Perfect location, best bed ever
Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel is in a gorgeous location with great views. An easy walk to downtown and major sights. The room itself was great, the most comfortable bed ever...

The wonderful touch this place has that a lot of others don't have is a coffee, tea and hot chocolate station in the entry for hotel guests. We thought this was a fantastic touch!

Full of charm, I'd recommend staying here. The only thing I wasnt a fan of is not being able to control the temperature of your room as this is done centrally. Although when we called they did change for us.

Adequate stay, lovely staff

We stayed in a king premier room with a beautiful port view. The best features of the room itself were the super large tub and modern shower. The bed was very comfortable. Overall, the rustic look attempted here felt unfinished to us. The service was warm and inviting. We opted for the valet parking which seemed the only realistic option. I am very picky when it comes to lodging so when I say this hotel is adequate, please know my standards are quite high. The room felt on the small side and the noise from the street (we were on the 3rd floor) made it impossible to sleep. If you are looking for charm, the staff and overall decor come close. If you are looking for the wow factor, I would advise looking elsewhere.

Still My Montreal Favorite

Just spent two lovely nights back at the Auberge du Vieux-Port, having stayed there on a couple of prior visits. The reception welcome was warm and inviting (on a very cold day) and our room (facing the River and Old Port) was large and very comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower and separate tub and the bed quite comfortable. All in all a highly recommended venue.

Absolutely fabulous

The Auberge du Vieux Port, is a real treasure!!! The building is an immaculate, charming and luxurious, historic landmark, facing the great St. Lawrence river, which provided stunning views from the room. The location afforded quick access to the many sightseeing gems which must not be missed, like the Notre Dame cathedral. The staff are truly caring professionals who demonstrated their brilliant team work and commitment to helping their guests. In particular, Lara, Magalie and Olivia were extremely helpful in liaising with me, and provided excellent customer service and looked after my daughter and my friend, with fantastic care and attention throughout their ten day stay. The room was spacious, spotless with lovely bed and bathroom, together with a private jacuzzi, perfect for relaxation. The restaurant has delicious food and beverages, with warm and friendly service. The concierge is wonderful, and helped with our transport from the airport and the reception provided superb help 24/7!!!!! Great value and affordable! We are enchanted by the wonderful time we stayed at the Auberge du Vieux Port, and will definitely stay there every time we are lucky enough to visit the magical city of Montreal! Highly recommended!!!!

Kind regards,

Excellent if you can sleep in the noise

I can understand the many 5 star ratings because the hotel is charming, the room wonderful and it is right in the middle of historic Montreal and pedestrian zone.

Which also is a big problem. We stayed three nights on the Rue Saint Paul Est side which is the famous pedestrian street.
Each night the street noise was intolerable. People going to restaurants and coming from bars the whole night until early morning hours. Continuous shouting and screaming and whatever sounds drunken people make.
Being old, the hotel's windows and walls are not well soundproofed and all the noise penetrated inside like there was nothing in between.

We did not sleep well on any night.
Which is basically the most important thing in a hotel, to have a good night sleep.

It is not the hotel's fault though. Probably it is a different story if you have a room on the river side. Cab driver told us when leaving the hotel, that in Montreal the partying and drinking in the city center starts already on Thursday and continues till Sunday. Those were the nights we stayed here.

On day time the location was obviously great. Lovely hotel, but unfortunately not for me.
