could be one of the best places to stay in cancun! COULD!
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed only one night in Casa Turquesa and all in all we were disappointed.

The pictures on the web are more promising than reality really is.

Check in was very welcoming and fast. When you get in, everthing looks fantastic, the direct view to the fabulous beach. When we got to our oceanfront room, which was very spacious, we realized that not everything is really the way it should be. Missing paint, installations hanging out of the wall, dirty wardrobes, nearly no ammenities, basic bed sheets, everything looks very very worn and never being refurbished for years. Regular bath towels had to be requested. The pool area is ok, the water was clean and refreshing.

All in all this could be a very special, fantastic place in cancun, apart from all the huge resorts. But unfortunately the owner does not invest any more pesos and thats exactly the impression what is given to the guest! What a shame, because the staff is soo friendly and doing whats possible!

Worst! Worst, worst ever!!! We had an experience taken out of a horror story. I first rented this hotel through Hotel Tonight, the pictures were great, it offered 24 hour room service & price was excellent. I should have read the reviews. When we arrived, the hill that takes you to the front of the hotel was very steep, which isn’t really a problem, the problem is that it’s made out of bricks and the bricks are all out of place, so not only are you driving at a weird angle, you’re also trying to avoid busting a tire. Once we were in (11:10pm), the hotel was in complete darkness, I asked if there was no power, and I was told there was, but the manager turned off lights at 11:00pm as per the hotels rules. Then I proceeded to ask whether they’d had room service as described and was told no, that the manager was also very strict and we couldn’t even get bottles of water. I didn’t make a big fuss about it as we were extremely tired from a 5 hour drive from Yucatan to Cancun. Once we were escorted to our room, the room was big, definitely has potential, except for the fact the sliding door facing the beach was broken and didn’t lock, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all. Then the worst part, BED BUGS! Live, jumping bed bugs!!! The sheets were white, so it was easy to see those little insects jumping around, there were droplets of dried blood on the bed. The couch was full of mold, it was HORRIBLE!!! I told the guy we were leaving and he didn’t even apologize, now that I am disputing the charge with Hotel Tonight, they’re telling me that ‘Oscar’ offered us a free upgrade to the presidential suite and since we turned it down I cannot get a refund. LIES! He never offered an upgrade. He never apologized. Do not go here! It is horrible!! We ended up at Krystal Cancun & it was a bliss!

This place went above expectation! Perfect location, close to everything. Staff were very friendly and helped us out with any questions we had and guided us in the right direction. Photos don't do this place justice - see for yourself!

Love from New Zealand!

A gem in need of further renovation
Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel evoked three reactions in me: First, „Wow!“. Then, „Ugh.“ And finally, „Hm...“

„Wow!“: With its quiet location at a beautiful stretch of beach, relatively few rooms and highly individualistic building and decorations, at first the Casa Turquesa looked like a real gem for travelers who prefer characterful small hotels over anonymous „hospitality machines.“

„Ugh.“: As a hotel, if you get a 320 USD/night ocean view suite freshly painted, why on earth would you leave one corner of the wall unpainted and equip the room with a bedlamp with a dirty and broken lampshade, as can be seen in the attached photos? That is simply beyond me. As other reviewers have noted, the still many, many small shabby items all over (rusty room safe, uncleaned restaurant windows, ...) create the impression of a place which is run down.

„Hm...“: Come to think of it, the accumulated small shabbyness creates an impression which is worse than seems actually warranted. After all, the „big ticket items“ are all fine, and the lamp with the dirty and broken shade works.

In summary, after our one-night stay I think it actually would take only relatively little for the Casa Turquesa to create a much better impression than it currently does: Some paint jobs here and there, a new mattress and lamp shade in our room, etc.; none of it big deals, and presumably not overly expensive.

So, while we found the hotel’s staff to be friendly and helpful, what appears to be missing is attention to detail. If Casa Turquesa follows through with its renovation it can become a great place indeed.

Location Spectacular, very nice personnel

I would describe this hotel as a Grande Dame in need of a Facelift. It has the potential to be really great or a luxury boutique hotel. It is directly on a beautiful white sand beach. The pool is wonderful, with a small waterfall at the end. The hotel is small, so it is not swarming with people. The rooms are large and all have spacious balconies facing the ocean with a jacuzzi tub. It is clean and the General Manager Mustafa is such a nice guy. He speaks 9 languages and tries to make sure all his guests are happy. The only criticism is that it is old and needs some TLC, but the price is right and the location is perfect - walking distance to all the shops and restaurants.
