A one and a half star property

If you are a backpacker or looking for very basic accomodation , this is it. My friend and I however booked, through Flight Center, after looking at Expedia, a four star hotel stay, for one week at Hoi An. This place seemed fine, according to the information! However, it is WITHOUT doubt sub standard , as far as 2 or 3 ( let alone 4 ) stars is concerned. The grounds were unkempt, only one power point worked in the room, ( now and then), the late night staff spoke no English, taxi drivers refused to drive us back at night, there was no lift and the room basic.. This was advertised as 4 star!!!!

Lovely riverside hotel, good food, friendlt staff

Spent 4 nights here in January 2019. Staff very helpful, greeted us with tasty banana pancake.
We used their bikes which were free and cycled to the beach and round Cam Kim island. Could do with some maintenance as my pedals stopped working.
Very handy to be able to cycle into Hoi An for the evening lantern celebrations.
We ate at the hotel twice in the evening and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Good choice of breakfast and lovely fresh fruit.
We used the pool once, water a bit cool but ok once you were in.

Holiday fun

The people that work here are lovely. The bed was comfy. We had two rooms family of 4. but one had an outside shower which I didn’t feel comfort using despite its appearance of privacy. There fore needed to use bath only problem is no enough hot water for even 1-4 of bath. Location was ok but with rain would of preferred to be closer. It’s was raining and therefore lots of floor dirt and I noted this still after the cleaners. No flannels had to use a hand towel in the bath. Cups and glasses in room not cleaned or replaced by housekeeping.Positives, decent breakfast, free use of bikes. Lovely staff and reasonably comfortable. No room service menu in rooms but when ordered was delicious. Could be cleaner but still decent.

Most memorable stay while in Vietnam

We stayed at Orchid Garden Riverside hotel for two nights. Our experience was great from the very beginning. We were greeted with iced tea and banana pancake and shown a map with all local attractions. We then explored the town and came back to our room which had a huge double bed, and a beautiful view out to the garden and the swimming pool. The room was exceptionally tidy, the surroundings were peaceful and very well looked after. We were mostly impressed by the breakfast the next day. The selection was vast with both Vietnamese and Western cuisine selections. There were fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, great coffee and all served in a lovely area with a view to the river. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you come to Hoi An. It’s a beautiful town and Villa Orchid will exceed your expectations!

Resort style accomodation with big spacious rooms.
Very quiet environment with a pool.
Breakfast was fantastic n offers a great river view.
Tour desk is available for tour bookings n closes at 9pm
Cleanliness of hotel needs to be improved as bed linens n towels are dirty.
Lots of mosquitoes during rainy season so do bring mosquitos batches.
