How to Get There
A very lovely hotel. It is located right down by the waterfront. We took advantage of the valet parking. The car is available back with 10 min notice. The rooms are very nice. Hardwood floors. The bathroom was fully renovated with an absolutely huge bathtub and a large glass shower. The only complaints we found were the toilet seemed quite low so an older guest might have difficulty with the deep knee squats necessary to use it. We also found the bed to be a bit soft. Overall however the room was extremely well appointed.
We booked into this charming hotel based on the reviews on TA. The location is perfect for dropping off the car and exploring the old city on foot. It was easy to find and get to using Google maps and directions. You can park outside to unload and then you will be directed to the secure underground parking just a very short distance away. There are plenty of great cafes, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and as mentioned, you can easily explore on foot from the hotel. Check in was easy, warm and welcoming and our room was ready when we arrived, just after noon! The room was clean and comfortable with everything one would need. Breakfast was great fun. If you book directly with the hotel, breakfast is included and will be hung on a hook outside the door. We weren't expecting anything too special given this arrangement but we were delighted with our "pic-nic". Orange juice, croissants (2 each!), yoghurt, oranges and even some Quebec cheese. A very satisfying spread indeed and set us up for an energetic morning of exploration. We will definitely return.
Absolutely lovely location, fronting onto the pier and backing onto Rue Saint-Paul Ouest (Circa 1672), with many restaurants (including the delightful attached Taverne Gaspar) and shops nearby.
We had the Premier King with Saint-Paul view on the second floor (room 205). Very large, with huge windows and a large hydro-massage tub and separate massage shower and gas fireplace. Spotless. I was afraid it would be cold, because it is such an old, stone building, but it was perfect temperature and you can adjust if needed anyway.
The service was outstanding, very friendly and kind.
Note: The elevator does not go all the way up to the Terrace so if you have mobility issues, you will not be able to go to the Terrace on the rooftop (which is only open seasonally anyway)
Lovely accommodations. Helpful staff. Treat yourself to a special place. 1 caution: valet parking is a bit pricey so you may want to choose your own parking arrangements.
There weren't any vegan options in the restaurant so we dined elsewhere, which was fine.
My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay this week in Old Montreal's Auberge du Vieux Port. We both loved the auberge’s quaintness, ambience and charm exuded by the stone structure, exposed brick walls, and wooden support beams of the former Port of Montreal warehouse. Our room over looking the St. Lawrence River was most comfortable and bright.
We were duly impressed by the auberge’s professional and engaging staff. In particular, in her role as concierge, Yamila was most accommodating, gracious, and willingly helpful in providing assistance and sharing her perspective with regard to our questions concerning Montreal’s museums and restaurants. The young lady who served us at breakfast each morning in the Taverne Gaspar was also very professional, extremely courteous and pleasant.
The auberge is within easy walking distance of Old Montreal's many fine restaurants, shops and attractions.
We look forward to returning to Montreal and the Auberge du Vieux Port sometime soon for another petites vacances!
