How to Get There
We stayed at Hotel Zilara for 4nights.
I am vegetarian and was totally surprised by the way the food was prepared everyday according to my taste by chef Jacob Flores. We extremely thankful to him and also to chef Miguel.
Chef Jacob care to see that our lunch and dinner were ready on time.
Daniel and Paola were very polite and helpful. Paola is friendly and took special care to see that we are comfortable.
We would like to thank the above employees for making our stay memorable.
What started as a dream vacation, turned into a very disappointing trip. The filming of the movie “Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar” impacted guest experience drastically and the resort staff couldn’t have cared less of how it impacted paying guests.
We were ran out of our poolside cabana on July 9 by film crew. Film crew also placed a large unsightly trashcan right behind our cabana. Trying to keep a positive attitude, We decided to escape the pool, by heading to the beach. After 30 minutes in the ocean, fake movie lifeguards whistled at us constantly and waved for us to get out of the ocean and called us back to the beach. We “were in their shot.” The real lifeguard employed by the resort just watched. What was even worse and incredibly unsafe was that by calling everyone out of the ocean directly in front of the resort, it forced those who still wanted to experience the water to go into the red zones flag area to swim, which wasn’t being monitored by the unengaged life guard (the very same life guard that had whistled us out of that danger zone, just a few minutes earlier when we hadn’t realized the current had drifted us that far out).
When I checked out, I explained this disappointing trip to the woman at the desk and asked her for the managers contact information so I could contact him directly about these circumstances. She only replied with “you’ll get a survey and you can share there.” Wow, ok. 4th time in Cancun, my favorite vacation destination, 1st and last time visiting a Hyatt property as an Explorist member.
What adds insult to injury is that the property already wasn’t a 5 Star quality—so many unidentified pool floaters, grime and moss on the tiles of the pool wall, even the movie actors were talking about how unclean some parts of the pool were, particularly in the “jumping waterfall” scene. Service was hit or miss—you either got someone fantastic, or someone unenthusiastic trying to move your table along. Thank goodness this only impacted us at the end of our trip—I feel terrible for all of the paying guests who are in worse circumstances now due to the resort prioritizing the film over them.
Gorgeous Property with the finest of food and service . Location was perfect and every room looks directly out onto the ocean. The people who work there really try hard to make their guests happy. Top shelf alcohol always was available. And the buffet amazed us every day!
