How to Get There
We stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had visited Hoi An before and had already done many of the tourist sights, so spent our time mainly in and around the hotel, either at one of the 2 pools or by the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable although the bathroom is in need of an update, especially the shower.
The breakfast buffet has a good choice of hot and cold foods, plenty of fresh fruit and bread/pastries. The location of the restaurant overlooking the river is lovely. We had dinner there a couple of nights, and a couple of lunches - good choice of both Vietnamese and Western dishes.
We also had several treatments at the Waterlily spa which is very good and reasonable priced. All the staff are very helpful and friendly, often stopping to chat and practise their English.
We used the complimentary shuttle into town but there is also a taxi rank across the street, less than 100000 dong into town. Also plenty of local restaurants just outside the hotel.
I rated Tropical as barely a four due to my check out experience. The clerk said my credit card was not accepted. I had used it the evening before and again at the airport without difficulty. This was an embarrassing and time consuming experience. Lucky I had sufficient cash to pay the balance due.
Otherwise the staff was extremely friendly, my bed was very comfortable, the beach clean and the surroundings enjoyable.
The breakfast buffet was too limited with respect to food selections
Our hotel room with a view of the river was lovely but the bathroom was a disappointment, it needs updating asap. The shower wasn't fit for purpose and when I complained it was changed the next day. The staff did offer to change our room but as we had lived out of the suitcase for 2 weeks and this was our longest stay we had unpacked and my partner wouldn't move! The infinity pool is the nicest one but one afternoon they closed it for a private function! It would be better if they made that one adults only as it was so peaceful when only adults were chilling out there. The shuttle bus to town is good but it could do with running every hour and some night we couldn't be bothered waiting for it we just ate at the restaurants outside of the hotel. They are all very good, they even do your washing for very cheap! If we ever went back to Hoi An I would chose a hotel closer to town.
