Old world charm in Cancun at the Grand Fiesta Americana hotel at Coral Beach
Reviewed 1 day ago

You enter the lobby to be confronted with a 4 story high ceiling built out of stained glass floating above a glass table filled with overflowing bouquets of local flowers. No matter how much my family had raved about this hotel and the city of Cancun, I was unprepared to visually take in the many architectural details of this iconic hotel. Attractive features such as wrought iron on top of large tiles with glass lanterns that replicated hacienda lights of old hang on the walls and add to the incredible ambience of this hotel. You really feel like you have gone back in time to an era filled with caballeros, candle lit evenings and the music of mariachi bands playing in the background. The beds in the room are first class comfortable. Let's face it. I could stay at any of the American hotels like the Marriott or the Sheraton in Cancun but I doubt that any could match this experience at the Grand Fiesta Americana at Coral Beach.

This hotel works tirelessly to make it appear that this beautiful and inviting hotel just happened to meet all of your needs on your holiday. My guess is that they do it everyday, all year long. The staff is simply amazing. They are the kindest people willing to drop everything to answer your question (in English no less). They are disciplined and professional and by the end of our trip the waiters and I were exchanging hugs and promises that I would return to visit them. There are several restaurants in the hotel- beautifully decorated offering delicious meals cooked in the tradition of Mexican cuisine.

Our granddaughter joined us on this trip and she loved the many pools surrounding the hotel. She also loved being in the pool and being able to swim up to the pool cantina to order a green and mint smoothie. Getting her out of the pool proved to be our greatest obstacle of the entire trip.

For the females from my family, we made 2 separate trips to this unbelievable spa located in the hotel. We did the hydro therapy that included a full body massage for a total of 3 hours. On another trip we did facials and both experiences were thoroughly relaxing and rejuvenating.

The personnel helped us plan our day outings- get a driver to see the fabulous pyramids of Chichen Itza as well as eat dinner in a boat traveling along the replicated man made canals just like the Aztecs did in Mexico City. Amazing and oh so much fun with a bit too much tequila.

Needless to say, I will return to this luxurious hotel where the sand from the beach is like nothing I have ever experienced ; so soft like powdered sugar.

The Only place to stay in Cancun

This was our 23rd trip to Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach. We know the beach, pool, hotel room, and the staff will always be PERFECT. There is no place like it in Cancun - or even comes close to the ambience and joy every guest has at this wonderful hotel. Even the other guests are PERFECT! Why - because everyone is having a wonderful experience at GFACB.

This hotel never disappoints us. We’ve been here before and it was just spectacular. The hotel looks beautiful and the food was excellent; especially the breakfast buffet. The staff, service and accommodations were totally on point. We will definitely keep coming back.

Horrible place to stay.

Don’t do it ! The service is horrible. Everyone who works there think they are the owners of the hotel. Not friendly at all. My bro in law and husband were kicked out of our rooms 3am because the person who checked me in didn’t add them to our rooms. When I asked for them to be added the manager refused and they were kicked out to the streets they r American and do not speak Spanish. He didn’t care he told them to sleep on the beach under there own risk ! I did an early check out and left that hotel. I’m getting a lawyer.

I almost don't want to write a review, as I don't want this to become too popular and crowded when I go back! What can I say except that this is an AMAZING hotel. The location is perfect! The pools were awesome, the beach was more clean than ANY we have been to. The views were exceptional. Our room was gorgeous, clean, nice, and even a comfortable bed. We were there with a group and were treated like royalty. Our towels were monogrammed with our names when we checked into our rooms.

We did the all-inclusive option and everything was amazing. The staff is beyond courteous, helpful, attentive, etc. The food was wonderful! Breakfast buffet is phenomenal! Great drink options too!

My only complaint was our experience at La Joya. We had a hard time getting reservations, as it is obviously their most popular restaurant. The food was not great (and in my opinion does not deserve its 5 star rating), and while the servers were VERY nice, they were extremely overwhelmed!! We sat with empty glasses far too long, far too often. Food came out cold. It just was not great and did not live up to the hype. However, the entertainment was wonderful. If this was not included in our all-inclusive anyways, we probably would have complained about both the food and the service. Most of the tables here were seated for over 3 hours (before we got here & still there when we left).

There is a grocery store across the street - go there as soon as you get in! We waited until our last day. It is Whole Foods on steroids. Restaurants (quick service type places) upstairs (that serve alcohol), amazing alcohol selection (cheaper than the local shops & cheaper than duty free!!), great souvenirs (cheaper than some of the nearby shops - without the haggle), and any groceries or things you may need. Trust me - just go check this place out as soon as possible!!! I wish someone would have told me to.

All in all - I would rate this more stars if I could. I cannot wait to come back. I highly recommend it to anyone I know.
