How to Get There
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I really liked the phone call before we arrived-she set the tone for what to expect. All of the staff were so friendly, happy, and helpful; the room was perfect, nicely appointed, and clean crisp cotton sheets, The location is ideal-walking distance to so much of what Montreal has to offer.
The staff was amazing and the location just as good. We checked into room 311 and it was small. It had lots of character and the finishes were nice. It had a great vibe.
It was on the port side so very quiet. We “upgraded” on the second night to a larger room. It’s just so wrong I don’t know where to start. The light fixtures are literally $14.00 at Home Depot and that’s before I calculate the currency exchange, The walls are painted a yellow tone from the 90’s. Furniture is garage sale grade. Shower is so small that at 116 pounds, I am choosing to take a bath instead. The center of the curtains are being held together by a coat hanger to keep the light out. There are amazing beams in the room that are over-shadowed by bad furniture. As someone who has designed many homes, it would not take much to make this a really nice room. I wish the proprietor would invest a small amount of money to make it feel current. I should say that the bar/tavern attached to the hotel is fabulous. There is so much to love about this place but the cheap furniture and accessories in halls and rooms are literally making me crazy. So much potential it is sad.
"This is my first time staying in the Old Port. To sum up my experience, I thought that the hotel was a thoroughly charming and very comfortable property with a dedicated and friendly staff that genuinely wants their guests to enjoy themselves. I did not try the restaurants, but did enjoy drinks and views on the rooftop terrace. The hotel is very well located, and access to transportation and other parts of the city is very good, but even more so if you enjoy walking and/or biking--locations that seem distant if you take a taxi or uber are frequently more enjoyable and directly accessed on foot. The biking opportunities such as the trip to Lachine are excellent with a first rate bike rental establishment close to the hotel. Our stay was over the U.S. Memorial Day weekend, and we did not make reservations very far in advance, but the rooms were nonetheless a good value."
