How to Get There
The service was excellent and very responsive. Alberto from public relations was so friendly and helped us get reservations on our first day and get acquainted with the facilities. The sports and entertainment crew also gave a lot of energy to everyone at the resort and gave great shows. Would definitely recommend!
We’ve just spent 14 nights at Iberostar.
The good stuff.
All restaurants good, including the buffet. Breakfast service always boosted by the lovely Sandy smiling in her omelette station.
A huge variety of choice in the breakfast and lunch buffets to suit all palates. Which is clearly required due to the many nations represents by the clientele.
Booking the French, Mexican, Teppanyaki and Steak restaurants wasn’t a problem. At the beginning of each week we consulted with Concierge and was able to book the dates we required.
Teppanyaki is the best, probably because of the theatre experience, but all are good.
Bar service both around the pool/beach areas and within the hotel was also very good. Waitress service in the lobby bar was attentive and we never sat for more than two minutes before a waitress took our order. Our favourite was the sports bar where the barman (who left on Friday) consistently made us the best margaritas we’d ever tasted.
Finally on the good stuff, our housekeeper was excellent. Kept the room clean and left a different towel animal each day. Sometimes dropping petals on the beds, which was a lovely touch.
Now the less good elements.
We stayed on the 3rd floor of the main building. The accommodation was adequate but in desperate need of upgrade. It would seem all of the investment over the last few years has been swallowed up by the new Star Prestige building which opened in November. Perhaps management can now concentrate on the main building.
The evening theatre shows are fairly amateur in nature. I actually fell asleep during the Mexican show. We’re not really the target audience for the theatre as it’s mostly families with small children who attend. After a few days we decided it wasn’t for us and decided to play pool in the Sports Bar instead.
Some of the restaurant (particularly buffet) guests were incredibly rude. I watched one man lift an entire service bowl of pineapple from the fruit bar rather than take a normal amount, leaving the remaining queueing guests flabbergasted. I watched others push fellow guests out of the way for items as trivial as sausages or bread rolls. The disgusting behaviour of some guests did make me wonder how they act at home. Do they shove their grandparents into the fridge whilst trying to grab the last banana? Shameful.
All in all a positive experience. The staff are incredibly helpful. Food and drink was of a high quality. I’m sure management are dealing with the room upgrade question. So many guests have rightly commented similarly to myself on the state of the guest accommodation. Surely plans are afoot to upgrade.
We had a great time. We will certainly consider returning to Cancun and specifically Iberostar the same time next year.
I was at the Iberostar Cancun last september october 2018, it was my 6th time there. Ihad such a wonderful time from the moment I arrived, at the front desk the people there could not do enough for you. Check in was really quick, my room was as ever spotless. I really loved the lobby bar it is such a friendly place and a big thank you to Freddy and Rocho and all colleagues,, who Keep the bar running. The evening shows were really good and the Iberostar friends really worked hard to keep everybody entertained, A big thank you to Marina, Ailyn, Rodrigo, Maurico, Carlos, and of course my friend Saira, who helped me to compare one of the shows. The highlight of my stay was the presenting star friends to my Very good friends Marina and Ailyn and being able to close the first half of the show. For that I have to thank Alberto and Angel, a very big thank you to both of them.As usual all the restaurants were excellent and the food was very good. I am coming again this year in September/October I hope to see you all again on 25 Sept 2019. Take care all of you. As this is my 7th time at the hotel I am hoping for a free upgade to a room similar to 729. See you all soon, John Langley
The shows every night are great! The performers are very talented and so fun when teaching Zumba. The live performance after the shows are very nice. Cesar is awesome at playing the piano with the band!
I stayed at this resort for my wedding. After speaking to the front desk and then telling me I would be reimbursed I chose to not use the room upgrade for my wedding. Over 2 months later, sending multiple emails and calling multiple times I still have not received my reimbursement. Every phone I make and ask to speak to the manager about it I get transferred to multiple people if I’m lucky and the call doesn’t get disconnected. Very disappointed.
