How to Get There
There are many beautiful resorts in the world, but few strike the perfect balance of location, service, elegance and relaxation that the Intercontinental Sun Peninsula does.
Perched on its own peninsula, surrounded by native primeval forest, this resort manages to co-exist with the landscape, a feat of engineering as the architecture spans 4 levels on a dramatic incline.
As we entered the resort, our driver let out a giant "Wow" echoing our thoughts as we looked across the marble lobby to the view down through the forest to the private beach and out to the stunning seascape.
There were many “wow” moments during our stay! The view from the cablecar that goes from reception at the very top of the resort all the way down to the beach/pool area. The huge room with luxurious bathroom, balcony and stunning seaview (all rooms have a seaview by the way - no dud rooms at this resort). Watching the sunset from the Daybed of the Long Bar. Luxuriating in the stone bathtub looking out onto the ocean. The crystal clear waters of the private beach. Watching mummy and bubba monkeys frolicking in the water outside Citron restaurant.
Being our wedding anniversary, this was a special stay for us. And the Intercontinental helped us celebrate in style. Not only were we upgraded to a club room, but we were so very pleasantly surprised with a large vase full of red roses, a bottle of wine and a beautifully glazed chocolate cake inscribed "Happy Anniversary" surrounded with little loveheart chocolates. It is this sort of personal service that defined our stay, and that defines this resort. The staff are genuinely happy at work, they love this resort and go out of their way to ensure you love it too. From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a welcome drink and a cool towel (while the reception staff discreetly took care of the passports/checkin) we were looked after. Beach attendants brought us cool water throughout the day; housekeeping staff located our lost computer mouse; the buggy drivers and cable car operators were pleasant and attentive (and prompt!); the bar staff remembered our favourite drinks. The service is what elevates this resort to a league of its own. In talking with resort manager Seif Hamdy, it is a priority that their staff are treated well, and that the resort supports the local indigenous population - which they do by using local sustainable reusable bamboo straws (instead of plastic), using bamboo cups for their signature cocktails, and by selling merchandise created by local artisans in the resort shop. Having met Mr Hamdy, it is obvious that he cares about every single detail in the resort, and every inhabitant (staff, guest and monkey:).
Designed by Bill Bensley the entire resort is a work of art. Every guest room and public area is blend of traditional and modern. Calming and sympathetic to the surrounding monkey forest. Always with the seaview as the star attraction. The signature black and white colour palette is present throughout, including the uniforms which vary from elegant and bold black and white or the restaurant staff to cheeky black and white striped tees for the pool/beach attendants. Even the music at the Long Bar is sophisticated, yet relaxed and easy. This resort gets it right in every way.
Special thanks to all the staff for making our anniversary stay so special. Especially Quan, Kavesh and An from Long Bar who looked after us so well.
We had high expectations having read all the reviews, but they were way exceeded. It was so very hard to leave. In fact, we loved it so much we are already planning my 50th there next year.
No arm twisting needed to return to the Intercontinental Danang .
Service was impeccable , everything was the same as I remembered , this time with many more permenant residents, the macaques, they provided much entertainment and frustration .
To make our stay more memorable , rare and almost extinct family of Red Shanked Doucs , beautiful shy monkeys decided to put on a show at sunset , they came out to feed at close range above our heads in the tree at the Nam Tram beach station .
What a wonderful place to be ,not having to share the beach, surrounded by lushes greenery and the beautiful Son Tra Peninsula , what more can one ask for .
We have travelled across the world and stayed in the some of the finest hotels and suites but have to say this resort is the best we have experienced. The view from our suite was breathtaking and service outstanding across all levels. We enjoyed the good quality food, the complimentary beachside ice lollies, sunglass cleaning and free watersports. The infinity pool was magnificent. The pizza at the beach restaurant was delicious and the view spectacular!!
The long bar was stunning, our favourite place for cocktails and again these were of high quality and perfectly made. A very special thank you to PHUONG NGUYEN, the bar and service manager for an exceptional welcome and for making our visit on our last night extra special. She was truely a sweet lady.
Thank you Dora for the wine in our room. The Resort Manager Seif provided excellent care throughout our stay and we are so grateful for the safe return of my wifes swimsuit back to the UK which she left behind in the room.
A final thank you to Uyen and the lady at the Airport lounge who ensured our short time while waiting for our flight was made comfortable. We will definitely return here again, but for more than three days.
We were totally blowing away each minute of our stay. We were staying in many 5* Luxury Resorts across the wold but this is the best we have experienced so far. The resort is embedded fully in nature, combined with the most luxury environment which you can expect. Additionally the entire staff is very well trained and give each individual guest a family feeling and of course an outstanding service. We will definitely come back with the next 12 month and will stay much longer. If you search a magnificent unique luxury resort, there is only Intercontinental Sun Peninsula Danang!
A Place Where Myth Meets Luxury! A perfect 2 nights stay to celebrate my wife's birthday. Where everything is beyond expectations. If you are in Danang, you only need to think InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort!
