How to Get There
Most things about the resort are fantastic. They have a variety of restaurants that cover everything from Mexican to Asian to French. The disappointing part about the resort is that it bills itself a party resort but in reality it's a terrible cliche from the 1980s or 1990s. The dance club, After Dark, is an amalgamation of everything bad about a dance club or a nightclub. The dance floor is tiny and surrounded by stripper poles. There is no room to actually dance in any traditional manner. The music is mainly gangster rap and participants are expected to simply stand in place and bounce up and down like monkeys. There is no actual dancing for couples who wants to dance. The resort caters to couples but the dance club is more of a singles scene. Any couple who likes to dance could not possibly dance together unless they plan on staying within a 1 meter box. You would think the resort would cater to folks in their thirties and forties who actually grew up dancing but in reality it caters to Millennials, in their twenties with their trucker caps and torn jeans ... who have no idea how to dance at all. Most people simply stand together and talk to each other over the music. Their is no DJ or band. The music is piped in and terribly outdated. Tonight they were playing 50 cent circa 2004.
I was here with a group of women in 2016 and it was great! This time, not so much.
The pool was freezing so no one was in it. Outside temperature for the week hovered around 80, so more reason to heat up the pool especially when the ocean is full of seaweed so not inviting. The hot tub was okay but could have been hotter.
They breakfast buffet was average at best. Same thing every day and not great choices as before.
The entertainment was minimal. Previously there would be more options at night. Not this time.
The hostess at that the Asian restaurant was extremely rude. We were told by the employees in the lobby that we could make a reservation for the hibachi table from 3:00 - 5:00 at the restaurant. When I arrived at 3:00 they said we had to wait until 3:30, so about 20 of us were standing in line for 30 minutes while ERIKA (the hostess) stood there watching her phone until the digits reached 3:30 and only then would she take our reservation. She was not apologetic at all. I think the tight bun on her head cut off her common sense and compassion. It will was ridiculous.
All of the other employees were fabulous with the exception of one other grumpy bartender at the bar by Spoons. Small man. Never smiled.
Also, it was not as clean as usual. Dirty dishes on the stairs that sat for days. Bed did not seem as comfortable as well. Not sure what's going on with this place.
Could have used another worker at the barefoot grille. Shouldn't have to wait that long for food. Guacamole was empty, pick was empty. Chicken took 20 minutes.
Overall I'd say most everything was underpar compared to 2 years ago.. I'm not planning on returning.
I just came back from a girls trip. The food, service, and accommodations were wonderful. Something for everyone here. Quiet, or big party scene. Daniel at Bites, Miguel at Breakfast buffet, Noe at the french restaurant were all so efficient and welcoming. Yuliana at the front desk certainly got us started out on the right foot. I would definitely stay in the exhale club section, as the pool was nice and quiet, when you get tired of the party scene you have a great escape. Spa was spectacular. The resort is 15 minutes from the airport. I will be coming back for sure.
My wife and I recently went here for our honeymoon and it was amazing! Everything is perfectly set up for a couples vacation, great restaurants, the xhale area perfect for relaxing, and everyone was very nice.
We are UVC Diamond members. 1st time there, spent a week. The place is pretty killer. Great food and staff. The 3 pool concept - 1 quiet, 1 medium, 1 party is cool. Careful of the swingers hotel right next door with the nude beach - but they completely block it from view.
