How to Get There
This resort was a true find, it was fabulous: the staff were friendly and accommodating, the hotel itself was beautifully appointed and laid out, and the beach - stunning white sand and turquoise water. There was a variety of restaurants which were all good. The main buffet restaurant offered many different choices, all fresh and tasty
I have stay at better places for same $. Food choices were poor. Staff nice. Hotel clean. Didn’t like to feel harassed by seeing their timeshare. No means NO! But the oriental and Italian restaurants were wonderful.
I planned a quick last minute trip for my birthday and I'm glad I chose this resort. Everyone was friendly and made my stay so much more enjoyable. This was my first time in Cancun and I'm happy to say that I have no compaints!
My wife and I spent our 1 year anniversary at the Grand Park Royal and had a wonderful vacation. We stayed in the Royal Tower and our room was updated, clean, and worthy of a top notch resort. There was a large jacuzzi in our room as well as my dream shower with FOUR shower heads hitting you from all angles. When we checked in we were offered an upgrade to a top floor room with a private deck and plunge pool and we jumped at the chance.
The Royal Tower came with butler service and we worked with Jessica to have our dinners booked for every night of the vacation. She also reserved beachfront cabanas for us--she helped make our stay convenient, thank you!
The grounds of the resort are very well maintained and we were amazed that the property was celebrating its 36th year but looked completely updated. We didn't spend much time by the pools but both were clean. We'd recommend saving chairs early if you plan to sit by the adults-only pool. The same can be said of the beach palapas--every day we managed to find one but there aren't many available. The beach had no seaweed and the water was the perfect crystal blue--the temperature was also very comfortable.
We ate at every restaurant during our stay and did not have a bad meal. The all day snack bar by the pool was a little skimpy (serving only hamburgers, hot dogs, and nachos), but it's a small complaint. The all-inclusive was a great value, as the only time we paid anything extra was an a la carte bottle of wine at the Prime steak dinner.
I suppose the only inconvenience was that after we finished checking in and turned around from the counter there was a pink shirt sales staff person ready to give us the "membership" pitch. We were not interested but sat through her presentation politely and almost skated through until she asked us for $20 to reserve our spot in the VIP breakfast. It then turned awkward as we had to turn her down. It's too bad that such sales pitches are the first impression of the hotel but we were not bothered or approached again while we were there.
We read many Trip Advisor reviews before choosing the Grand Park Royal and were surprised that so many people gave negative ratings. We had a great stay and would certainly come back.
I travelled to Cancun for a vacation in February. It was a great get away. We arrived to a friendly welcome. We got a room with our very own pool. Our room was spacious and very clean. Everything is close by. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was very tasty and varied. Lots of tables and never felt too busy. The alacartes were fabulous. The infinity pool wS our place we enjoyed because it was quieter than the main pool. If you are bringing children, I’m sure they will really like the main pool.
My only issue was the rough ocean waves which the resort has no control over. I found the waves too rough and was knocked on my butt a few times. The entertainment crew were great. I especially enjoyed the Michael Jackson show. Please consider coming here. You will really like it.
