Great vacation and Armando is the best bar tender ever!!!!
Reviewed 20 hours ago

I visited this hotel this last week and the beach was nice. It was a little windy but overall the beach was clean. The best service in the hotel was provided by a bar tender of the name of Armando Vega in the preferred club. He was always polite and greeted us with a smile. He was always so attentive and made our experience great. He made the best drinks in the building.

Quick and Awesome Weekend Getaway
Reviewed 20 hours ago

We came as a couple for a long weekend, taking advantage of good pricing for an all inclusive - which made us nervous. Very pleased to confirm that while we did not do Preferred Club we had an excellent experience from the level of service to excellent Asian dinner. Previous reviews are correct that it is a bit small but very clean and beautiful beach and pool areas. Room were dated, but spacious enough and some (Preferred only) are currently being remodeled. We did not get to see them as the resort was 95% + capacity. Knowing it was that busy but the attention we still received for drinks, extra towels, etc across the resort was great! We would be glad to return. Only disappointment was the gym, incredibly small. Have fun!

Pros:
Staff is welcoming and professional
Beach location is inconvenient and clean

Cons:

Food is below average
Not sure what the hamburger was made of but did not taste like beef
Liquor is diluted which makes the drinks taste weird
Adult drinks were nasty
Our refrigerator did not work
Room smelled of mildew
Clothes were damp from hanging in closet( were dry and clean when we checked in, have to dry clean everything to get smell out)
Shower attacked us every time we used it
Tub backed up with water EVERY shower
Black mold on curtains

Cute hotel but will not stay again

AMAZING

The Beach is a Dream!

We traveled to Dreams Sands for 7 days and 7 nights on December 6th, 2018 through December 13th, 2018. I traveled with my husband and his brother and sister. Dreams Sands is right in the heart of the hotel zone. When you arrive, they greet you with a cool towel. We didn't get drinks, but I feel like we should have. We were escorted up to the 8th floor where we checked in at the preferred club lounge. It was about 10:30 am, but since we were preferred club, we were allowed to go into our rooms early. We were able to get 2 rooms that joined together. The room my husband and I stayed in was the corner suite (#1059) and his brother and sister stayed in the next room which was an ocean view room with 2 double beds (#1058). Both rooms were on the top floor which is the 11th. Our corner suite was absolutely breathtaking. The views are amazing. You can tell the furniture is a little older. The thing that disappointed me the most about the rooms is that the tub is just an average tub. Normally I like to have a jacuzzi tub big enough for two. Our maid, Juan, kept the rooms clean and was great about making the bed and turndown service.

The pools at Dreams are not really that impressive. The property is older (like other reviews have mentioned), and the pools don't really live up to the other Secrets and Dreams resorts. However, the beach at this resort is top notch amazing. The water is calm, no seaweed, and is shallow so that you can walk in and relax. Plenty of chairs at the beach. There is a preferred club private section on the beach, but we never took advantage of this area due to the chairs being mostly shaded. We were all wanting to get tan, so it was sad we didn't use the area. There is a trampoline in the ocean, but it is very worn down. It needs to be replaced along with the inflatable climbing wall. The holders where you place your hands and feet are all ripped off on one side. Vendors are always roaming the beach and can get quite bothersome, but you just have to keep saying no thank you. Dreams has one hot tub which was always crowded. The sign says kids are not allowed to be in the hot tub that are under 16, however, there were always kids in the hot tub, and most of the time these kids would crawl all over you, eat the bubbles, and be very bothersome. It was quite annoying.

The servers on the beach and around the pool were amazing. They were always making sure we had drinks refilled and constantly checking on us. We were so appreciative!

There was one amazing bartender at the bar on the beach who loved making our group shots! There was another bartender that was very annoyed we kept asking for more drinks. I wish I could remember their names.

The food at the resort was pretty good! For breakfast, the buffet is the main choice. They have lots of food options for every taste. It did take a while a lot of mornings for the waiters to come bring water. There would be days where we would be done with our first plate of food before drinks were brought to us. There was another option for preferred club members to eat at for breakfast, and this was Olio. The breakfast there was just okay and had a lot of the same options you could get at the buffet. For lunch, there weren't a lot of options. You could go to the buffet which was just okay. You could also get snack type food near the pool. They had stuff like french fries, burgers, chips and salsa, and toppings. For dinner, they have several options. Our favorites were Bourdeaux (French) and the Portofino (Italian). Waves and Sands was also another favorite, but the two times we went there, the service was terrible. Our dining experiences both times took 3 hours. Coco Cafe was awesome if you were wanting a coffee, sweet treat, or ice cream. Room service was always a nice option if we got hungry later in the afternoon or night.

Entertainment options could be better. They offer some activities on the beach such as games and things in the pool as well. Unlike other Dreams and Secrets resorts, they do not give you a list of activities for the day under your door.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Dreams Sands Cancun. The beach was so worth it, but there are other areas that need to be upgraded and updated in order to make everything the most enjoyable!
