenty of activities, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, snorkeling and sailing right off the beach, plus the free ChiquiClub for kids from four to nine. For those looking to explore beyond the property, the concierge recommends a stroll through Mercado 28, a flea market that sells works by local artists; swinging your clubs at one of the region’s 13 professional-level golf courses; and dinner along the Bojorquez Lagoon at the Belgian/French restaurant La Palapa Belga.

My mum and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was so lovely. The staff are all super helpful and friendly, the pool is luxurious as are the rooms and restaurant. We had OUTSTANDING service from Jose Uribe at the travel agent desk, who helped us book tours which covered everything we wanted in our short time in Cancun. If your wanting to do anything in this city, speak to him!

Sisters Birthday Getaway
Reviewed 1 week ago

Me and my sister stayed here for a few days and I must say the staff were friendly and attentive however service was a little slow. The place itself is very pretty but the rooms are mediocre.
There are a variety of food places on site and the beach is really pretty with good views of ocean and no sea weed. Overall it was a good stay but not the best stay for InterContinental brand. They did give a lovely slice of complimentary birthday cake and it was big enough to feed both of us which was a cute touch.

Great Stay!

My stay at the El Presidente was once again made wonderful by the incredible staff it employs. From the moment you arrive the door men and front desk immediately make you feel welcome. The rooms are beautiful and the staff will gladly bring you all of your requests fast. I can't say enough about the professionals at the Spa IKAL . I had 3 massages with Celmy. She is a lovely and very knowledgeable therapist who really delivers a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a calming oasis for adults only this is the spot. You can use the whirl pool and steam leaving completely relaxed. The restaurants and again the staff at the beach bar especially Bernardo and Marianno are fantastic and constantly looking to make your experience better. I love this hotel and it continues to find and keep an excellent staff that will make you want to return. Adios

Smells of mold, rooms need attention
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful location with gorgeous beach just outside hotel. Building exterior as unattractive as rooms inside. Slow check in even though there was no other customer waiting. Don't know what took the agent so long to check me in. I specifically asked for a room without a connecting door to another room - and that was exactly what I was given! I also asked for a nice view - I got one of the road outside the hotel on the second floor! Overall very quiet and restful. Hallways and room smelled of mold. Called to complain and they sent a staff person to spray the room, which did nothing to remove the mold. Several of my colleagues in the same convention complained about the same in their hotels. It seems they don't know how to deal with the high humidity of the city. Room was large but very unattractive. Decoration and furniture were sparse, TV had only analogue channels so the quality wasn't good. Small table with 2 chairs, but no comfy chair to sit and read even though there was plenty of room for one. Most TV channels were Mexican or dubbed American ones. Mattress was ok but needed to be replaced. AC was excellent as was wifi speed. Bathroom of good size, nice shower, ok toiletries, nice towels. Available in the room: small fridge, safe, robe, slippers, Nespresso coffee machine (didn't work), iron, 2 free bottles of water every day, which sometimes I had to request as maids did not leave new ones. Three restaurants: the big one was open air and birds were a nuisance trying to eat your food. Buffet breakfast not worth the money - avoid it. The other open air restaurant (small one) was better, good food but slow service. The air-conditioned cafe was just ok, limited options. Humberto, the concierge, was great - made a great suggestion for dinner (Lorenzillos) and schedule me a cab to the airport that accepted credit card (575 pesos with tax).
The hotel is not bad but needs a reno and upgraded rooms as well as making them smell better. Get rid of the mold!!
